This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Microsoft also needs to fix their stupid web store. It use to be good, but it sucks so bad now. You can't see at the final step if you are paying anything or not for Games with Gold games. You can't use MS credit to make purchases. Etc. So terrible.

The credit thing is a pain, but it has always said "Free" for the price when I buy GWG titles.

I know I've asked this before but does anyone have any clue if 360 users will be able to download the XBone games to their account if they have a gold subscription just in case they do wind up getting the XBone at some point down the line. Will we all be begging various XBone owners to log into our accounts and download them for us on the consoles? What madness will my life become in the coming months?
Anyone????

You can use credit for X1 purchases. With sales becoming more frequent next month, this will be very nice.

Anyone????
I remember asking this for a similar issue a while ago, and some X1 owners seemed to point out that you currently need an X1 to get X1 games on your profile. Which means that yeah, we're probably going to need to be begging for people to start downloading and instantly aborting all the free games and whatever sale we want to bite on, as we can't get the stuff off our PC just yet. I am planning to get the X1 only around Christmas, but there should be at least 7 free games already in my catalog by then if I do this. Looking good!

i didnt have an xbox one at the time they gave out free killer instinct codes and i reddeemed it and when i got my xbone it was on queue but then again it was a code

Lots of chatter about Battlestations Pacific.  Here's my take:

If you liked Midway you'll LOVE Pacific.

The campaigns are fun, though the US campaign suffers from terrible voice acting.  Japaese too but it's not as bad.  I love playing "what if" the Japanese won at Midway.  Graphics are good, and gameplay is nice.

There was some talk about Games for Windows Live discontinuing this summer and so the PC version of the game may lose multiplayer matchmaking.  Not sure if that will be the case for Xbox.

If you do get this game for $5, consider picking up the Mustang Units Pack for $2 - either if you like the game or want to make it more interesting.  You'll get some sweet planes but also the Montana and Super Yamato battleships which make some of the more difficult battles a lot easier.

When looking at one's purchase history on the web, does Xbox One DLC appear there and have working links?
Xbox One DLC shows up as "Unknown Title" for me with no link. I just redeemed a code for a Ryse promo shield and that's the newest thing in my purchase history after Sacred Citadel DLC (bought it on Monday night, haven't bought anything since).

Sweet, thanks. I may pick up Quantum. It looked like fun. Anyone have any thoughts on it?
It's really fun. It's like Portal (I believe one of the people who worked on this also worked on Portal) with (imo) better puzzles. It gets even better in the later levels when shifting between different dimensions is required/needs to be timed properly to beat a puzzle.

I believe it was made by Kim Swift, one of the major Portal devs. Platforming looks tough in spots, but I haven't played it myself. I was looking to buy it when it was on sale some time ago, but the 2 pieces of DLC run $3 each, and have never seen a sale.

Thoughts on the following:

1) Plants v Zombies (not Garden Warfare)

2) Just Cause 2

3) Deus Ex

Any of them worth buying? I already have three copies of PvZ (computer, iPhone and iPad)

I had 2 copies of PvZ and was burnt out after doing everything possible in those 2. I still bought Xbox version thinking it would be an easy completion because I already did all the achievements on other devices, but I was sick of PvZ at that point. I should probably give it another try now that I haven't played it in probably over a year.

I didn't like Just Cause 2, but a lot of people did. The PC version has a crazy multiplayer mod* that I wish the Xbox version had. Without the mod, I cannot recommend it. I find open world games get boring fast if I'm not playing with friends.

Deus Ex took me awhile to get into. It is different. By the end of it though, I was glad I didn't give up on it right away.

Interested in:

Zombie Apocalypse: Never Die Alone. Played the trial and it didn't convince me.

Plants vs Zombies. Couldn't grab it from the countdown sales, should i wait for another drop like that one or should go with this price?

State of Decay. Should I go for it this time? Skipped it before.

How to Survive. Liked the trial, am i missing something ?

Lightning Returns. Haven't played the first 2 partes, but i liked the mechanics i managed to get on the trial.

Battlestation Pacific. Don't know jack about this one, except the bits i got from some CAGers.

Quantum Conundrum. Don't know jack about this one either, except what i read from a few posts before, but it makes me wonder why is it rated at 3 stars if its good ?

Thanks in advance fellows CAGers, and  cheers to keep clogging those backlogs.

Thanks for the input. I may pick it up. More than likely wait to see what next weeks sales are.

Well date night started out bad, but morning breakfast rocked....no arm chewing needed. GWG on both boxes sweet! Probably gonna grab some Quantum and some D Ex....stop me if you think the D Ex will be free next month :D

1) Plants vs. Zombies is an excellent "tower defense" game. It's stylistic artstyle and humor really make it stand out aside from having really fun addictive gameplay. Get it.

2) Just Cause 2 is a fun open world just mess around kind of game. There's a lack of things to do in the game but to its credit the game world is massive and it's a perfect bang for your buck at this price.

3) Deus Ex: Human Revolution is a great RPG shooter that lets you decide pretty much how you want to go about things. It'll tie into a linear story but you're given the reigns on how to approach each situation. I think it's also a must buy at that price.

Sorry for your wallet but that's a 3 for 3 there.

Nice! 3 more games I don't have for next month. I could seriously play only GWG games for the next 2 years and never want for a game to play. Of course, that won't happen. They'll just join the digital backlog - at least it's a free didgital backlog!

Noticed that a Red Dead Redemption DLC pack went on sale for $5 so .... Rockstar sale! Called it!

Actually I haven't played Red Dead Redemption yet but I admit that DLC sale from a few weeks ago has me going into my backlog on Xbox and PS3 (got rid of Vice City from frustration - just in time to prepare for Saint's Row).  Looks like this is the only definite purchase for me since this includes Undead Nightmare and some other features.

Downloading the Battlestations demo in the meantime. I think I will pass on State of Decay until Halloween when we'll see it featured again.

Oh and another good thing about Dark Souls being free is that perhaps i will finally get my longed Artorias of the Abyss DLC on sale, hopefully 5 bucks, but i would still pay 7.50.
Yes, this! I passed on it last time it was on sale. If nothing else there's that to look forward to next month.

Sweet, thanks. I may pick up Quantum. It looked like fun. Anyone have any thoughts on it?
I had a ton of fun with it when it first came out. I think I actually enjoyed it even more than Portal. Vastly underrated and overlooked game IMO. It does have first person platforming parts which a lot of people have complained about who have played it but I personally didn't mind those parts.

Stupid question but I never looked into PS+ and I'm thinking about getting the One just so I can start dl the GwG while I still have Gold on the 360. I figure this way, by the time I actually start playing the One I'll have a backlog for it already.

If I dl the GwG for Xbox One and let my membership lapse, I should have access to the games again when I start my membership again, right?

This. This is what Microsoft is aiming for, that those of us who haven't upgraded won't switch to Sony. That and the Kinectless console. And it does work, i'm considering it... again project beast is what is keeping me from deciding. Even so..

Just Cause 2 is one of my favorite sandbox games on the 360. It's quite fun roaming around the island and going from snowy mountain tops to tropical paradise. Combining the grappling hook with weapons is crazy fun.

Feeling particularly lazy so not sure if this has been mentioned, but for those picking up Just Cause 2, there are 3 pieces of FREE DLC - All completely silly fun but FREE!

My two cents on the sale games:

PvZ: Fun as PvZ is, I still think it's best with touch interface.

Just Cause 2: LOTS of fun but more for messing around than much else, but hey, it's FUN!

Quantum Quandrum: Not portal. Yes it's got some fun bits but it's not a completely enjoyable experience.

Dead Island: Alright game overall but most of us got it free already, eh?

Dead Island Riptide: Unless you LOVE every zombie game because it's a zombie game, pass. It's more of the same.

Deus Ex HR: A brilliant game but the Directors Cut fixed the issues this release had for the most part. Mixed bag.

Tomb Raider: If you missed out on the reboot, jump in. It's not going anywhere, because it's a solid game.

Lightning Returns: A fun new spin on the series and much more involving than previous XIII entries, but lacking in depth.

Dishonored: This is still on sale? Well, if you havn't played one of my favorite games of all time, GET IT!

I wonder why they announced all this Xbox news today. The fact that the Kinectless bundle will be available June 9 screams that it was originally planned as an E3 announcement. "Xbox One will no longer be bundled with Kinect, and you can start buying this new SKU today in stores across the country".

Wonder if they were worried it was going to leak or something.
They can own the news cycle for the next week or so, which wouldn't be true at E3. Plus, it starts a wave of good news about the future of Xbox One to counteract the negativity of late. Then they can focus on the games at E3 like last year, except it's not being done because they were in denial.

Haha, don't forget the unofficial spider-man swing, grappling onto trees and soaring up into the air with your parachute, rinse repeat weeeeeee.

Oh and you can of course do this with the grapple too.

Would be insanely dumb if it didn't. Oops I forgot to add a card or I can't afford to put it on my CC and now a lapse of one day has wiped out three years of games or something dumb.
just spotted a ad on my xb1 about gold memberships changing. The fine print says: on xbox one, active gold membership required to play free games you've downloaded.

That does sound like you still keep them if it does lapse. I agree with you though, losing everything because you were a day late renewing would be fucked up...though who knows with MS anymore.

Yeah I've seen that about the downloaded part. Hopefully it just continues on like it is where it's bound to your account and not something you have to keep on your system. If not I'm sure the internet will turn on MS pretty quickly and get them to change yet again.

Already have all of the Xbox 360 Games with Gold games for June, so that's not too good for me even though that's been true for most months. The first two titles for Xbox One are two of the three remaining XBLA games I've been looking to get whenever they have a good sale, or get them on Steam if that happened first, so they saved me the need to wait for actual sales.

They're moving Games with Gold to requiring the Xbox Live sub to keep playing them. In the words of a bald, orange man: "I believe I had that."

I'm not sure what the VIP Room is supposed to be. It sort of sounds like that dumb Sales and Specials app that they had on Xbox 360, but it's vague enough that I'm not that sure about it. Additional discounts on top of the normal deals would be a great thing to see them do, as I've always been surprised that deals are either Gold exclusive or for everybody with them rarely ever mixing.

at this point I'd think they'd have to do it like plus does or the internet will rage. Though you're correct, they can always 180.
