This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Re Deus Ex, I pulled that out of the backlog a couple months back and really enjoyed it.  I didn't find it buggy at all, but maybe I was just lucky.

I will say this, the aiming and shooting controls seemed very clunky to me at first.  Don't let that put you off the game - once you get used to the combat you'll have a great time stealthing/shooting around.  Definitely worth $5.

2) Just Cause 2 is a fun open world just mess around kind of game. There's a lack of things to do in the game but to its credit the game world is massive and it's a perfect bang for your buck at this price.

This. This is what Microsoft is aiming for, that those of us who haven't upgraded won't switch to Sony. That and the Kinectless console. And it does work, i'm considering it... again project beast is what is keeping me from deciding. Even so..
You are so spot on. It wont work for me though. My memory goes beyond this last good move (which is just a copycat of the rival way of doing things). I can't support such an untrustworthy company, with its fickle policy. And what is constant just dont convince me: i want to play games, not watch TV or mess with apps. Still, years are gonna pass since I upgrade to next/current gen.

Gamefly is having another nice Xbox One sale.

$25 each - Ryse, Assassin's Creed 4, Dead Rising 3, Forza 5, NFS Rivals, LEGO Marvel, Zoo Tycoon, and Fighter Within*

http://www.gamefly.com/buy-games/Browse/?pf=1215&cat=SeeAll#axzz31f5Asp58

I'm really itching for AC4, but I think I can hold off until it is GWG with all the backlog I have. I haven't played Forza 5, LEGO Marvel, or Zoo Tycoon. The other ones that I did play are really good and easily worth $25. The ones I haven't played are probably worth it to.

*No

Someone probably mentioned it but on the 360 itself in the sale section there's also a thing for a sale on ninja themed avatar items for 99 cents each.

Edit- A couple things look to be higher than 99 cents.

If I Am understanding this on Xbox website correctly then if your membership lapse then you will still keep your GWG Games but just wont be able to play them unless you reactivate your paid gold account am I understanding that right? that how I'm reading it at least

"Free Games Offer: For paid Gold members only. On Xbox One, active Gold membership required to play free games you’ve downloaded. Must download titles during designated window. Kinect and/or hard drive required for some games."

http://news.xbox.com/2014/05/xbox-delivering-more-choices

That's how we're all optimistically reading it because that's basically how it works now where the games are tied to your account (just without the Gold requirement to play them) and they would be insane to do otherwise.

Holy crap, that's like the Earth to the largest star in the universe size comparison lol. I didn't see GTA V on there though, curious and oh my god I spent a long time on Guild Wars Nightfall back in the day exploring from every corner lol.

I just recently watched the AH guys do the drive from one side of the map to the other corner achievement Let's Play and they did it but no achievement popped.

Also yuuumm on the Gamefly $25 Xbox One sale again! Might be picking up DR3.

It's pretty much a given that we will see Saints Row The Third DLC go on sale when the Games With Gold shifts over right? That's usually how this goes?

Ok, many ppl are getting confused, the GwG for xbox one it's going to work exactly as the ps+ has worked since the beggining, you dl a game and it can be played until your membership expire, but if you renew it can play those games again, on the xbox 360, it going to be as usual, if you no longer are gold you still will be able to play the games you downloaded before.

The games for xbox 360 on june are:
- Dark Souls
- Charlie Murder
- Super Street Fighter IV arcade ed (bonus games for 1st anniversary of GwG)

And for xbox one:
- Max the cursed of brotherhood
- Halo spartan assault

Nice to see the Gamefly sales back.. wish I was in buying mode, I'd pick up Dead Rising 3 and Lego Marvel for the One in a heartbeat. But just picked up XCOM: Enemy Within and am replaying The Witcher, so they'd just collect dust for the next couple months.

Soon, though.. soon.

Nice to see some Games with Gold bonuses coming down the pipeline, too. Always puts a craw in my side, though, when something I own digitally is being shelled up for free as part of the program, and we're offered no alternatives, bonuses or other rewards for having already bought it. Makes me not want to buy anything digitally, because I can play the waiting game instead.

So if I don't have a One, can I just claim the free games from the xbox web marketplace and have a backlog when I eventually buy a one???

Edit: so XB1 stuff isn't on the web marketplace. Damn. I'll just swing by my boss's house for the first few months and log into his to claims games. It'd be nice to have a backlog on day one. :)

So I played through the first few hours of Dungeons Siege 3: it's a pretty fun action-RPG. It's not a Diablo or Torchlight level of quality (nor it appears to have such depth so far), but it's good. The combat system could be a little bit better, same for the menus, but given how there aren't many top-view action RPGs on the X360 (that are actually good anyway), it's a solid buy for 5 bucks.

It seems available on the web to me? I don't know whether you'll be able to download for free without the console though.

Well, maybe. It's been about 50/50 whether they put the DLC related to the game on sale. For example, Sleeping Dogs had it's DLC marked down for half off while it was a GwG, but Dead Island didn't. You could even look as far back as Fable 3 or Magic both not having their DLCs placed on sale at the same time.

Finished Peggle 2, 60 levels done, 60 challenges done, 180 optional objectives done, currently standing in the top 30 worldwide with the scores. Great game, not sure if I became better or it's easier to 100% it than older Peggle games - probably the second option mostly. I would have 400/400'd it as well, except there's a glitched achievement: Coolest Clear, which involves getting a cool clear on your final shot (which is, getting the last orange THEN clear the rest of the board, so you need to hit at least one blue that clears the level afterwards). I did this like a dozen times on regular matches as it's supposed to be done, but it doesn't unlock. A quick look on the Internet shows other people have this ossie too, but likely not everyone, since there are people who have that achievement. So yeah, if you're an achievement hunter, you might want to be careful with Peggle 2 for now, as this one achievement is glitched. Hopefully they'll patch it soon.

It would be in there best interest to let 360 owners dl the free one games if they are an xbox live subscriber because then they will build a library of one games and be tied to buying a one to play them.

This. I can see why they wouldn't want to do it, to encourage people to buy the console sooner rather than having them stuck and buy whenever, but if you score plenty of free games for Xbox One already, you're very likely going to buy the console and stick to the Xbox brand altogether. I saw that you can buy Max right now on your browser though, so I assume you can "buy" it even when it's free?

Wow, that sale suddenly got a lot better. Tempted to get Just Cause 2, although I never finished it when I rented it all those years ago. Deus Ex is a bit more dicey. The last time I was encouraged to buy a first-person shooter, I was stuck with Far Cry 3: We'll Shove a Cactus Up Your Arse and You'll LIKE It.

That's because they goofed, and messed up implementing the sale for GWG in February. Which is why we had a random sale on Dead Island/Toy Soldiers DLC in the last month or two.

But you're still right, Dungeon Defenders never got a sale on its DLC, as well as any other GWG games that have DLC I'm missing. :wall:

Hmm on the fence for PvZ: GW for Xbox One, got Ghosts, BF4, and Titanfall and hardly have time to play those, but I do have plenty of Xbox credit.

Almost bought Just Cause 2 back in December when it was on sale for $7.50. I think I still have it on disc somewhere, but at under $5, I couldn't resist - especially since I paid a lot less than $5 for that $5.

I got that game closer to when it first launched and I still don't regret it. It's a tons of fun, I highly recommend it.

Interesting, does the game itself acknowledge the cool clear? I didn't have any problems with that achievement, but I did have the all challenges achievement for the Master Windy glitched, although there's a work around for it that worked for me. That's too bad, if it is indeed glitched as it is a wonderful game.

Gamefly is having another nice Xbox One sale.

$25 each - Ryse, Assassin's Creed 4, Dead Rising 3, Forza 5, NFS Rivals, LEGO Marvel, Zoo Tycoon, and Fighter Within*

I wish I had gamefly credit. If I did I'd be all over the launch lineup just to beat the DLC. I might just wait and hope that it goes sub-20 at some point.

Then save up your credit until you run out of games to play. PvW:GW will be cheaper by the time you actually get around to playing it.

I don't know about full games, but you definitely can download and redeem Xbox One DLC on the website without having an Xbox One. I did this for the day one cars with Forza 5 which I only bought last month.

Probably the best idea, I'll most likely be picking up Watch Dogs launch day digital which leaves me credit for 2 more future games.

Is Hitman: Blood Money considered the best game in the series?

It was good when it came out, but I didn't think it aged well when I played it with the HD collection. Hitman games seem to get better each game. My favorite was newest one.

Seeing how they are copying what Sony is doing in all these changes, I have to assume they are going to copy that part too. I have a bunch of PS4 games saved up already and that is definitely an incentive to buy a PS4, which is something I am saving for now. If I start having a library of Xbox One games saved up, it's going to push me toward eventually getting an Xbox One too.

This. I bought the HD collection last year to try and get into the series but man Blood Money has not aged well.

AC4 is worth buying right now. Buy it and then move it to the front of your list. Especially if you're a fan of the series. The story is great and it's easy enough to 100%

Dark Souls is going to be free, huh?

Dark Souls for free is actually a brilliant marketing ploy. Controller sales will rise up to the skies!

Do they include an option so I can gift dark souls to someone I don't like?
"Hey, you! Yes, you! You're still butthurt over that guy who 720 quickscoped you in Call Of Duty while jumping down the roof? Did you smash your controller in an incontrollable act of raging? You wish you could somehow get back at him, besides sending him messages about how was his mum in bed last night? Wish no more, because we've got what you need! Gift Dark Souls To A Friend. Gift Dark Souls To A Friend is the best way to act revenge on that cheeky little c*nt that ruined your afternoon and caused you to turn your controlled inside out. For a limited price (costs may vary) you can gift your worst enemies a game that is guaranteed (we actually don't guarantee anything) to make him break not one, not two, but at least three controllers. And this is just prologue! Call 5-555-DRKSLS-SUXS, the first 50 buyers can also gift Super Meat Boy for no extra charge!"

Doesn't Dark Souls allow you to have another player join into your world, to help or hurt?  Couldn't that second person help you through the game?  Clearly a bunch of people are now going to have this game to play, both friends in real life and people from this site, so couldn't you get help from someone if you find it too difficult?

I've never played it and am trying to avoid information as I'm interested in the challenge, but am curious about this.

There can be left over messages from another player that could help or hurt you (give you faulty information). Most often they hurt you lol.

You cannot use voice chat or party (private works) which can make it difficult to play with randoms. If you want to play with a friend, you'll have to look up a guide. Even if you do look up a guide to play with friends, it still might not work.

People have found ways around the level restrictions when invading. I'm not sure how. So you can have a guy invade you game and kill you in one hit. It's much worse on PC where invaders can steal your stats leaving you with a useless character.

Finding your friend to play co-op with is one of the challenges that makes the game so hard.

Yes it does. Though you don't connect the same way other games allows you to, there are certain requirements that you have to meet and you need to shuffle between servers. It might sound complicated but it isn't.

Dark souls isn't even difficult, its just perpetuated that way by people who haven't even played it.
I played it, and I say it's difficult, albeit I play way more difficult games (bullet hells, mostly). It's difficult because it gives you no instructions whatsoever, and playing it without a guide, knowledge of the saga, indication, or anything, is an exercise in frustration, especially when you find out that the 20 tries or so you wasted on that difficult road weren't supposed to be done, because the right way is somewhere else. Also cheap enemy placement. It is fairly easy once you realize 90% of the fights all you do is roll-attack-roll-attack, but the way I see it the massive hype is for the difficulty: both positively and negatively. Games of this difficulty, 20 years ago, wouldn't have stood out, nowadays they do, hence the love-hate relationship with DS. It's confusing without a guide, and difficult until you "get it". And with the average of difficulty of mainstream games nowadays, that can usually be completed on Hard without excessive sweating, it's no surprise the game is considered hard.

It has a tutorial at the beggining, most of us just don't pay attention to it and i plead guilty of those charges. Also there is no right way to go, basicly the game is divided in two parts, besides that you can do as you please with some areas being more difficult than others but are still doable. Cheap enemy placement, i'll give you that to some degree. I didn't get to play too much videogames as a child but Ninja Gaiden for NES was pretty difficult for it's time IMO, and AFAIK the game stood out. And you just hit the spot with games difficulty nowadays, most peóple avoid it or call it super hard because with each generation we get more and more spoiled with the difficulty on games. All in all the game is pretty good,is just about learning the game even though it has a couple of really assholish moments.
