Simpsons Arcade Game confirmed for THIS FRIDAY.

There's unlockables, such as the Japanese version, flyers & posters, among other things.
Will get!
LOL. you guys are really stretching the definition of ownership. by your logic, I own thousands of titles through Netflix...
i don't understand why it is so important for some of you to own a game forever

nothing is "owned" forever, everything eventually stops working, heck your own body will some day stop working

people around here constantly talk about their huge backlog, so do you often go back and playthrough games you already beat? only your absolute favorites i imagine if at all, you'll never touch the good (at best) games ever again unless you are moving them to a different shelf

psn plus gives me the opportunity to play games for "free" that i otherwise never would've played, it is worth every cent of $50

not to mention saving well over $50 with the extra discounts on games i can keep "forever"

also there is a chance that we won't be able to transfer our downloadable games to the next console, so when these consoles get their final rrod or ylod and those consoles are no longer sold on the market, those downloadble games are officially gone forever

Awesome, i wanted to get Simpsons on PS3 and 360, but didnt want to pay for it twice. Now that Plus gets it free, i can buy this version too :D.

Either way, cant wait for the nostalgia explosion. This was my favorite game of all time (More-so than X-Men Arcade), last time i lucked out and ran into an arcade machine for it, i ended up playing for like 2 hours straight
i think the only thing they can do is close access to downloading it again or remove online access/features. otherwise I don't know how xbox could force you to delete something from your library or why they'd even want to.
I was one of the people who downloaded the leaked Mass Effect 3 demo. It became unusable and has one of those yellow error icons like a corrupt download does in my 360 memory browser. I believe I had a beta that the same thing happened to. While they didn't delete it from my hard drive, they can remove access to something that's sitting on your drive if you connect to live.
Portal 2 had free DLC. ??? Maybe their policy is different for XBLA titles, though.
Portal 2 was also on PS3 and they got the dlc for free so that usually effects it for 360 owners.

I love your use "of" quotes for the word own. Your reasoning is flawed. Just because something breaks doesn't mean you don't own it.

oh i see, you're one of those hoarders that keeps things even if they are broken

hey bud, that toaster from 1982 doesn't work anymore so toss it in the garbage already

ironic that somebody that pays for online when he can get it for free is against "free" games you can "own" for a year

also if only having the games for a year bothers you, just buy the game and "own" it forever

Does anybody have advice on how to get daft people to shut up already about PS+ and owning vs. renting? I've tried everything I can think of, but nothing has worked. Surely there is a solution, so your advice is appreciated.

Try PMing them asking to take it to PMs. I am doing my best to resist talking about it any further since its getting a bit off topic.

Report it to the mods... It had mostly died down after the mods cleaned house this morning, but Barry and co started the argument up again.

Back on topic -

Anyone play Happy Fun Time Theatre or whatever it's called yet? I feel like my 4 year old would get a total kick out of that one. For 800 points, I'm fairly likely to buy. And for those wondering why I'd pay 800 points for a game for him and not the Simpsons for me, well, it's worth more to me to keep him entertained! :)

I was trying to be funny, but apparently not succeeding. :) And also trying to clear the discussion out. Maybe that part worked.

I have Double Fine Happy Action Theater queued up. Won't get to try it until tomorrow at the earliest, though. It looks entertaining. To me 800 points seems like a lot for a toy, but I still might get it if it proves to be fun for kids (and me) and for parties.

That video definitely got me interested in the game and getting a Kinect in general. I'm looking at DFHAT, Gunstringer, maybe Dance Central but not sure if it justifies me getting one atm.
Friday. Weird.
I can also vouch that it's legit. I bought a card last week and received the code shortly after paying. I redeemed the code on xbox.com without any issues. I was surprised that I received the code by e-mail since I was under the impression that a card would be mailed. I'm not complaining, though.

$10 is a lot for a toy? Hmm. I don't know, but most of the toys for my kids run at a min. of 5 bucks to 50 easy. Just saying. Toys are not cheap unless you buy that crap for a couple bucks that break after 3 minutes. This is just my personal experience with two kids. Being cheap I always look for the Target clearance for toys. :)
I easily spent >$10 on The Simpson's in arcades so I'll have no problem picking it up for that much.
Pretty much what he said. Whenever I think about the cost of XBLA games I just remember pouring 75 cents or more into arcade cabinets to play Dragon's Lair and Crossbow one time. LoL

Still, I would do it tomorrow if arcades made a comeback. You can't replace that atmosphere.
Hell yeah xbox rewards stay gold get 5% of all purchases and survey is double points this month!
YES! While better than what Best Buy gives me in rewards (below 2%), not quite up to the 200MSP for 2 XBLA titles nor the 160MSP for 1600MSP of DLC. This is right up there for the best of the rewards program. The 40MSP for the survey is nice too.
For anyone in need of MS points:

Xbox LIVE 4000 Microsoft Points Card - $39.99 w/FS (16 available)
This is nice to add to my stock of Microsoft Points for this month's rewards. Savings on top of rebates, makes any CAG happy ^^.
The fine print for the 5% back says "Marketplace purchases include Avatar items, game add-ons, movie purchases or rentals and Xbox LIVE Arcade games."

Anyone know if that includes Xbox Indies, too?
Where can I find the fine print? I was contemplating Deathsmiles 2X for the 5% back, and that's something on Games On Demand which is part of the "marketplace" but not in the fine print you mentioned. Also if Indie titles also count, there are a few I may purchase and would add to the 5% back.

This rewards offer does put me in a position where I should try my best to keep the 5% return in a nice round number. There are DLC I want which has price point values ending in "50" or some other number that will leave me with a Microsoft Point value which could be just odd and I'd be unable to spend (say a 250MSP purchase will leave me with 12.5MSP where not even the Bullet Witch DLC at 20MSP each can help me even out the balance).

A fine rewards offer does get me happy. Since DLC definitely qualifies for February's offer, I have been contemplating all those odd add-ons which will likely never see the light of a sale. One day, I will have to win one of those dashboard sweepstakes which gives thousands of Microsoft points, just so I can buy all the BS DLC for all the odd games which overcharges for content not worth the price but I'd still want to experience.

Also, I have not forgotten I promised the rest on this thread that I was going to purchase an XBLA title I wanted on sale but never did because the Live team is likely waiting on me to break down and buy it at full price. So now is as good a time as ever for me to get Soul Calibur from XBLA, so that everyone else can finally get a sale on it. Sure I said March, but end of February is just as good ^^.

To me the 5% reward is the perfect time to get some of those recently reduced games and addons.

I am going to create a page on xbldb.com that has this info. If an offer has dropped, because of a sale, even further I'll mark it as expired. Look for it this weekend or early next week.

Is there anything else I should include in the list?

This, many times over. Especially with the rewards deal going on.

It is on the first page at the very bottom when you are logged-in.

Entirely off topic, but I recently got around to playing Radiant Silvergun from the DotW a couple months ago. I've put a few hours in last night and tonight.

I'm not much of a shmup guy, but with the upgrades and some grinding I set my goal to get through story mode.

Alas, I feel that it's not going to happen. Which is too bad, because I'm really enjoying the game. But looks like the only way I might ever beat it is on Arcade mode with lots of extra continues in the bag. It's just too hard for me. :whistle2:(

I used to think that.... then after putting about a hundred hours into Saturn mode I ended up with the ability to 1cc it ^_^

....keep at it!

Pardon the n00b question, but what does 1cc mean?
Pardon the n00b question, but what does 1cc mean?
I think he means one credit, meaning he never uses a continue.

Well I picked up Double Fine Happy Theater today. It's interesting. Probably a lot more fun if booze was involved. :)

You gotta play those "games" with friends and alcohol. Had a blast on NYE playing with the random assortment that is free on the marketplace. When you are drunk it makes it so much better.

1cc means "one credit clear", just as described above. Sorry, sometimes I can't shut the shmup off in mah brain!

I've got lots of points to spend and this 5% msp back from rewards is okay of a deal I suppose. What can you recommend for me fellow cagers? I am thinking of getting the Defense Grid: You Monster dlc, maybe even the Costume Quest: Grubbins On Ice and perhaps even the new dlc for Iron Brigade: Rise Of The Martian Bear, also Ilomilo: Autumn Tale, Space Invaders: Extreme Expansion Pack.

I suggest the Grubins on Ice DLC. It's only $5 and if you liked Costume Quest, Grubbins is more of the same. In a good way though. Plus it's an easy 50 gamerscore. I really don't think it'll ever go on sale. I highly recommend it!

Quick question, pretty off topic.

Is there ANYTHING similar to this thread or xbldb for the PS3? I really am only looking at a few things to drop in price on that.

Other XBLA DLC I'm interested in is Toy Soldiers DLC, Keflings DLC, ITSP DLC, and the Maw DLC

Not that I know of, in regards to xbldb anyway. Xbldb.com scans prices on xbox.com. Since Playstation's website is really crappy and doesn't list games and prices the same way xbox.com does, I don't know if an xbldb for PS3 would be possible.

I'm sure Spylon may be able to give a much more detailed answer.

However, there is a PSN thread on CAG.

I've waited years for a sale on the Maw DLC, but this is probably as good as it's going to get. I also want the Keflings DLC. I gotta look through my games/achievements list and see if there's any other DLC I'm missing and want to complete. I have plenty of MSP anyway.

Yeah, at 100msp each, I don't see The Maw DLC ever dropping lower than that. 5% back is probably as good as it's going to get for those. I may pick them up, though I didn't love The Maw, I would like another completed game on my profile ;)
