I normally buy multi-plats on the 360 because it's my preferred console and I like achievements better than trophies, but I wound up getting The Walking Dead on PS3. I don't understand why the 360 version couldn't have a season pass.

Good question. Since it will all be in game purchases anyway (or so I hear) they could sell 2-5 for 1200 msp. That seems like it would have been a good idea.

Update: It's coming on Friday according to Major Nelson's twitter.
But if your account is region-locked, and 5x5's are region-locked, and the storefront you access is region-locked ... so WTF are you talking about with "international points"? If the code doesn't have a specific region, then congrats, but your account is still locked to purchase only content unlocked for your region.

And no, it's not a confusing system if you can count by 80's ... it seems to suit EA and other companies implementing FunBucks payment systems just fine. I, for one, appreciate not having a credit-card on my account in case of theft or auto-renew, and easily juice it up with retail point-cards.
You are right when stating that accounts and storefronts are region locked and I don't play Games for Windows on my PC but I'm sure you're right about the 5x5 access keys too. You are also right when stating that an account is locked to only purchase region specific content. The original question was if Microsoft points were international. I had never heard the term applied to them and went straight to the source relaying that Microsoft described them as "crossing international borders" from the xbox website. http://www.xbox.com/en-US/live/microsoftpoints

I agree with your implication that it doesn't matter if the points themselves are international if the account or storefront is region specific. This makes eastx 's comment about bing points being a best bet for multiple account users very true. I didn't mean to imply that accounts/storefronts were not region specific but I can see where it may have been taken that way. I was simply providing a respose directly from Microsoft. Sorry for the lack of transparency, I don't want anybody to get upset with me like poor louiedog!

I still think the whole point system is intentionally difficult and confusing. Because I can count by 80 I also find it harder to accept when something costs an amount other than 80,160,240,320 etc. For example, it is frustrating when you buy something at a discount and end up with 790 points. Later if you want to purchase something for 800, you are forced to obtain at least 400 points to get the 10 you need as 400 is the smallest amount you can obtain. I do agree with you completely on the positives of buying points without the use of a credit card though.

In fact, I may have to go pick up some PSN points to grab Walking Dead and nobody wants credit card info with Sony!;)

Weak sale this week? I'll wait for a Steam sale on Walking Dead as I'd rather play it on PC for cheaper. ;)

This is the thing that annoys me most about the points, as exact change is a payment option that's expected now when both of their competitors offer it. I have about $4 in points, so any XBLA game that I want to purchase ends up costing full price any way since I can't apply those points to take a $10 game down to $6 or a $15 game down to $11. It doesn't matter to me if it takes a switch from points to real money for that to happen, but it has to happen.

Looks like there's going to be more Sega Vintage Collections in addition to the Monster World and Alex Kidd & Co. ones. There's gonna be Streets of Rage 1, 2, & 3 and Golden Axe 1, 2, & 3. Though all 6 of those games are on the Ultimate Genesis Collection.

I bet MS didn't want The Walking Dead to compete with Blood Forge XD It looks so bad...

I really want to pick up Monster World!!

I played some of it last night. It wasn't enough to form much of an opinion or recommend it, but it was better than I thought it would be. I did go in with very low expectations, so there is that. I will say that I think it looks a lot better than it shows on video. Internet video compression on dark games, especially when in the Unreal engine, always makes my eyes bleed. The camera wasn't an issue either when I was playing even though it looked awful on video when someone else was in control.

I guess what I'm getting at is that I didn't have a bad time, whatever that's worth. I'll try more later and see how it is after that first 30-40 minutes.

Good that more collections are coming. Bad that it's those games. C'mon SEGA put in a little effort and bring a Saturn game or two to XBLA (ie. Shining Force 3).
I already have the Genesis collection.

It would apparently take a great deal more than a little effort to port a Saturn game. The system's hardware architecture makes emulation much more difficult than normal. Supposedly it's one of, if not the, most difficult console to emulate. Treasure sunk a large amount of time & money into porting Radiant Silvergun to XBLA.

I'm really interested in that Monster World collection too, though I really cannot understand why they chose to include only 3 of the 6 titles in the Wonder Boy franchise... other than because they want to release Wonder Boy III: Monster Lair, Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap and the original Wonder Boy in another collection, that is. A part of me is hoping that the missing games will in fact be available as hidden unlockables, as they did with some games in the Ultimate Genesis Collection, especially because the old Sega Ages version for PS2 included all games on its disc...

And I'm also psyched for Telltale's The Walking Dead! The trailer hit all the right strings for me, luckily friday is almost there... :)

"Little effort" is a relative term. SEGA did develop a windows based Satrun emulator so you can argue that part of the work had already been done. Yes, it's not as simple as slapping the code on XLA and having it run, but I wasn't suggesting that it would. They ported Guardian Heroes so they certainly can do it for other Saturn games if they really wanted to.

Sega maintained two versions of some of their late 90's titles: a Saturn version and a PC version. The PC versions were not using an emulator, they were running on native x86 code.
Is that Walking Dead game a point and click adventure, or something else?
It... kind of is. It has a lot of timer-based elements. Even the conversations are timed.
Is that Walking Dead game a point and click adventure, or something else?
It's not necessarily "point and click", but it is an adventure game like all the other Telltale series.

It was only released in japan for SEGA fan club members. The name escapes me at the moment.

Don't worry guys. At some point I'll break down and shell out for Shining Force III via eBay. The next week, Sega will announce that it's coming to XBLA and PSN.

Someone else can bite the bullet on Panzer Dragoon Saga though.

Hmm, interesting. I knew they released PC ports of some of their Saturn games, but never an emulator. I'd be interested to hear if you remember the name as I can't find anything about it on Google.

Not me. I already have a copy.

GameSpot is giving away beta codes for Hybrid on XBLA. I believe an account (free) is required.

You can get one here. The codes do not appear to be active yet. The beta starts on the 27th.

Wow, and I thought I was special because I got accepted to it today through previously applying to be in it a few weeks back.

I have a bad habit of getting into many betas and not playing them. ..... and I got a beta key for this one too. Thanks!
I hope that Shenmue 1 & 2 HD are actually coming out, maybe I can finally unload my Dreamcast versions of them.
And I hope enough people buy it that Sega reconsiders doing Shenmue 3.
And I hope enough people buy it that Sega reconsiders doing Shenmue 3.
I would be so happy, it was the best game on Dreamcast. I would totally buy Shenmue 3, even as a XBLA game.
Oh didn't see that post. Ok off with my head.
If it makes you feel better neither of them saw my even earlier post. :)
Anyone thinking of getting NBA Jame: OFE should pass on it... Honestly, its got a horrendous bug (which seems to be tied to the contacting the EA server) that corrupts all of your data. Its seems to be very random... but after it hits the game just locks up your 360 solid and you have to hard reboot it.

I've been hit buy it twice, the first time I'll admit I might have done something stupid but I don't think I did... The second time, I know I've done nothing wrong/stupid/questionable. Hell, I didn't even turn the darn thing off without going through the menu. EA has been very quite on the issues if they've even acknowledged it and the NBA Jam forum has allot of people complaining about it.

So, yeah, I would avoid it...

Edit: I bought it the last time it was on sell... So it wasn't twice this week. Instead there was allot of gameplay in between.
Yep, the freeze bug has hit me three different times since NBA Jam came out.

And each time, you have to delete your game save file. :(

Major glitch that EA continues to ignore:

Holy Shit did you guys hear that Walking Dead Ep. 1 drops on Friday!?!?!?!?

Anyways, I'm in the same boat as Frisky. I remember hearing that "Shenmue HD has been done for over a year" thing a couple months back and, though I guess it's not impossible, I really don't have any clue why they would want to hold up the release of a finished product for that long.

It's possible that the lawyers discovered a contract or licensing issue from the original release that's holding it up. It would either have to be complicated, involve someone really stubborn, or be really expensive to solve for it to take a year.
The Shenmue HD rumors sound ridiculous since there's no way the game would be done for over a year with no desire to release it immediately.
The new Toy Soldiers DLC has been done for a half year.

There are things behind the scenes that can dramatically slow up XBLA releases.

If it was submitted, it would've been released by now, but the rumor is that it's finished and they're just sitting on it.

thanks for the heads up, been looking to this one for a long time so it would be great to check out the beta.

Finished the Walking Dead Ep 1 on PS3 and I very much like it but it's definitely not for everybody.

It's all about the characters and the story basically. It's like a visual choose your own adventure novel. If you want zombie blasting action don't bother. Imo it's much more for fans of games like Heavy Rain or 999 and not as much for fans of more actiony games like Left 4 Dead or Dead Rising.

Like I said I really liked it though and it's probably right there as one of my favorite games this year so far. Can't wait for the second episode.

In other words, it's actually faithful to The Walking Dead.
