No freaking way. I can't believe Capcom is giving this the HD treatment instead of something more deserving like Darkstalkers, Project Justice or Powerstone. Horrible game. I bought it when it came out on the DC and it's the worst Capcom fighter on that system.
That is the first time I have ever read negative things about JoJo's. That is an outlier opinion, no offense.

They really, really should port the Power Stone games too though!

Yes, this is my opinion so it's entirely subjective. People discuss Jojo? Didn't think the game sold that many copies. ;)
Anyway, it has a weird fighting system, unappealing (to me) art style, and I really don't care much for the characters themselves. This is from someone who enjoyed the anime very much. The game just did not click with me.

I agree. I bought JoJo for Dreamcast on the hype. It was definitely different and interesting, but nothing that special overall. I'd so much rather see Vampire Savoir/Darkstalkers 3 HD. $20 day one purchase hands down.
So Hydrophobia isn't even worth the 200msp? what I'm getting from peoples posts so far...
That's a tough one. For 200 points...go for it. But it is rough, although there some great ideas. The more the game went on, the more the problems arise and the game tries to do too much in too short a time. Still worth the points for the cheetos and avatar awards alone.

Also wow at JoJo being announced for 360. Never did i ever expect that.

Day 1 buy for me, cant wait to scream "WRRRRRYYYYY" into my mic and actually be relevant
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure HD is coming to XBLA! Now there's a Capcom fighter I didn't expect to see rereleased.
Boo! Give us Power Stone already!!!

-------

Banjo-Kazooie N&B had a $5 off ad on the dash last night. My guess is that it hits the 1200pts/$15 tonight or soon.

Every-time I see a Oblivion sale mentioned, I place my hopes that they finally put on sale all the DLC that was not included with the GOTY and always am disappointed. They may have put the horse armor on sale last year, but who wants that even for free?
So Hydrophobia isn't even worth the 200msp? what I'm getting from peoples posts so far...
I just beat it. Not a great game by any means but not the worst thing I've ever played. Worth 200 points imo.
So Hydrophobia isn't even worth the 200msp? what I'm getting from peoples posts so far...
Yeah, I think it's worth 200msp easily. I bought it for 400msp and wasn't disappointed at all.
Would have loved to get my hands on a dungeon fighter code. 2 more days shouldn't be too bad of a wait though. Played it a bit on the PC, but having a controller and friends would definitely make it better.
A couple guys have it on the XBLA trading thread. One dude was asking $12 FIRM for it (hahahaha) but he's down to $9 FIRM now. I wouldn't exactly say he was FIRM on that $12 price.

I know for a fact it was all on sale at one point.... because I own all of it and I definitely wouldn't pay full price for every dlc.

edit: and thanks for the further thoughts on Hydrophobia, sounds like it IS worth the 200 haha, gonna go ahead and pull the trigger on that.

So I just saw this on Slidetoplay. I assumed Angry Birds was going to be laughably priced at $15. I guess I should bust a gut now. I had assumed these are coming to XBLA. Or are these coming to disc? I haven't heard either way.
WTF was that? That second round was crazy and then to be followed up by that? A one hit ko super. What the fuck?
That's kusoge for you (although I'd like to think that it was just a hail mary that P1 completely forgot to block). For more fun, look up Sengoku Basara Cross by the same devs (Arc System Works).

i'll just wait the two days. if it was a longer wait i'd be more tempted. $1 savings isn't worth the time when i already have the points waiting. thanks for letting me know about that thread though. i'll have to keep my eye on it.

Lol, i would buy it for 9$ if i hadnt had the 800 points sitting in my account too (I added them back when the game had a release date on May 30th
I won a code 10 minutes ago and am downloading it now. Add me if you want. :)
If you don't mind me asking, Where/how did you win a code?

Civilization Revolution is fantastic guys, just buy it. I've been playing it at least once a week since 2008 and currently bored out of my mind with it and waiting for a sequel.

I enjoyed the original TS before hitting a wall when the tanks started showing up so I think I'll pick up Cold War. I was waiting for it to finally get a sale.

Hydrophobia seems to be especially polarizing. I have it free from PS+ and have mildly enjoyed it from what I have played. It's 200 points for an XBLA game. Why not?

The Splatters looks kind of neat. I'll try the demo tonight.

I still have the finish the original Splosion Man but I might demo Ms. and pick it up. I'm liking these backup contest offers.

I have the same issue that most of my friend list seems to ignore arcade titles, at least the ones online when I am lately. I also often only have a half hour or so to play and play weird old games that I'm finally getting around to. If you are up late, like dead arcade titles, and want to play in short bursts feel free to add me LOL.

Spelunky was kind of an odd case for me. The genre is so up my alley that I thought it was a no-brainer, especially with all the praise everyone has been giving it. Then I tried the demo and it just felt kind of flat and soulless to me. Maybe I just wasn't in the right mood or the demo wasn't very indicative of the full game. It's weird because I normally love classic platformers but it just didn't strike me.
I can't believe Jojo made it to XBLA/PSN before the Alpha games.

Tragedy!!

Oh, well, I can't wait to get it.
Yeah... I really want Alpha 3 Dash Upper on console so badly...

I'll still get Jojo's for sure though.

Had the exact same experience. Just "meh." I don't get the hype.

Yeah, I wasn't really impressed, which was such a shame to me. For a game that relies on platforming the mechanics feel sloppy. Not running is sluggish and tough to reach most areas. Running then feels too fast and imprecise. The whip felt clumsy as did carrying the damsel around and bombing through floors. After a demo I should want to play more but I wasn't compelled to play more at all after this one.

I also say this as someone who usually likes these critical indie darlings like Super Meat Boy, Braid, and Limbo and grew up on awesome platformers. Just not for me I guess.

P.S. How is the multiplayer holding up on Section 8? I played it a bit on PC a while back and it was quite fun. The single player was good but I probably won't double dip if the multiplayer is dead.

Man, I couldn't agree more with everything you just said. It's just not that well done. I got pretty bored with it after about 30 minutes, and I love the other games you mentioned, too.

Exactly, I'm glad I'm not the only one.

While I'm here as well I have to gripe about an absolutely ridiculous development I've noticed with some Microsoft arcade games and apps lately. They constantly spin your disc drive! It might seem like a minor thig but it is unacceptable to me because there is no reason whatsoever for this to occur. What is the reason behind it?

I've noticed this with Trials Evolution, the Splatters, and even the Sales app for crying out loud! So you're subjecting my system to stress on the optical drive and me to the noise for something that has nothing to do with the game in my tray?

So I can run a full retail game installed from a disc without it spinning but can't run an arcade game from the hard drive or an app? It's madness. I now have to eject my game to play an arcade game. It might seem minor but it's actually becoming a bit of a disincentive for me to play them. Can someone give me a reason for this?
Me. Won R-type Dimentions
I REALLY wanted to win that.

I was a huge R-Type fan back in the day, and I don't think it'll be a DotW ever again. 1200 is steep though.

You can easily trade for it in the Xbox 360 code trading forum.
Wow, $40 for Angry Birds. Good luck with that.
But it's a trilogy. The mere mention of the word puts it up there with Lord of the Rings and the Care Bears movies.

Update about Dungeon Fighter LIVE: it does indeed have matchmaking. You have to go to the party screen, pick a level, and then choose to Search for a Party from the menu that pops up. Sorry about missing that earlier.

People will buy it. $40 for a hugely popular game that people spend literally HUNDREDS of hours playing? For some people, Angry Birds is their Skyrim.

Yeah, that may sound silly to some of us, but you can't call it a bad deal in terms of dollars-to-hours.

Sure. Next you'll tell me that a $20 XBLA game will become the best selling game on the service in just a few weeks.

Sure I can. Why would anyone pay that much for a game that you can play for free or at most 3$ on a number of phones and tablets?

I'm not saying some people won't buy it but this has got to be the most rediculous thing to hit the xbox since horse armor!

Ah nice, i already added a ton of people to party with though. A game like this could be annoying to play with randoms

On a side note, are there a lot of different skill builds in the game? I know on the PC version most classes had atleast 2 pretty different routes you could go (Like with the Fighter you could focus on grapple moves, or use mostly projectiles)

Yeah, I formed a group with a guy last night. It's pretty clunky though since you both have to be on the same level with the same difficulty. Also when you finish the mission, if you go to town the only option is to disband the party. That means having to do a search/join again.

Overall I like the game. I thought it was going to be like final fight, but I was way off. It's much closer to Diablo/Torchlight.

Hahaha...QFT. I will say though, I think part of the allure of Angry Birds is the "time waster" factor...and being portable is a big part of that. It's still a huge name though, so even if it's not as enjoyable/practical on Xbox, people will still buy it just for that. But for me, the enjoyment comes from being able to play it on the crapper. Speaking of that, I'm still amazed that no one has come out with a parody game..."Angry Turds". Surely, I can't be the only person who is that brilliant, lol.

Free DLC has been announced for Minecraft and Trials Evolution to go along with the Summer of Arcade. Minecraft is getting 5 skins, one for each game in the promotion. Yes, you can finally dig tunnels as Tony Hawk. Trials is getting new maps added each week.

I completely agree. There's no appeal of Angry Birds on a disc for me. That's a game you play while watching TV, not on your TV. I like the game, but it doesn't feel engaging enough to soak up 100% of my attention. Still, I expect it will sell well.

Same here. Since the PS3 doesn't have it then I guess they are just letting it sit.

Has anyone played and can recommend the NAPALM DLC for TS: Cold War?

The description sounds neat and I am not sure if I have ever seen any DLC for the TS games go on sale....sure the main games yeah but not the DLCs...or have they ever been on sale and I missed out?

I have both of the Cold War DLC packs.

They are not worth buying until the price hits 200 points.

There's lots of slowdown on the new maps, and the overall amount of content is real light for the default 400 price point. Wait for the inevitable sale.

I've played both as well and they're both just 3 underwhelming missions, 1 new mini-game, and a new survival/MP map. I thought Evil Empire was significantly better than Napalm, but I don't think either of them are worth $5.

However, I wouldn't call a sale "inevitable" because the original Toy Soldiers DLC has never even been on sale.

The running and jumping is pretty much the same in Spelunky as it is in Super Meat Boy. Fast goes fast. Slow goes slow.

You can breeze through most of the cave levels at full speed.

But when you get to the later worlds, you'll be using the slow walk speed most of the time and will be very thankful for it.
