Well, it's a factor sometimes. but it's not THE determining factor. For instance, I had a chance to buy the retail disc of Watchmen for $10 a year ago, played the demo, thought it was okay, checked out reviews(still leaning away from it) and when I saw the achievement list, said forget it. Especially when someone posted a chievo glitched for them and it was unattainable.

But yes, it plays a factor at times. Mine was ending in a 9 for months and I finally "rented" the disc which has Zuma on it so I could get an achievement which had 6 points and my gs would now end in a 0 or 5. Yeah, OCD
 
Great Deals this week! Got Castle Crashers, Raams Shadow, Orcs Must Die and Blood Dragon Armor.
Need advice on which one to get: Trials HD or Iron Brigade.
Looking forward to next weeks, so I can spend more money!

I know it has to do with licensing issues sometimes. A bunch of midway games got delisted due to license problems(Joust, Smash TV, Ultimate MK3), some the contract just expires(Dash of Destruction, Yaris) and others I have no clue like coffeetime. That got delisted in 2011 sometime I believe. In total there are over 30 arcade that have been delisted from the marketplace, but some you can purchase a code. I did this for Marble Blast Ultra. Bought a $5 code for it on BestBuy.com a few months ago

Cause it just does. It matters to me. I like seeing that 0 or 5. Just like I like watching baseball. Others may think it's boring and the seasons are too long, but that what I like to see when I watch sports. My fav one.

That said, I've put over 5 years into my gamerscore and I can't wait to hit 200,000 before the end of the year. And I will land EXACTLY on 200,000 too ;)

Brother Daz, venture to the Gamerscore nerd sites... there are tons of people who skip games for this reason. It seems insane to me, but apparently it's a thing. Like no Platinum Hits copies on a shelf thing.

In other news, people also refuse to play games with glitched achievements or achievements they can never get. Search for Hellboy: The Science of Evil. More data and ranting is devoted to the fact that achievements don't exist and/or are tied to DLC that never released than there actually was promoting the game.

It's fascinating and a quick way to kill time and your brain cells.

Well, hitting EXACTLY 200K makes more sense than always needing a 5 or 0 at the end, imho.

I did hit 100,000 exactly... for a grand total of 14 seconds. Needed to find a 6 point achievement and popped it in DJ Hero. Then BAM, immediately popped another ten. So depressing.

Could be due to expiring licenses (TMNT), publisher/developers going out of business (Midway's games), or it does so badly that Microsoft delists it. Looking at IGN, it may be that last option since it got a 3.5 and the Metacritic average is about the same. Their other XBLA game (Beat'n Groovy) managed to score even worse than CC with a 2.0.

I'm not sure if Microsoft still delists poorly performing games. I was actually wondering about this the other day. I've been listening to old podcasts while doing some work around the house and over the weekend this topic came up on one. That was back when the Blades interface existed and the marketplace was a complete mess to navigate. They needed to clean it up and I haven't seen anything about that since 2008. It seems like just about every other delist in recent memory has licensing issues attached.

Skipping a game due to tough achievements is crazy to me. I strived always get 1000/1000 in my games, but gave up in 07 after grinding way to many hours in FEAR. I'm cool with havin 95/1000 on my profile now

Btw, I have no platinum hits in my collection :) THAT bugs the hell out of me. If I get a game on goozex and it's platinum, I'll buy a used copy from gamestop and return the platinum version a few days later.
 
Call me crazy but I love when I see odd numbered acheivements. They really stand out and are unique. My Gamerscore currently ends in a 7, which I think is pretty cool. Although I do side with the folks who hate GH boxes. Blech!

I think baseball should be 2 innings shorter, and I'd get back into it. I'm pretty sure I don't do anything for 3 straight hours anymore, my attention span can't handle it.

I just got one of my first greatest hits boxes, MK vs DC Universe on 360. I'll admit it is ugly, but it doesn't actually bother me at all. I have lots of generic boxes, generic Best Buy inserts, and even some cruddy Game Crazy transparent plastic cases. I'm much more worried about the game inside than the case holding it.

I don't mind platinum/greatest hits boxes. My games aren't kept somewhere that I even see them. I do feel bad for my Gears 1 Platinum Hits box though because it's sitting next to signed copies of 2 & 3. It doesn't seem fair to that poor cover.

Its the DLC with campaign. It is the same thing i got. I guess they just wanted to number it so that people would know what the first 4 packs were.

Watchmen 1 wasn't that bad when playing as Rorschach. Lardowl on the other hand was annoyingly slow as hell.
I just played the first chapter of part 2 and it looked like somebody ate cotton candy and barfed all over the screen. The colors were so damn ugly.

Can't I just create a new silver account on my Xbox, create a Raptr account for it, go through those billion steps, and get the codes for the 2 games?

I loved having 7777 in gamerscore. Avoided adding gamerscore for a month. :lol: Gonna be quite a long time before I hit all sevens again.

Yes, you can create or use a preexisting silver account and connect it to Raptr tonight. Then just go thru the steps when it goes live tommorrow.

Told my brother he could log on to his Xbox with my tag to buy Iron Brigade+its DLC and he went a little spend crazy again. I guess I own Worms+its DLC as well as Magic 2012+expansion. Oh well. Glad I bought 2 of those Target 4k cards the other day. Wishing I had bought a 3rd now..

EDIT: He tried to buy Trials HD and its DLC but the joke is on him. Already own them! lol.
 
Really Enjoying Iron / Tenched & Trials HD. Glad I picked them up with the DLC.

Now, on to Watchmen. My wife bought me this about 3 xmas ago. Me and my Buddy went through both games in about a day. It was a day of grind, Can't say either game is fun. There fun for about 10 minutes then it's just rinse and repeat. What sucks is and I know alot of games do this is that the 2nd player doesn't get any achievements. So my friend was pissed he got nothing for helping me grind through this game. I'm not saying at times I didn't have fun cause I did it was fun at times.

Now, grinding games (games that just so much sludge, slow, never ending) one of the worst has to be from XBOX 1, Hunter (series) me and my friend play though, half of one of em, damn that was tuff. The day after I had the biggest headache in my life, glad that series ended.

I have to admit, I just don't really get the whole items for avatars thing. Don't get me wrong, I went through all the steps and its nice to switch things up with some new pieces from time to time but its just not that big of a deal for me. I would certainly never pay money for Avatar items. Paying a couple dollars so my avatar can wear a particular piece of clothing.....simply never going to happen. Some free avatar items, if they are cool looking, is ok but again its just not that big of a deal. Its nice if I get them but I dont give it a second thought if a game doesn't have them. Its really the one aspect to online gaming that really does nothing for me.

I just tried to create a silver account and add it to my Raptr account, but it would not let me because it had no games played.

Hmmm....I added my brothers account, he randomly plays games with me from time to time, so I had a few played games on there. So I didn't run into this problem.

It's cool. I just started Captain America (it was in the disc tray) and played Minecraft for about 15 minutes and got half the achievements and it worked now. SO apparently you do need something on their.

Also though, anyone know what time the deal will go live?

No, probably soon though. I just check every 20-30 mins. With 15,000 codes available, I don't think it will go too fast.
 
Also, in case anyone is interested, I updated my "XBLA games not to receive a sale" list.

From 2011, 29 of the 93 games released have yet to receive a sale, meaning that 69% of XBLA's 2011 portfolio has been on sale at least once. I think that number will easily climb towards 75% before Summer of Arcade, as there are a lot of Dec, Nov, Oct games on the list that will hopefully go on sale soon.

For reference, 2010 has 15 games that have yet to be on sale, out of 85 released. So 82% of 2010's releases have gone on sale.

To me, these numbers are pretty good justification to wait for sales on XBLA games.
