I hope "washing your horse" is a euphemism for something else other than what this story implies. Of course that would make your playing this game even more disturbing. ;)
He just loves "washing his horse".
For $5, I'm a fan of Haunt. It's kind of easy but generally atmospheric and some decent humor to boot. In general, you could think of it like a first person Luigi's Mansion. And it seems to work well in the confines of the Kinect.
That sounds pretty appealing, actually. I'm going to have to grab the demo.

Wow, this is a big week. I may need to pick up Haunt, Castle Crashers, and Iron Brigade. Need to check out some trials tonight.

I highly recommend anyone with a Kinect to check out Happy Action Theater. It's by far the most fun my kids and I have had with any Kinect game.

Looks like I'm going to pick up:
Haunt - Played the demo really liked the Luigi's Mansion vibe and my kinect library is lacking.
Castle Crashers - I'm probably one of the few people who doesn't own this.
Trenched/Iron Brigade - Still trying to decide if I should pick up the DLC for it.
Outland - Picking this up next week. Played the demo and I liked the Silhouette Mirage / Ikaruga vibe to it.

I have 600 points left and I'm debating between Raams Shadow or Trenched and Kinect Sports DLC.
Damn so trenched isnt good for single player then huh? I guess ill play with randoms
No one on my friends list had the game when I played the bulk of it and I had a great time with randoms. I picked up the Martian Bear DLC yesterday and played a few games last night. The only people with mics were using them to call out enemies and everyone was helpful and playing well. I generally don't run into a lot of talkative 12-year-olds, trash talking bros, racists, etc. in XBLA games online. I fully endorse this game and it is much better in multiplayer, even with randoms.

yeah that seems to be my promblem aswell. No one person on my friends list plays arcade games unless their super popular and well known. I dont mind playing with randoms. Alright looks like i found another arcade game to add to my growing collection, plus its a doublefine game and you can NEVER go wrong with doublefine.

Looking back at that post, it looks like it can be taken the wrong way. I was originally gonna say I was grooming the horse, but THAT sounded weirder. Now I am just screwed. I'm going back to playing Gears of War lol

Yeah go play tug of war with your gears. ;)

Anyone with kids under the age of 7-8 should grab Happy Action Theater. My 5 year old adores it, and it's the first game that my 2.5, now 3 year old daughter kept wanting to play with daddy.

I got Trials HD for me. 50% on both is DoubleFine (see what I did there?)

FYI in case this hasn't been brought up, but there's a new version of Magic coming out this summer (Magic 2013) although for $7.50 you get the full game and its major expansion so that's a good price. There's 2 or 3 more extra deck packs that are $3 each if you're interested.

If this is true could you provide a link? I never liked magic before it became an arcade game and it has become one of those games that enjoy playing atleast a couple times a week even after getting all the achievements for both games.

Today's deal is CID the Dummy at 75% off ($1.24)

In a world obsessed with safety the once lowly Crash Impact Dummy has risen to a position of great importance amongst us. Their day job - crashing, smashing, checking, re-checking and re-rechecking everything from lemonade to escalators to make the world a better place. Now, the Crash Impact Dummy inventor, Dr. B.M.
Genre: Action
The game is surprisingly long, and there is already free DLC with the wavy tubeman chronicles. I would say pass on Real Big Shooting since it's a straight-up shooting gallery as well. No story aspect im aware of.
Thanks for the tip. I already have the free TC and will actually play the game before making a decision on DLC that costs money. Why I would consider paying more money for game content when I don't even know if I like the main game is beyond me.
How is Happy Action Theater? I heard on the Bombcast that it's fun. edit: I went ahead and got it figuring the kids will like it. I bought a bunch of stuff from this sale. Now the only things I'm thinking about but haven't decided on are the Kinect Sports Season 2 add-ons. I have the base game but I'm just not sure about the add-ons? Opinions?
KS 1 and 2 are kind-of my go to Kinect games so I usually buy the DLC when they put it on sale (or offer it for free of course) so that I have new stuff to keep me interested. Skiing is not one of my favorites but figured for 200 points I would still get some enjoyment out of it. As strange as it sounds I like the "atmosphere" that a night-time scene brings even when it is something fake displayed on my TV.

Wrong thread?

Since I had MS points sitting in my account, I picked up Iron Brigade and Castle Crashers. Played the demo for Haunt and my 13yr old son said it was too kid-ish even for him. He said why is it called Haunt and it's not even scary lol.

Holy crap! I was busy and hadn't checked the thread since Monday night. Come back and there's like 10 new pages to read through! A good thing as it's due to the interest of the current sales to be sure but man alive it took a while to read. Nice that this week's sale has some variety and quality to it.

When I have more time I'll try to go back and find all the people that offered up Iron Brigade/Trenched multiplayer services. Anyone can also feel free to send me a friend request if they wish to play some multiplayer in it. I'll have to snag the DLC while it's on sale and check out the other offerings I don't have.

As for next week, Beyond Good and Evil has been one of my favorite games of all time ever since I obtained it for the Gamecube during its initial release. I consider it to be VERY good.
Nice to see lots of sale items this week. But question, I have the first Duels of the Planeswalkers, is 2012 much better or should I not bother?
As others have said, 2012 is a VAST improvement over the original and you can play Two Headed Giant online now. There's also the Archenemy mode you can play local or online also (only the AI can be the Archenemy in the base game, you have to buy the expansion to be able to be the Archenemy yourself.)
Uh, Brütal Legend. ;)
The game could've been great had it not been for the goddamn tower defense portions where they change the controls and come up ever so often where it's hard to refamiliarize. That's all. Otherwise I love metal and enjoyed the characters and writing.
What????? Are you serious bro? That game is great, but lets not make this spam.
I know right? I had a ton of fun with it but then I'm a huge metal fan. Too bad I got the PS3 random file corrupt at 99% or I would have platinumed it. :(

thank you. Paying $5 for brutal legend was the biggest steal i had last year. Better than paying $1.27 for both homefront and brink from GF.

iron brigade or magic 2012?

i already own the first magic so just wondering if there is a big enough difference to make me buy it.

Own Orcs must die gotta say i really did enjoyed it for anyone thinking about it or not on your radar get the trial and check it out.

Ah, Brutal Legend. What a polarizing experience that was. I didn't even really dislike the RTS segments, but for some reason that game never clicked with me. I was SO glad when I finished it.
Does the fun in Orcs must Die last? I enjoyed the demo...
Eh....somewhat. It's ok at 600msp, but I wouldn't pay a penny (or a point) more. It was also a game where, by the time I got to the end, I was very glad to be done with it.
iron brigade or magic 2012?
Kind of like comparing apples and curtain rods, no? Magic 2012 is only gonna appeal to a certain type of gamer, but if you like it I'd say go for it. Iron Brigade is fun and worth 600, and can be made more fun if you play with friends or randoms online rather than solo.

Re: Brutal Legend, I so wanted to love that game... Great writing, hilarious Jack Black performance, the hack-and-slash/exploration aspect was stupid fun, then I hit the first big RTS segment and the fun just ground to a screeching halt.
Oh, I just bought "Watchmen: The End is Nigh" Parts 1 and 2 from Best Buy. Are those games any good?
That would be the kind of question you ask BEFORE making a purchase. To answer your question though: I don't know....I don't buy crappy games. ;)
He can't add it since it doesn't have a release date. There are a ton of XBLA games that will be released sooner or later (Sega vintage packs, a number of Microsoft published games..etc). It makes no sense to list them in the OP until we know when they're coming out.
I mistook the late/missing section for upcoming release.

It's a super repetitive beat em up. I Think I got the collection for about $5 way back when, but both games are relatively the same. It tries to mix it up a bit by having Nite Owl and Rorschach play differently and upgrades, but after a level or two you know exactly what you're in for. So really as long as you go in expecting a beat em up that doesn't do much to change the formula with a throw away story, you'll be alright.

Haha I know, but with the B2G1 from Best Buy it came out to be about $5.74, so no huge loss either way.

That's what the video review I watched made it look like, almost like Arkham Asylum-lite style combat, except that the whole game is combat.

I'm a little weary of taking the review scores to heart, because the games were originally priced at $20 and $15. If they were priced at $2.50 each (about what I paid for them) my feeling is that they would have been averaging at least 6's or 7's.

The demo was too short, but I liked it enough to pick up Trenched/Iron Brigade.

Anybody who's interested in playing coop, feel free to send me a friend request.

I Think around a 6 or even 6.5 should be average score in my book. Like I said nothing really impressive, but nothing really bad either. Rorschach is the one who plays closest to Arkham City Batman since he's heavy on countering. Though when you unlock his throw attack in the first level somehow he has super strength and can toss enemies about 20-40 feet. It makes it pretty damn fun to just grab someone and toss them off over a railing for some asshole vigilante justice.

Some of the achievements end in 6 and 8, so I kinda avoided it. Heard it was more of the same brawler and I skipped it completely.

For less than $6, it could be worth it. If it was me, I'd make sure to get all 200/200 so I don't have a gamerscore that's all funky ending in like a 7 or something

That sounds like it would be worth $6 right there. :) Thanks for the input.

Ya, I noticed that (36 points for beating the game with each character, WTF is up with that?).

I had a funky gamerscore for the longest time, until Sally's Salon (a WP7 game) finally got me back on the 0-5 track. But I've been on track for a while now, maybe it's time to derail myself again.

Really? You guys wont play a game because it has achievements that dont end with a 5 or 0? I've heard some strange things in my life and this one is definitely up there.

I'll play them, but I know there are lots of people who avoid them.

That shit gives me a laugh. That's some big time OCD there!

Also, do you guys think games randomly get delisted with nobody noticing (because they're not good or popular games)? In stalking someone's Xbox profile, I saw a game on the marketplace called "Coffetime Crosswords" and remembered I always wanted to check it out. So I went to check the price (thinking I might buy it if it's $5) but it appears to be delisted.

I don't ever remember hearing about this one getting delisted.

Doesn't MS charge for the data transfer over Live? It's probably really unprofitable for the developers to leave games up for a long time after they stop selling since they'll be paying bandwith costs for demos of old games that never sell.

My achievement score always ends in 1 or 6 and I find it awesome simply for whenever the last three digits end in 666 I always give the horns and feel a weird sense of accomplishment. As in I always want to look over to someone and say "We did it you guys."

I have no idea. Sounds possible.
