Yep. You can buy any single issue of the magazine for $15. $15 is still an excellent deal for the game, so it's probably still worth it.

Almost picked up weapons pack but then read this. Am happy with the 2 Dlc packs and the end of MS' deal dry spell!

Honestly im close to giving up on XBLA... The only KILLER APP I have played this year so far has been Gotham City Imposters, and honestly I havnt booted it up since they dropped DLC for it. The community on their message board also has declined quite a bit.

Whats the best game to come out this year? Or for that matter... the best deal you fellas would say? This scratch and match thing has sucked big time... the mystery wheel is probably gonna suck, but not as bad as the Chain Reaction. These DLC deals are cool and all, but rehashing things like Lara Croft again? Seriously?

I had 30 bucks saved up for games since last month (yes I am indeed a cheapassgamer) and nothing is surprising me or making me say OH HOT DAMN I NEED THIS DEAL!!! Aside from the Scott Pilgrim thing, but hey... i didnt buy it because it was on sale A WEEK BEFORE MAJOR NELSON ANNOUNCED CO OP DLC FOR IT! Talk about dumbass marketing, i bet we were SUPPOSED TO KNOW and Major Nelly just put it up late on accident. It is HIS blog afterall.

Been thinking long and hard about selling my Xbox and just upgrading my computer to play games like Skyrim and GTA4... Im close to cashing out on my system because there honestly hasnt been anything I NEEDED to buy since Halo Reach, which severely let me down as well...

Okay, I will end this lame ass rant with a question...

Between Black Friday 2011 and now... What deals have been outstanding on the marketplace? Also, im am happy to see Ikaruga get a drop, but hey... the game is how old now? I have owned it on two different systems, before the 360 ever dropped...
 
I also wanted to say that I took said 30 dollars to amazon yesterday... i got GTA4:Complete brand new for 18.50 +3.99 shipping

anyone name a better deal than that on the marketplace in recent months?

Exactly, its not a great deal... its a great liquidation... KoA might be good, but its not TES and their studio is currently writhing in pain, and will probably never recover.

Just off the top of my head, both Trials Evo and The Walking Dead are amazing XBLA games. If you've passed on them and are perplexed that yet another XBLA shooter had a short shelf life, I don't know what to tell you.

Trials held my interest for a while, but I didnt like the walking dead games... I hate point and click style games on a console.

no sir. The account i have other there is cougarman21 and its older than dirt. when i was in high school I dressed up like a super hero on big game days and cougarman was born, he also died in 2005. Which is why I dont use the name anymore. Excuse me for not planning out my username on one message board for years in advance.

And to answer the question, Sine Mora is one of the most stylish shmups ever made. It does have a few flaws, but is a pretty solid experience overall.

I would give it an 8/10.

I PM'd him to ask him to change the title of the thread. So far the wiki'fied OP seems to be working pretty well (even though I think it's pretty much just Cornelius updating it at this point). I think the vast majority of us "regulars" on this thread don't use it anyway, so it's really just there for those lurkers and the those who pop in and out just to check out the new deals.

What XBLA shooter besides BF 1943 still has a community and active matches? Wouldn't the vast majority of Darklight and Monday Night Combat players have moved on to the superior PC-only sequels that are F2P?

Plus server issues on day 1 mean RIP for any downloadable shooter that is not BF 1943.

All of your comments are about 38 Studios, not Big Huge Games. Big Huge was making an action RPG for THQ, THQ had money troubles back a few years ago before the current U-Draw related issues surfaced, 38 Studios bought BHG after seeing the engine thinking a SP intro to Amalur would drive interest in the MMO and slapped the Amalur art design/lore onto Big Huge's game.

Schilling is an idiot for trying to make the game equivalent of Avatar as his first game (an analogy used by the bostonmagazine.com writer who just interviewed him) and then hired too many execs/devs/artists that became a money drain in RI. The smartest thing he did was save Big Huge and create Reckoning. In that he has a SMALL chance of seeing the world of Amalur survive as a single-player series IF all the legal issues can be worked out.

That being said of course the DLC for this game goes on sale the week my finances are the worst they've been all year. Hopefully I can scrounge up $10 to get points before Tuesday.

You'd think the beta would have helped them have the servers ready. I wonder if it was something difficult to control, like a hardware failure.

I also wonder if they'd have caught it if they'd sent out review codes earlier. Or maybe this is the real reason that they didn't.

I like Wayforward and beat-em-ups, but Neon just looks... stupid. I'll definitely try the demo though.

My point was that outside of Battlefield 1943, Monday Night Combat was the only other shooter that had a good-sized community that lasted for long enough to be worth the money. Most just die within the first week because they either have no established name or no promotion. I don't know what Darklight is.

Monday Night Combat had a lot of server issues for me throughout the entire time I played it.
 
MNC still has matches to this day, though the numbers have dwindled of course. The game always operated on a player hosted server though, so migrations were a big issue when the game first came out(they almost never worked.) After the Spunky Cola DLC though the migrations are pretty much fine as long as the chosen host doesn't leave before migration.
