XBLA - Geometry Wars 2 - 800pts

Yea I just read this over at Joystiq:
To access it, press the right bumper together with the back button during any of the game's modes. The analog sticks control the movement and direction of the camera, while the left and right triggers enable vertical adjustment. Neat!

4 million at the 2 minute mark is iffy. I don't know if thats even possible. On my run I was at maybe 2 million and 400 geoms. I look for at least 100 geoms at the 30 second mark
 
Sequence is so freakin' hard. I've gotten down to the last row, but haven't beaten it. I think I'll get to it eventually though. You can forget about the smile achievement though... Sheesh, what were they thinking when they made that one?
 
looking for any adds for leaderboards. "brownote" got 360 mil on pacifism. im addicted to this mode, cant stop playing...

Yeah, I agree--Waves is extremely hard. Those orange arrowheads are killer in sequence mode too. Ugh, so annoying. BTW, I got down to the 2nd to the last stage in sequence and got excited and died. Does it count if you die (and have 0 lives) on the last stage? Haha, I'm sure I'll get it soon though.

Between FrankySox raving about it and playing the demo last night, I'm sold. I'm going to unlock the full game here in a minute. I sucked ass at the demo, but it's just so pretty... I don't smoke weed much anymore but I seriously want to play this game while high. It's so trippy.
 
I finally beat Sequence today! I went through the first 2 1/2 rows without dying at all or using a bomb. That helped a lot, heh. After beating it, I played again and got my high score up to 49 million.
 
OMG I'm so ticked! I wasn't online at the time and got 20 mil and my best run in sequence. When I got online I checked out the game and had a high score of 3! fuck

I am pretty sure that this is the first time that has happened, I could be wrong, but that's still impressive for a single-player XBLA shooter. And a good sign for things to come. I heard a lot of developers are weary about working and devoting a lot of time and effort into XBLA games, because of the lack of notoriety, attention, and overall sales power. This could result in deeper, higher quality, and more Arcade games.

I am having trouble with King - does anyone have a good strategy? I can't decide whether to move from bubble to bubble or shoot, collect as many geoms as possible and then move to the next bubble. Any tips? My score is only 1.2M, which sucks.

Really only concentrate on clearing a path to the next circle and getting there.

I have attained a level of unyielding suckiness in this game that most CAGs could never even dream of approaching, not that they would want to, of course. I'm just saying.

in the beginning when its not to crazy i try to shoot everyone then fly around and collect all geoms. when it gets nuts on the screen, clear a path to the closest bubble and get over there.
 
Anyone have any tips for Waves? I keep getting killed by the Blue guys.

Also, any tips for pacifism? I keep getting to around 9 million and I die. I keep running round and am about to escape when new enemies spawn right on top of me and kill me.

At that point in the game, you have to be very careful how you work the corners, because that is the only place they spawn.

For pacifism stay out of the corners unless you are forced there. I just loop in circles in the middle and it seems to work. I'd say about 80% of the time I end up getting killed by the orange end of the bar.
 
for king, early on i try to let them cluster around me so gather around me so i can pick up the geoms quickly. after the snakes spawn, i just try to focus on moving from one circle to the next and clear a path.

in pacifism, the corners and sides mean death!!!!!!!


anyone have any suggestions on sequence?

For Pacifism


  • Stay away from corners, that's where they respawn.
  • Stay around the middle area.
  • Don't take a lot of risk. Try playing it safe.
  • Don't stop, keep moving. The enemies are faster than you think, if you try to stop and wait for them they will get you.
  • Try to pick up the majority of the geoms.
  • Stay Focus
  • DO NOT LOOK AT YOUR SCORE!
 
I finally picked up this and Braid today. I spent a little time wtih Braid first, then switched over to this and I was having a freaking blast. I worked on Wax Off for a while. I finally got it, but I had gotten to 99% a couple of times before I got it. I did some of the other achievements as well. I'm working on Treaty now. Closest so far is 27.
 
I haven't read this whole thread so apologies ahead if this has already been answered... I just stocked up on Live cards today, and I'm going to get GW2 because my friend won't shut up about it. Is there any reason to get first one after getting the second one, or would getting the first one be redundant?
 
Yea I loved getting the Waxed On achievement, that was fun and exciting! I can't even get close for Treaty though. I think it's going to be a while before Smile as well. Maybe it's the Olympic games but I really want to break everyone's high scores now haha.
 
Treaty took me at least an hour to get. I would get 29, then lots of low 20s, then another 27 or 28. At right around 27, the enemies who spawn start to move faster then you can, so its just luck from there.

Tomorrow I'm going to go for the Millionaire and Wax Off achievements. I can only get to 50% on the Wax Off, any tips?

yeah, it would be redundant to buy the first one as 2 has the first one's mode. You do get a bigger sense of accomplishment though with the first one as in its very easy to get a million points in the second one but good luck getting that in the og version.

I've got over 4 million on King (top 3,000 players), so I'm not great, but it is my best one, here is what I do.

Early on (before the snakes) focus on geoms. But, you can't try to grab every one. I'll try to shoot a few enemies in the same general spot, then rush towards them to grab the multipliers, then continue. Try to grab large stacks of them (and if I get one right outside my circle, I'll shoot, grab the multiplier, then rush back into the circle. My goal is to have 250 geoms by the time the snakes first hit.

Once the snakes hit, focus on the snakes. You can usually quickly clear out the others, but the snakes are utlitmately what will kill you. Try to clean them out, and then in the last few seconds, clear a path to the next circle. Early on in the snakes, you can try to grab more multipliers, but once the screen gets frenzied, forget all about them (you'll grab some on the way to the next one, but don't let that influence a decision or a path).

That's pretty much it. Once you get to 2 million, the screen is packed that, if you can survive just a few seconds, your score can start jumping.

That being said, I have a love/hate relationship with King. I'll play for 45 minutes and barely get to 2 million once, and then I'll put it all together for a magical run, and then right back down.
 
I love GW2. My personal favorite XBLA of all time. I played Pacifism over the weekend for like 4 hours. For me, it is the definition of a "just one more" game.
 
yea pacifism has really got me. i havent had a lot of time to put into it, my highscore is 18m.
im pretty sur ei can beat that without too much trouble. absolutely great game.
 
I have come to love this game after just getting it Saturday and find it incredibly addicting. I get on to kill a few minutes and find myself saying "just one more round"! ;)

The game improved dramatically for me when I learned that it was possible to shoot the gun and not just three bombs. I wondered why I kept getting zero points the first several times I tried to play!! Haha! ;)

Definitely enjoying Pacifism more than the other modes. High score is 339,282,375, though I haven't gotten anywhere close to that since.
 
hahah anteis, that score is ridiculous.

i was playing offline a minute ago and got my new highscore of 49mil. i hope it saves that and adds it to my leaderboard when i go back on live.
the thing that makes it so addicting, is you just know you can do so much better.
