XBLA - Pac-Man Championship Edition - 800pts

I think the first place guy is a glitch. There's no one even close to him and once you get past 300,000 the points become harder and harder to reach and he's got double that.
 
It is a glitch. He has admitted it. For some reason it uploaded his score from one of the other modes to the Championship leaderboard.

I think I've maxed out my score at 341,000. I play a few rounds every day and the closest I have come is 322k. It would be nice if you could save your runs to go back and view them, because after about 10 days I have no clue how I got the 341k because I can't get close to it.

I dunno, the faster the game gets the harder it is to control. The game is so addictive. The only thing it is missing is an endless mode.

yeah - endless mode seems like a no-brainer. I still can't see why they left it out unless they plan on charging $5 or something for an expansion pack with new modes. I totally agree about it being hard to control - I'm convinced I could up my score considerably with a joystick.
 
Heh, I use the special Pac-Man theme from R4:Ridge Racer Type 4 when I play. It really is perfect for the game and gets me hyped.
 
Looks like the guy that hit #1 on the Championship Leaderboards got there by a glitch:

GameSetWatch recently was browsing the Pac Man CE leaderboards and notice an unusually high (619,790 points) score in the Championship Mode leaderboard. Cosin45's Extra Mode 3 score was recorded to the Championship Mode leaderboard. What's a fair player like Cosin supposed to do about a glitch like that? Well, Cosin changed his gamertag motto to "UnintendedCEScorByBug". With the blogosphere starting to light up with this news; hopefully, Microsoft and Namco will be alerted to this issue and fix the mishap without clearing the scores. I wouldn't keep your fingers crossed though on that score part.

I liked the demo of this game, yet I hear that every mode of this game is timed. Is that true?

I get the greatest fun out of pacman trying to see how long I can last. If I can't do that with CE, I guess it isn't for me.

i like the change actually. it forces you to not only survive but to make the most of yoru time to get the score. it works well. if you like pacman at all i cant see you not liking this.

I think so. I'm too lazy to check. I read a few message boards though, so maybe I'm confused. :)

I finally beat my high last night after two weeks of frustration.

Went from 341k to 347k. Not a huge jump, but I can see the light. I finally see how people rack up much higher than that. There is a second set of keys for six more power pellets. I only had about 10 seconds after the power pellets appeared though and couldn't take advantage of them.

Puts me in the top 20 for the week.

Yea! I'm getting there. I made it to the second set of keys with a little time to actually use a few of them. You basically have to have a perfect run to get there though. i.e. no dying and no wasting time off the pellet path.
 
Now that this has been out for awhile, I was thinking of getting it since I will still have points to get this and bomberman. So is this game still worth it after you played it alot.

It's pac-man, you can pick up and play it FOREVER.

Almost a perfect run. My wife interrupted and as soon as I unpaused I died. Otherwise I would have had plenty of time for the second set of keys netting me another 15-20k.

It's always right towards the end of completing something and they walk up and start talking about what plants they want to get for the back yard. lol Pretty much.

Any other game I could care less. I'll pause and see what she needs, but damn, a perfect run in Pac-Man:CE won't happen that often. And it's not just that I died, lost my 50pt pellet bonus and a few seconds(I can make all that back with the second set of keys), it's the fact it just throws your whole game off at that point. The ghosts reset and your groove is all shot to hell.
 
Hey, I got some questions about this game. Is there two player offline co-op? And whats the extent of online play? How many people still play online? I tried the demo and really like it.
 
just got this and find it quit fun but very frustrating. So far i have beaten championship, all 3 extra modes and am still working on the challenge modes. Does anyone know how to eat the crown for the achievement

Pick one of the 10 minute modes. You'll get there eventually. You have to go through a LOT of other fruit first.

Guile was taken down. :bouncy: 379,000 baby. This was a few days ago. I just didn't feel the need to bump the thread to boast. :)

It's not like the old pac-man games where you clear a board and start with a fresh one. There is no break in the action to allow a second player to jump in. It's non-stop 5 or 10 minutes of action(or less depending on how much you suck). ;)

Yeah, I saw that last night. I was only able to nudge my score up by 1000 points to 368,xxx. Good job Corvin. :)
