Are you just guessing that those will be on sale?
Yes, sorry, I did not mean to imply that both of these WILL be on sale. My apologies, I will edit the original post.

That being said, if these deals follow in the shadows of last years deals, all 5 of the Summer of Arcade games should be on sale.

I really hope you're right. I have every arcade game I want except Bastion, Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet, and Trenched.
Since the argument has died down a bit, are there anythings you guys/gals want to see added to the thread in 2012? Anything we should nuke or rethink?
3 quick suggestions

1. Noticed a typo in the opening paragraph (Please feel free to PM or post if you doesn't see anything listed here.)

2. Maybe make it more explicit that Deal of the Week are for Gold Members only. (Perhaps under the Xbox Live Deal of the Week section)

3. Maybe move the Misc. Sales section above the Family Gold Pack Deal, cuz I'd say Misc. Sales are generally far more expansive and usually has better content.

I hope I'm right too. I have Bastion and ITSP, but would love to get Toy Soldiers: Cold War, and would probably snag From Dust for 600 or less as well.

Why don't people who are bitching at each other take it to PM's, no one wants to read that crap take it to discussion page.

Bastion came out with a $1 Dlc today, awesome price. Great game like others have said worthy of the full asking price if you just need a new game to play. Because no one here had a digital backlog....

Redjoey, nothing to change I think it looks good
Get rid of the rewards thing, you already made a thread for that. Also the crackdown 2 head and dragon age avatar shirt. I think by now everyone would of gotten it if they wanted it. I want to add something funny, but cant think of anything.

Not trying to be contrary, but I disagree about both of these. Yea, there's a rewards thread, but it doesn't get bumped on a regular basis like this one does. Besides, it's only one small section. It doesn't really get in the way and it's kinda convenient.

The leftover sale stuff, like those and the cat and dog, is still gold exclusive. There are always new people signing on to gold and there are always new people here on CAG that may have missed them.
Looks like that issue still needs a bit more time.
a Redjoey fan appreciation club page, with t-shirts, buttons, flyers, banners, mascot & cheerleaders.

I'll just make a 90's style webpage for it.

1. Thanks, I think I fixed it along with some strange double spaces.

2. I put the GOLD MEMBERS ONLY back with the DotW Sales. Somewhere along the line they disappeared and I didn't notice. I moved it to the top rather than along each item,

3. I'll put that on the to-do list.

Ended up picking up Radiant Silvergun since I wanted to check it out .

Any good recommendations or warnings about Hard Corps?

I did not like Hard Corps.

The load times before each stage are horrible. Then the levels themselves are really boring and overlong. The generic anime art style was also a big turn-off for me.

I recommend getting Super Contra for 400 MS points instead.
Bastion (along with Deus Ex HR) are my personal games of the year...Bastion is unlike anything i've ever played before, one of the few titles that really make me think of games as "art" and i especially loved the music...though my brother thought the narrator guy was kind of annoying.
i agree about bastion. fantastic game all around. the only reason why people like myself dislike limbo is because under the supposedly stellar graphics is a pretty mediocre game, whereas bastion is actually fun and has a wonderful style.

just my 2 cents:

hard corps is fantastic. its difficult, but easily remedied once you buy some ingame upgrades (not DLC)

Guwange is a competent retro shooter with a unique flair and system, although i find the way the actual game screen is presented is annoying (vertical and in the middle of the screen)

Bangai-o hd is fucking pcp with missiles, and i honestly find it difficult to know how exactly i win levels sometimes, as there is just no fucking way that i just dodged 20000 enemy rockets

I noticed this a few months ago but never mentioned it

This includes the Deal of the Week

maybe add in this part that 48 hour codes don't count as a valid gold subscription, or just put it in the title 'cos seeing that shit every new dotw is beyond annoying.

You will die alot and the dubbing is pretty damn awful. Otherwise I had alot of fun with it. For some reason amongst all the Contra games it reminded me more of the first PS2 Contra game. If you're fine with this then you'll enjoy it. Make no mistake that the game throws abunch of bullets at you, but you'll gain XP for upgrades everytime you play so it's not too nerve wrecking.

People mentioned Bastion, I love(d) the game, paid full price for it and would do it again. That being said, does anyone have a bigger backlog in XBL games than they do in actual physical games they have? :whistle2:#

Exactly my thoughts. How they cannot make short load times for arcade game is beyond my imagination. Super Contra is much better and cost cheaper.

@taylort3 - lol, you don't have to dodge the enemy rockets/bullets. Bangai-o is not like all other shmups. Learn the game mechanucs, you can freeze enemies/their rockets and unleash the hell. There is also dash, which makes you invulnerable for few seconds. If you try to dodge bullets here - you play banga-o wrong! :)

I used to but I put down the regular games and started playing through the download games on my PS3 and Xbox. I got through a lot of them then purchased a bunch of cheap stuff from Best Buy so now it's flipped.

Fixed the error. I often edit things several times and miss the simplest mistakes such as that when I am done.

Added a note right above the sales since people don't read the FAQ.

Are the XBLA deals of the week listed anywhere on the new dash? If yes can someone map me how to find them? I use this thread but it would be nice to know how the hell to find them while on my xbox. Thanks.

On the "Games" page there is a "Sales & Specials" box in the top right. Right now I see a picture of HardCorps Uprising and it says "Anime Games." Click on it and you see categories like "Deal of the Week," "recently reduced" and "everyday value."
....does anyone have a bigger backlog in XBL games than they do in actual physical games they have? :whistle2:#
I used to always have 10 arcade games and maybe 10 retail games in my backolg. Since frequenting CAG(especially this thread), I now have 24 retail games and well over 50 arcade games in my backlog. Too many great deals and I just don't have as much time to play anymore.....Plus, Gears of War 3 multiplayer is just plain fun

Being addicted to Netflix means my backlog just grows and grows.... retail is probably closing in on 100 and XBLA is far above that number.

(I know, I have a problem)
Because demos lie sometimes!

I need to check out this limbo demo at least so I can join in the love hate.
This This fucking THIS!

A prime example for me is Geometry Wars 2. Loved the 1st game, loved the demo and potential of the second. Bought the game full price. Hugely disappointed. Of all the weapons, why the only one you can use is the pea shooter? Got my 200gs pts. Deleted it. Went back to the first.

I do by a mile.

I'm in on Radiant Silvergun. It'll take a bit to get used to using certain weapon combinations at certain parts, but I like the challenge.

Initially out on Bangai-O, but I've seen some videos on it, and I think I might take a chance on it. Seems challenging.

Guwange seems cool, but I think I'll pass on it.

Hard Corps is tough, and I like it a bit, but since I have no co-op partner in real life, I don't think I'll be getting it. And it wouldn't be the same to do so over xbox live. Part of the fun is having a friend to play through it with, but I think I'm ok with passing on this.

My retail is probably around 150-200 (all platforms). XBLA is maybe 10-20ish? A lot of people around here think CAG stands for Cheap Ass Gamer, just because that's the name of the website, and it says "Cheap Ass Gamer" everywhere. Not true. It's Compulsive Anonymous Game (hoarders). We're getting our own TLC show.

I see your Contra and raise you Gunstar Heroes.
Gunwage is good, but definitely not an A-tier shooter like Radiant Silvergun.
It's not even close to some of the others Cave shmups like Espgaluda II and Mushihime-sama Futari ver 1.5.

Nothing for me this week, might pick up Rock of Ages on DOTW next week though.

Hopefully there will be some stuff that I wanna buy in the Countdown deals. :)

I am sure my wife would sign me up for that show.

Every time my wife starts to say anything about the collection, I remind her that my CAG habits have found their way into all aspects of our lives, and the fact that my mere presence in a grocery store, mall, movie theater, restuarant, or pretty much anywhere else that accepts money for goods or services saves us a ridiculous amount of $$$... so in fact my hoarder-like backlog is a good thing.

....I have no idea why she buys it either ;)

Thanks for the insight on Hard Corps, people.

I was never really a big fan of contra games too much to begin with so I think I'll skip it.

I'm looking forward to Rock of Ages next week though.

I played the demo of that game and thought it was really fun and unique.

Now that the year is coming close to an end, along with this week's DotW, really emphasizes my failure as a CAG this year. I have purchased more XBLA titles at the full release date price than wait as I normally do. Between Radiant Silvergun, Bangaio HD, Guardian Heroes, Strania, NBA Jam: OFE, Half-Minute Hero, and Nin2 Jump, not only have I exceeded my yearly average of non-deal purchases on XBLA, I blew it out of the water. This sale does put some regret into me since a couple are available for less. Having said that, this week's release of Sonic CD is my most favorite Sonic game, I still own a working WonderMega (JP) and X'eye (US) hooked up to an old CRT TV with Sonic CD for both systems, so I have the tools and means to make the wait for a deal easier. However, the release day price is at 400MSP and it is my most favorite Sonic game, yet I know it is destined to be part of some Sonic or Sega sale down the line. I'm conflicted to add to my failure ... and the cure is for the countdown to New Years sale to rock, I've stocked up on the buy.com MS points and ready.

Also, due to the great sales of late on Xbox Live my avatar is proud to sport the free "Xbox

Man, seeing the slow creep of the ticker was harm enough... why you gotta do that to a brotha...

I do feel like I need to do my part, and a lot more people here could afford to. I bought Tony Hawk Shred the other day, for crying out loud. That money could've served a purpose.
