Son of an Xbox!
Are you serious??? I did the bing search thing for 400 MS points and I got my 400pts code less than a few hours later and I ordered it around 12 am MST
Anyone know why online game codes are unavailable for purchase at Amazon? Just need 200 more for the Minerva's Den DLC....
Pretty sure it's because MS made a deal with GameStop.

Just a quick note, on the main dash page for this sale they don't show Sid Meier's Pirates (in this thread it's here because reddjoey has made a magnificent thread)

After snagging Mafia 2 for $20 via Gamefly today I think I'll go ahead and get the Joe's Adventure DLC, as many people are saying the game's story is short. Gonna pass on Jimmy's Vendetta though since it sounds more like "run around as a dude with a shaved head killing arcade style with no story."

After going back and forth, literally, for a while I decided to just get the Undead Nightmare Pack rather than the collection. They'll likely go on sale again sometime in the future (this is after all the 3rd time they've been on sale) so if I decide I really want them later down the line I have that option.

Also snagged Minerva's Den while I was at it. Really am glad I upgraded to a 250 gb HD with all the sales that I've been taking part in lately.

Picked up Minera's Den (for when I get around to finishing BS2) and Undead Nightmare Collection. I Was going to pass on the bundle, but I'd rather spend 600 pts on DLC I might not bother with than not get it and pay more if I change my mind.

I decided to pass on the Undead Nightmare DLC. I figure that by the time I get around to playing the game, I'll be able to get the disc version on clearance/sale.

I'm tempted by the Lakers jersey and Borderlands avatar props but I feel weird paying for something that's pretty much useless. I'll probably give in, just like I did with the Yoda Lightsaber.

Well I was going to let the Mafia II DLC pass but now I think I will get Joe's Adventure. A review at Worthplaying.com confirmed that this DLC was a legit 8 hour experience if you at least play the game on medium difficulty. For $5 I think an extra 8 hours of game play is nice considering the main game lasts 12-15 hours depending on your achievement hunting.

After purchasing and finishing Minerva's Den last night (it was amazing btw), I'm currently interested in playing more Bioshock and completely tempted to purchase the Protector Trials. Has anyone played/hear good things about it?

LOL. I'm in the exact same position. I finished Minerva earlier tonight and loved it. Now I'm on the fence about the Trials.

Pulling the trigger on Minervas Den I guess. I finished Bioshock 2 back when it came out from renting it but I'd buy it as I wouldn't mind running through it again and playing Minervas Den as well.

Trials gives you a bunch (somewhere around 20 missions I think) of little sister protecting missions. If you didn't enjoy it during the single player don't get it, if you did enjoy it go for it. Its only 200 msp anyways.

I'll probably give in, just like I did with the Yoda Lightsaber.
I'm having the same thoughts about the Celtics jersey. I've never bought any virtual stuff for my avatar because I'd rather spend my points on arcade games or DLC, but after stocking up on points cards during Walmarts sale a couple weeks ago, I feel like splurging. Plus, what's 120 points.... $1.50? And considering I got my points at 25% off, it's really more like $1.13. That's the sound of me talking myself into buying the Celtics jersey.

I'm also a bit torn about Minerva's Den. I know it's supposed to be great, but I haven't even played Bioshock 2 yet, and it's sort of buried behind a few other titles in my backlog. It's no sure thing I'll ever get to it at this point. Buying DLC for a game I don't play would be an even bigger waste of space bucks than a virtual jersey.

I've been waiting and waiting for them to release NHL jerseys. I'd buy one at full price about the only thing on the avatar market I would. Yet they neglect to release anything at all.... lame

I'm downloading Minerva's Den now, but I'm wondering about the others. It seems--based on what the descriptions are--that there's a lot of overlap amongst the DLC outside of Minerva's Den and maybe the Protector Trials.

Is it worth it to get Rapture Metro or Sinclair Solutions?

Protector Trials are short, but fun and easy. You also get achievements, as well as a gene tonic to use in the game (and you can use it in Minerva's Den too). It basically makes the little sister take longer to gather ADAM, but you get more in return. The best thing about the PT's is they force you to use the plasmids I never used in the game. I never realized how useful Decoy was until then.
when does the 2K sale end, at 00:01hrs of 31st jan 2011? or 23:59hrs of 31st jan 2011?
The prices should be good until sometime very early on Tuesday, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

Also, hydro thunder is a great pick up for next week, I got during the holiday sale at 400 points, but even at 800 points it is great arcade racing fun, ESP if you played the old game on the dreamcast like I did.

Who exactly is in charge of the sales in general? Does ms decide what goes on sale or does the developer say hey we want to put this on sale then ms picks out a week.
anyone have any opinions on Aqua?
I recently got a copy for review purposes and for $5 it's fun and certainly has some replay value, to keep the answer simple and short. I'll be posting a full review later today or early tomorrow. And just because I like my fellow CAGs, especially the many who contribute to this thread, I'm going to reveal a secret here a little early; I'll be giving away two copies of Aqua on my site. The contest will end more than early enough to purchase a copy of you want during the sale, I personally hate when sites do otherwise. It isn't live yet but probably will be by the end of the day, I'll be posting in the contest and free stuff forum about it when it is. It is our first give-away and odds are the entry pool won't be huge, so a CAG has a fantastic chance of winning.

Crazy you brought this up, and since someone else brought it up I figured I'd ask. Is this something a lot of people have an interest in knowing? I MIGHT be conducting an interview with a small studio head, and was mulling over possible questions for it and this was something I thought about asking into and if there is an interest in the community it'd be helpful to know.

I hope BudzMcGee gets you some info in his interview.

Dan Amrich talked a bit about sales with Activision’s digital distribution director Jon Estanislao in his podcast. (One of Swords Podcast 053: "Foam Violence" - Interview Starts around 31:13) Jon said it pretty much works like you would think. MS, Steam, GoG could ask, or Activision could approach them to have a sale to go with an IP. They negotiate and approve what sales and what discount.

I bought Sid Meier's Pirates but I'm still debating what I want from Red Dead
I mean I don't play online except with one person so most of it is useless to me and the gambling games don't allow private games, it's all open so who knows what you're going to get?

Then again there's a few single player things to do in each one, not sure if it's worth that though.

I finally have Gta IV complete and purchased the ballad of gay tony, hope it was worth the purchase (as I mainly play online multiplayer). Had to pass on bioshock 2 dlc since the dlc maps as everyone said it's hard to find a match with them and the rest..well I'm not up for a single player experience right now. Aqua tomorrow though I'll be getting as well.

Is RDR online any good? I played a couple free for all matches, and sucked realllllly bad. So I couldn't tell if it was just meh cuz it is meh or because I sucked and was frustrated. I don't really have time to invest online before the RDR sale is over to determine fir myself so I'd figure I'd ask you guys.
Come on Ubisoft and namco let's keep these manufacturer sales going.
I would definitely like to see some more publisher sales, but I have a feeling they are stopping for now. They announced the Rockstar/2K sale roughly 4 days before the EA sale stopped and since they haven't announced another publisher sale I have a feeling that if there is going to be one it will be after a break.

With that said I would personally like to see Microsoft sale. I would really like Microsoft to pave the way for GoD sales. During these publisher sales there could have been quite a few old GoD titles that could have been discounted, but unfortunately weren't (we all know Rockstar Table Tennis isn't selling on it so why not put it on sale).

And I just feel that if Microsoft were to actually put some GoD titles on sale and be successful with it we would see more titles being discounted.
I bought Sid Meier's Pirates.
This comment sold me on Sid Meier's Pirates and I say that in near complete seriousness. Somehow I missed that this game was on sale in the whole Rockstar/2K publisher sale, even though I have been in this thread and to the OP numerous times. Had I not read that post I would not have the game, which may have been a good thing considering my backlog...

I've heard good things about it and definitely hope it is good.

I say it's a lot of fun. Free roam gets a bit boring but one of the DLC packs helps that somewhat. Gang matches are great IMO, especially if you play in hardcore mode. I haven't played in a few months but intend to get back into it once I work through my single player backlog.

I almost grabbed Pirates (loved the game) but then I remember I managed to snag a copy during one of those lets clear out Xbox games at Gamestop. Need to find where I put that

Just a heads up, on the 360 dashboard there's a poll called "members choice deal of the week" under spotlight and u can vote for which item u would like to see discounted.

Castlevania HoD=800 ms points
Pac man championship edition dx=400 ms points
Pinball fx2: marvel pinball add on=400 ms points
Lara croft and the guardian of light=800 ms points

*all prices are after the sale price/discount*

Pinball FX2 Marvel table ftw. Anyway, anyone here played and liked Hydrophobia (post-patch)? Thinking about picking it up later today.
Hydrophobia is a great price @ 400 ms points and I'd recommend it! I voted for pacman ce dx and it's in the lead :)
Would vote for Pinball FX 2 Marvel DLC, but already have it. I too will vote for Pacman CE DX.
Deals are live in Europe . Bought Hydrophobia
Live in the US too. I have Hydrophobia queued up and ready to download the next time I load up my system (bought it through Xbox's website).

I'm not a gold member but I have a 1 month gold card that I received from the Microsoft repair center. Is it worth it to use it to get Hydrophobia for 400 points? I kind of want that game but I wonder if there will be better sales down the road?

If you might also like to play online this month, it will definitely be worth it. Games occasionally go on sale for more than 50% off (Hydrophobia's at 50% now), but not that often.

Got Hydrophobia, I want to play it now but
1. I have to go to work
2. I want to beat my current game 1st, currently playing Prof Layton 1
