XBLA - Shadow Complex - 1200pts

I am worried about the precedent it will set. I am especially worried about games already in development. Microsoft still pressures devs to keep games as small as possible from the get go. You have to have a very good compelling reason to use more space. You have to have the pedigree to get permission to release a game that size, Microsoft has to really trust you and like you.

It's also yet to be seen how much money this makes Chair. They have been developing this since before Undertow was released. That's a long time and a lot of money spent.

so i beat the game yesterday.... couldn't find a keycard to unlock the helmet room so it's shielded....what does the helmet do?? The weapons are meh... I was hoping for harder boss battles.

Aghhh!!! NOLAN NORTH!!! WHY!? Every game I play now indays seems like he is voicing the main character.

I just tried to get all the trophies in Uncharted 1 and then I got PoP and he was voicing the main character! Now I just DLed SC and he is the main character again!? What the heck? I literally had to turn off the sound during his talking parts cause it is just so awkward. They really need to get more voice actors in the gaming industry or just have Nolan do the voice of every single character from this point on.
Oh wow! I am loving the hell out of this game. Quite possibly my favorite xbla game yet!
This, I love the inspired Super Metroid gameplay.:bouncy:

Sooo, does anyone else get a hint of Uncharted here or it just me?!
Why does everyone hate Nolan North so much? I actually like the work he does.
Well...he plays the same role every time it seems and sounds exactly the same. Let's see him be something new for once.

I dropped the 15 bucks after playing the demo and reading a few reviews and it is completely worth it. Great fun, challenging, and engaging. All from a genre that is sadly neglected these days.

Great game, but I'm a bit stuck at 96% completion.
The bridge at the very top of the map with a passkey piece behind a blue barrier, I know how I'm supposed to get it but for some reason the bridge is up. How can I make it go down and stay down? If I jump over the building that it's in and run back, I can see it go up but have no idea how to make it come down and stay down.

Finished all the proving grounds. The last one was both annoying and exhilarating at the same time...
I had 23 health left and still had to get through a devastator, minigunner and soldier near the exit. I just kept firing within the tunnel, hoping to hit something 2-3 screens away. It worked though. ;)

Going to try to finished the game with under 14% items. Was going for completionist for my first playthrough but...
For some reason I went "meh" when the explosion room blew up (I deviated a bit from the blue trail). Bit me in the ass later when I realized I still had some items in that part I still needed, but can't get to now. Shit...

I believe
your next Checkpoint is where you lower that bridge

Oh yeah, I beat the game in just over 90 minutes without sequence breaks
except for the item fetch quest at the end, which included the hook

Shouldn't Ubisoft and Chair have written his roles differently instead of just copying Nathan Drake? I think he was in other stuff before Uncharted, so it might be interesting if someone could check any of them out to see if he has any range or not.

If you run to the left and go through the door there should be a guy facing left in front a switch. You push that switch and it opens a little door. Run right as fast as you can and jump up the bridge. When you jump do not try to go through the little opening, instead you should jump below that and run into the opening while keeping your speed to open the big water tank looking blue barriers. This should get you the last keycard you need.
I still need 4 more key cards to get the helmet. Hope I explained that well enough.

Also I beat this game in 5-6 hours. Very fun game. The 2D plane with 3D shooting is awesome, they get big pluses for innovation. I love metroidvania style games. I enjoyed this game while it lasted. I'll most likely play through this game a few more times. B+ game IMO.

This is coming from someone who thinks SoTN, Aria & Dawn of Sorrows, and Order of Ecclesia are A games. I never got into Super Metroid, but I might decide to play through on my Wii.

I just completed another run. This one, not a world record. Picture is coming soon.

Time: 47:36
Kills: 167
Items: 3% (bitches!)
Total points: 5299120

THE INSURGENT!

Yea, I love his work in Uncharted. That is the problem. HE IS Nathan Drake (well, with that voice and sarcastic tone he is) and putting that characters voice in every other game really makes it weird. It's like having the exact optimus prime voice for like four games main character - it would just be weird. And also, Nolan voices the main character for some of my most favorite titles:

Assassins Creed, Uncharted, Prince of Persia and now Shadow Complex. :bomb:

I beat the game and now im going back trying to get 100%. I'm missing 1 Key, only problem is im at 99% map completion and have no more "?"'s left. The only spaces I havent been to are the very end of the furnace (which i die everytime i try to run through) and the outside parts that are from the final mission.

I found a guide with pictures of all the key locations, so I guess im going to have to go 1 by 1 and re-trace my steps.

Ok, so I am at the very end of the game. Anytime I get near the lake, the end is gonna trigger. Well I am trying to go back and get all of the items I missed. But there is one grenade pack I have no clue how I am gonna get it.

http://guides.ign.com/guides/839087/page_72.html

It is number 6 on that list. Is there anyway I can get that with the end triggering? Or I am gonna have to start a new campaign to get that one and the 100% completion cheese?

It's still there during the boss fight. I saw it during my 13% run.

Are the leaderboards really slow to update for anyone else? Scores on there has been the same for the past day or so and I'd like to see if TheRock88's gotten to 50 million points by now. ;)

I know there's a freezing issue where trying to look at anything on My Score or Overall causes the game to lock up, but I didn't think that issue would cause it to not update at all.

I finally finished all the challenge levels today. Some of them (Jump Master, especially) were quite frustrating and took me many attempts.

The last key piece is in the room where you pick up the Scuba mask. There's a shelf on the right side of the room you can jump over and then swim around underneath to find it.

As generic as the plot was and as poor as I found the ending, I could see it setting up a sequel and I'd be happy to play it.

My biggest complaint is that the boss fights were extremely easy, especially the final boss fight, which I ended with max health. I imagine a minimalist run would make that a bit harder.

So I got to the part where you kill guys with a turret, went to the save room and quit yesterday.

Now it seems enemies respawn, so how the hell am I supposed to advance past that room?

Pretty stupid design.

Awesome. I just got that and my 100% cheese. Now I am on to my 13% run. I love this game.

Yeah, the final boss battle is super easy. Especially with the Fusion Helmet.

Switch to casual, Rocko. Then you can get through that a bit more easily without losing that much health and can change it back once you get past that.

Beat it the day after it came out. I got so addicted I couldn't stop playing. Took me about 10 hours with 100% of the items.

I just finished a 38 minute run for 11th on the Leaderboards. To be fair, I did the majority of it (3/4) on Insane, and I got 2 Health packs, an Armor Upgrade, a Foam upgrade (I don't know why, either), and a Grenade pack. I also died 4 times on Insane, which put me back about 10 minutes.

Just beat it, this is easily the best downloadable game ever!

Stats

Time 9hr3min7sec
Kills 1216
Items 70%

Total Points 4494024

I will play it again after I complete Batman!

Leaderboards are fixed.

Edit: Nevermind. They seem to update fine, minus total score, in the pause menu while playing, but the leaderboards in the main menu are still out of date.

I wasn't following the order it was recommending because I was exploring mostly. I ended up blowing up the top left part of the map (yellow) BEFORE I had the triple jump and hook. Now I can never get 100%...??? I can't seem to get the gun that is flashing on the map. Is there a back entrance?

I did the same thing. From what I read that gun is the only thing that can't be gotten later on.

Something odd is up with the Leaderboards now. Whenever you press view Gamercard of someone, you'll always look at the Gamercard above the one you chose.

EDIT: Alright, 200g
The only I boss I have trouble with is the
one where it says to get close to it. It also poops foam.
According to the ign guide, don't bother getting close. Missile/grenade it from behind the crate. It's easy then.

For those that got the "Minimalist" achievement about how many items are you allowed to pick up? I started a new game+ and picked up 2 health upgrades and already at 5%. Was that too much?

You should still be able to make it if you avoid collecting the last few suit upgrades at the end of the game.

anyone know how the multipliers for your score (after beating campaign) are calculated? I got a bit over 8 million. 100% map/items over a bit over 7 hours. it could have been under 5 if I hadn't messed up my first save

Well even though I played most of the campaign on casual with the glitched trial version, I bought the game today. I thought about just not updating my demo and setting aside a good couple of hours next time I want to play it, but it's really worth a purchase.

Ugh....

That frustrates me to no end...

I am 100% of the map and 99% of the items and I cannot get the completionist achievement....

If I replay I would want to get the minimalist...

So annoying.

I think I am getting close to beating the game but I don't want to yet if I can't continue afterwards. I've heard that the end game completely sneaks up on you without a lot of warning. Is there any way w/o spoilers someone could give me an idea of when it occurs? I am at 90% capacity right now with my suit, the only piece of armor I don't have is the one that takes all 12 pass keys to open, I think I have 2 so I'm not even close. But I have most of the map opened up and am almost fully upgraded.
