DC Soulcalibur swings onto XBLA

New features for the XBLA edition of Soulcalibur will include the expected high-definition graphics and assortment of character- and mode-specific leaderboards. Unfortunately, cross-continental swordfights appear to be limited to the upcoming online-enabled Soulcalibur IV (set for a July 29 release on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3), as Namco Bandai promised only that players could "challenge a friend in local-play Versus mode." Other modes include fighting genre staples like Arcade, Training, and Survival.

Amazing!
Sucks about no online though...
Maybe they'll surprise us?
It better not be any more than 800 points...
But I'll still get it.

It's already better than SCIV.

Better have all the extras the DC version had - art galleries and the like. The artwork was beautiful and the music was exquisite.
You Win!

But how the heck will they fit it within the 150MB limit?
They probably won't

Microsoft has started lightening up the rule more and more for games like Bionic Commando and Street Fighter HD so they will probably allow it for this too

very very nice. not only do i love the first soul calibur, i hope this opens the door to more DC games getting a 2nd round a love.

The best SC in the series. I bought a DC day one and this game just to play it 18 hours straight.

Throw in online play and I'm sold. No online, probably no buy for me. Unless it looks pimp in 720p. . .

well as long as they can do online*points to mr driller*

They know if they put online in this that it'd get more players than SC IV... I'll probably get it just because I've played the crap out of it on DC.

With all the games that are comeing out sucks you cant just burn then to a disc. That way you dont have them all on the HDD. 20 gigs does not seem like it will last long.

Wow, so the rumored Dreamcast games on X360 comes true! Bring on Jet Set Radio...Chu Chu Rocket...Power Stone...Power Stone 2...Marvel vs. Capcom
It shouldn't be anymore than 700 MB.
I love how you base this on absolutely nothing except that Dreamcast games are ripped to fit on a CD, regardless of the fact that most of the good Soul Calibur rips were mononized, let alone the fact that the XBLA version would be completely redone, compression wise. (Look at SOTN)

It will probably be completely redone which will make it far less than 700MB which is "no more than 700MB".

Personally I really don't see the point of this, Soul Calibur II is already backwards compatible and I'll just continue to play that until SC4 gets cheap.

i still have my DC hooked up with SC in it. I would be all over this if i didnt have a hard copy already.

powerstone would make me shit in my pants with online play.

Only Soul Calibur that I actually sat down and beat numerous times, all other Soul Calibur games pale in comparison to the original, since where on the topic of DC games, I would love to see Skies of Arcadia & Record of Loddess War

I don't really need it since my DC still works fine, but I may pick this up for convienence sake...and to try to convince them to push out more Dreamcast stuff in the future.

Kind of wish they did an updated SoulEdge/SoulBlade first for my own nostalgia reasons (and it still has the best music of the series), but I understand why that didn't happen.

Hope they include that thing that lets you edit the game's intro.

I'll at least be buying this for the nerd points. My estimate is this game will be in the 200-250mb range.

as cool as this is i still have a dreamcast that works just fine and i have this game also. which will mean i probally wont buy this and know microsoft i wouldnt be suprised to see a 1,200 point price on this.now if you exccuse me i think i will go play Soul Calibur.

This is already better then SC4.

fuck Online Play for the most part people are assholes, and I hate lag in every fighter that is not VF5.
its sweet but if it gets released long after SC4 whats the point
It will be better then SC4.
It will be better then SC4.
lol I doubt that, plus I still have SC 1,2 and 3 so no need for it on XBLA

fatalities fit with a group of characters that slice each other open with 7 foot long swords and never kill each other its about time "someone" died. While I love SC1 I"m going to withhold judgement on SC4 till I play it. As it stands right now SC1 and SC2 were about equally good save the adventure mode SC1's was far better IMO.

Well, fuck SC IV then. Even though I have and still play Soul Calibur on my DC, this is a definite purchase for me. None of the sequels have come close to it, imo, and IV... well let's just say I'm not looking forward to it.

I would think it would be about a gig seeing how they were 1 gig discs that they were put on. However it was one of the earlyer games for the dc so I guess they didn't fill up the disc all the way.

They just released some screenshots of it.
