XBLA - Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 - 400pts

I really suck but Smoke is really easy to start with considering the fact that I've never played the game before. I've got his 6 hit combo dwn but the 9 hit one is WAY out of my reach. I've still only got 13 wins online :(

man the leaderboards on this game are seriously F'ed up

People that are 0-2 are ahead of me, and I'm like 135 and 23 or somethin like that....

This game is now #1 on my playlist. So damn addictive, you win, and you wanna keep playing until you cool down, but then you wanna end your play session with a win, and then you get your confidence back, and wanna keep going.

MORTAL KOMBAT!
No, it works, but you have to knock him down first... then you'll hit him once he'll duck and the process repeats until he is KO'ed
It's still not working for me. He's still beating the shit outta me. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

What i did was just pick smoke and keep jumping back, eventually he'll run into you, just give him a jump kick then teleport punch>>spear>combo. Worked just fine for me, cheap AI deserves cheap tactics.

I welcome Smoke players now. I am so familiar with all his moves, nothing anyone does with him surprises me. It's when I play someone like Stryker, Nightwolf, or Sindell, those characters I struggle against, because I don't know their special move animations or combos.

And like someone else said, I have also yet to see a single player use Shang Tsung.

I've ran into a few Shang Tsungs... I'm waiting for Mileena players...

I soon will pick up stryker since he's a character that has moves that can easily be abused for safety... plus, nobody beats a man with burritos stuffed in his shirt.

its a bulletproof vest underneat his shirt Rolento.

I need to start practicing with another player now. Probably reptile.

I'll take a video of it later and show you, if you haven't beaten him with another technique already

That'd be awesome of you. Thanks.

Oh really? It's NOT burritos?

Well, I could not have shot a better video on my cell phone, you could actually see Noob, but youtube doesn't take my cell phone camera's video type...

All I can say w/o the video is, that you have to get in a situation where he's just standing up, then if you continually hit A, he should just get up, get hit by one of your punches, duck, and then that repeats...

But I do see what you're saying, once you do it though it will feel really easy, but I wasn't really paying attention trying to film it on my phone, and the tap A strategy didn't work, although it did the next 2 times

I just played a guy using Smoke, who did nothing but bitch about how lucky and cheap I was, since I blocked most of his teleport punch-spear combos. I then played him again in the next match, he used Kabal, did nothing but the cocoon wrap run thingy, whihc I blocked, and of course, he whined some more about how I did way too much blocking.

160-83 right now.

I'm getting really annoyed with people who don't really fight. They spend the match just waiting for YOU to attack. They stand in the corner and block. And kneel & block. That's SO boring!!

Hehe. Yeah maybe you have played me.

Really, when I play against smoke or scorpion, I feel like I don't have much other choice. They basically just spam teleport and spear as soon as I look like I'm going to move in any direction. My only hope is to jump kick them the whole match and/or block in the corner.

HEY WHAT THE HELL!!?!

So yesterday I felt like unlocking the characters for sakes of being Mileena (and letting other people use Sub and Ermac if they felt like it)

Played for a while. Went out to go to do some errands. The game froze eventually (LOL @ Xbox 360) and so I went back and had to do the codes again. Siigh.

Well I played last nite (after I put the codes in for the 2nd time) and I called it a night. Keep in mind: LAST NIGHT. I shut everything off, went to bed.

Wanted to do a few matches this morning, and went to go unlock Mileena (she's becoming a new favorite for me) and I noticed that they were ALL there!!!

This is from like 7-8 hours ago!!!
I don't expect this to last, because this is too good to be true. But, has anyone had it where they unlocked the characters--had their Xbox SHUT OFF for hours and turn it back on and they were STILL There?! (Kinda like how secret characters SHOULD be when you unlock them.. )

i think you exit the game "correctly" as in quit > return to arcade then turn off the 360 once your in the dash they should stay there. Mine got erased since the game froze and I had to restart the 360.

This is by far the best Xbox Live Arcade game. It makes Street Fighter 2 look like pure crap. I have had virtually no problems connecting to games, since I just create them myself. People are super quick to jump into games as well. God this game frickin' rocks, I'm falling in love with Mortal Kombat all over again.

*In his best Billy Madison voice*

Uh oh, somebody learned to slide. :)

I'm having a lot of fun too. Although like every new release game, I am afraid the player base will taper off in a month, by quite a bit. You already can't easily find a Lumines game to play online.

When other players become hard to find, this game will lose most of its value.

Well, I finally did it. Thanks for all the help.

Yup, no problem, I just wish I could've gotten that Noob vid up

how to infuriate a cheap Smoke player:

--hold block and duck

--make sure to hold back while ducking and blocking (prevents them from throwing you)

--wait for them to use the spear or teleport punch

--???

--counter and repeat till you win

--Enjoy flood of "u pussy" messages after beating down tons of noobs

For extra enjoyment:

--let them win the 2nd round

--grant Mercy in the 3rd round (get across the screen, hold run and press down 3x, release run)

--win again with ducking low kicks

the perfect formula for wonderful times of being bitched at. Someone needs to put this in a cookbook.

It doesn't really damage them, but if you do an ice clone, it's kind of funny to see them frozen in the ground trying to teleport

The cheap Scorpion/Human Smokes are the ones I've been having a problem with. I can't get my ice clone to come out when I need it to (due to the terrible d-pad).

Damn bastards spamming teleport punch.

Remembering really early today, I was playing another Sub-Zero and if either one of us got hit we were gone, it was already 1 to 1 in rounds and he froze me, but before he did I made a clone somehow, and you couldn't really tell which was me and which was the clone. (I was jumping) He jumped over one of them and goes, haha game over punk, hits my clone, and then I finish him off. He left before I could say anything...
Wow, only took 2 weeks for this game to completely fall off the radar. Not me baby, almost to 300 wins!
It hasn't fallen off for me, but I haven't played any 360 as of late, because I know that pretty soon all of my 360 time will be going to GoW and any other games I get this month... If this game had come out just a little bit either early or January 1, it would have a lot more fans, but not to say it's fallen off yet

I still play it alot even though I suck. I'll be happy when the players thin out and there's alot less smoke people... I really enjoy fights with characters nobody plays.

I have been using Sindel a lot since she can defend herself fairly well aganist those smoke players (really only started to play online today since I wanted to get fairly good before playing online, but my friend uses the ninjas). Most people don't keep going for that teleport uppercut when they get hit with her yell and then a 6 hit combo that knocks off 40 percent of thier life.

This is so good online.. the rankings don't make much sense though.. I've gotten the 10 wins achievement a long time ago, and my win loss still says 1-18 or something.. what's the deal? I'm Son of a Beep and I love randper combat.. all ? symbols at the vs screen for the best matches.. no cheapness, just absurd fights.

You have to go to 'Xbox Live Ranked Versus.'

Unless you know moves for every character, Randper combat is nothing but cheapness. It's all jump kicks and uppercuts.

i like randper because it always makes for fun fights, less chance of exploiting shit
whats randper?
When both players put question marks in the Kode screen. (??????)

It unlocks Randper mode just for that fight. Basically, both players change into a random character every 5-7 seconds.
Random Select is the only way to play
True. The only opponent that really ever earns my respect is the random chooser opponent.

Sorry I could not keep playing. Once my connection kicked me that last time I figured it was time to head to bed since I got some schoolwork to do (3 papers due the same week as Gears of War means that unless I get cracking I won't get a chance to get too far in the game).

Hopefully next time my connection is not so bad (it worked great all day until tonight).

to do randper combat where characters change every few seconds in the match, in the VS screen where the two characters are shown, and there are symbols on the bottom of the screen, both players should press Block, Low Punch, and Low Kick until the symbols are all ??????

to random select at the character screen, just push UP and A when your cursor is on kitana (Player1) or scorpion (player 2)

I am so damn sick of smoke players. One jump, and you're hit with that damn teleport punch, then i can set down the controller for 5 seconds while he effortlessly takes away 1/3 of my life. So dumb.

even though I'm totally against it and love bulldogging, turtle like crazy. when they teleport then it equals a free uppercut hit.
