Alot of threads have been popping up asking questions about the 360 hardware or accessories in general. For example, threads asking about the Xbox 360 themes or where the battery gauge is for the play and charge kit. Ask any such questions here.

I have one. I was playing Halo 2 with someone who was using his 360 to play, and I could barely hear him. Is it hard to hear people with the 360 Headset? I haven't heard any bad feedback on it, but I could barely hear him, so I figured I'd ask.

All future threads asking general questions like these will be merged with this thread.

Can I connect the 360 with a XBOX for a system linked Backwards Compatible game?

What cable would I need for that?

Im buying the premium pack that includes HD cables, will I need to buy standard cables for it to work on my 1987 24" Toshiba Blackline?

Can I use an original XBOX wireless controller, on the XBOX360?

Can I use my old headset, on the 360?

The HD cables also include stadard AV cables on one cord.

No.

Yes, but you won't be able to use the volume and mute button that comes with the 360 headset. The old puck doesn't fit on the 360 controller.

Yes. Right click, click copy, then paste it to your hard drive.

Unless you're on a mac, th..

ohhhhhhhh, this is the 360 forum.

You can with audio CD's, but I don't think you can with MP3 data CDs. You can also use CD-RW's so you can have one CD-RW that you use and clean out for XBox use only. And the 360 rips from RW's a lot faster than the XBox.
Quick HELP!
Can I copy MP3's from a cd-r to my hard-drive?
Yes, if it's burned as a CD, not as a MP3 CD.

Anyone have really bad echoes using the headset? Scorch and I were playing and for a while there was a really bad echo and I would be able to hear myself talkabout 3-4 seconds though my headphones.

I get the echoes every now and then, just pull the adapter out and wait a few then put it back in.

Quick HELP!
Can I copy MP3's from a cd-r to my hard-drive?

Zew answered it here and I answered it in the thread you made.

Thank you Zewone for the help

I have yet another question about the 360:

Can I use m own pictures as my Profile Avatar on LIVE?

Thanks again for the help, and any assistance regarding the remaining questions would be greatly appreciated

..so if I'm playing like Kameo and my friend logs on sees I'm on, he can do a "Start chat with this person" (or whatever) and I accept, I can talk to him while I'm still playing the game?

Yes.

Anyone have problems with the play and charge light. I bought 2 for my 2 controllers and when I plug them in I can play and the controllers work but the red light that indicates its charging doesnt come on. Anyone having this issue too?
Mine Play and Charge works fine. I just left my Xbox on and plugged it in while it charged.
Does your red light turn on though?
is there a way to turn on the console using the controller?
I thought, holding the "silver/guide/360/big X" button turned it on.
Can you still change your Xbox Live gamertag like they said you could before?
yes but it will cost 800 marketplace points

Some remaining questions:

Is there a difference in connection speeds between the 360, and XBOX on games like Halo, or is that network related?

If somebody is in the Dashboard chat on a XBOX, and Im talking using the 360 Chat function; can I talk to that person in the dashboard, whilst playing Call Of Duty Single Player?

Can I share my media files with other 360 users?

Does the Internal clock reset if I disconnect the 360, like the original XBOX did?

Can I download Music off of my iRiver IFP-880, to use as a custom soundtrack?

The 360 can use any kind of Category 5 cable, patch or crossover, to link 2 systems. It will autodetect which type of cable you have and adjust accordingly.

Can you plug a controller into the USB port on the back where it says "I/O"?...I think this is supposed to be for the wireless internet adapter...I'd like to see if I could get 3 wired controllers and a wireless going for 4 player games

I remember hearing some talk about the controller's face buttons not being pressure sensative, which would affect backwards compatibility of some games. How'd it turn out?

I was wondering if anyone purchased the Xbox Live Gold membership with the $20 Mail in Rebate for games. My question is if you have to cut the UPC off the video game to send for that rebate? I would like to purchase this because it comes with a headset, marketplace points , and the $20 mail in rebate, but I am afraid it will ask for proof of purchase by cutting off the UPC from the game. I hope we can only send in the receipt showing the purchase of the game and the xbox live gold card. Let me know.

I had issues with a wireless controller. The first one I bought wouldn't connect to the system. The next one wouldn't accept the rechargable battery pack (but worked fine with the AA's.) Third time is the charm, as now it's working properly.

Try your battery pack in another controller to confirm it's the pack and not the con.
My faulty controller worked fine when plugged in (with the recharge pack). The red light would stay on briefly, then vanish. As soon as the cord came out, off it went.

I had this exact same problem. I thought it might be the controller or the battery, but it turned out that the battery pack wasn't sitting flush against the controller. Try wiggling the battery pack.

Interesting question, one I would like answered myself. Reason being that I am giving my friend my old XBOX when I get my new one. If only to get him off my back about playing Halo all of the damn time

I have a question. I finally got a 360 today, and at first, I had some problems transferring my account over to the 360 itself. I called up MS, and they told me to reformat the HDD. I did, and it erased everything. Can I get those Halo 2 icons/themes back? Are they downloadable?

Has anyone had any luck streaming music to their 360 from their PC with a setup like mine? :

Computer and 360 all connected to the internet via a wired router
Computer runs Norton Internet Security 2005
360 able to connect and play on Xbox Live fine

I'm pulling out my hair trying to get my PC recognized by the 360. It keeps giving me a "PC not found" error with these useless error codes:

W0000-000B
X0000-F001
Y0000-0000
Z8016-05B4

According to the MS website, those codes are useless, and the help pages there aren't much help at all. I opened up the ports they suggested to open up in your firewall (opened them up on my router), and nothing.

Can anyone help me?
Do you have Windows Media Connect installed?
Yes. WMC is installed, and I am running Windows XP with the latest updates, including SP2.

Has anyone used or know of a place I could get information on using a network drive for the 360? I'm looking at adding 250GB or more to my Mac and gaming setup but am unsure of the best way to get an external storage device both machines can use and access.

I know I'm probably going to have to partition the drive for the various network end uses but honestly I have no idea how to set something like this up in a mixed OS environment. I'm not looking to use PVR aspects or anything else as emulating MCE with Virtual PC would suck ass. I just want a big empty space that both machines could access.

Linksys has a USB 2.0 adapter that would allow you to use a 2.0 drive as a network drive. The nice thing is it can handle 2 USB drives and conceiveably you could do 640GB or more with it.

Any network specialists have a recommendation before I start spending a few hundred bucks with mixed or no results?

I think you might be good to go. Both the X360 and the Mac can read FAT32 usb drives so you should be able to format the drive as FAT32 and be up and running. Here's a link with a little info that should aplly, but not specifically regarding the X360.

http://www.macosx.com/content/faq.php/q5668/Fat32,-Or-Ntfs.html

I'm not entirely sure if the Mac has limitations on the size of FAT32 drive it can format or not (and for that matter, I don't remember if the X360 has any FAT32 limitations, although I don't think it does). You could always make separate partitions though with different formats if there is some limitation you can't get around.

The next step I took was to completely disable my firewall and then it worked. I later went back and added my 360's IP address as a trusted site in my firewall program (ZoneAlarm).

Even when I disabled Norton, it didn't work. I definitely don't want to disable my router's firewall; all hell would break loose.

Hmm... what can I do?

The 360's IP address? Hmm...

You did select at least one folder to share in Windows Media Connect, right? (I'm not trying to be an ass, I just wanted to rule out that possibility since it hasn't been asked yet).

There was already a listing of folders like "My Music," "My Pictures," and such.

Maybe I'll try making a folder on my computer and putting some songs in there to see what happens.

Picking a new folder with songs in it and trying to connect again didn't work.

360 still says, "Cannot find your PC running Windows Media Connect."

I hope I can find a way to get it working.

Another perhaps stupid question: You did restart your computer after installing WMC, right?

You might want to check to make sure the Windows Firewall isn't on as well. Although, I would think that it would automatically open up the ports for WMC, but you never know.
