Microsoft this morning confirmed part of the bundle rumor that's been ravaging the Internet for weeks: All Xbox 360s and Xbox 360 Elites will now come with free copies of Forza Motorsport 2 and Marvel Ultimate Alliance, a $90 value.

Nice to hear the double-game bundles are finally back. Hopefully they keep bundling such great games, too (as opposed to the Tetris Worlds crap they started resorting to on the OG Xbox)

Hot on the heels of a price reduction for all Xbox 360 consoles, Microsoft is now giving holiday buyers even more value by including two great games with every Xbox 360 console and Xbox 360 Elite, a retail savings of $90 for consumers. The acclaimed "Forza Motorsport 2" (Microsoft Game Studios) and "Marvel Ultimate Alliance" (Activision) will both be included for the recently reduced prices of $349.99 (U.S.) for Xbox 360 and $449.99 (U.S.) for Xbox 360 Elite. Both bundles will be available retail-wide by the end of October.

I finally cracked open my 360 tonight. Very cool. I'm really glad I got one. Boy that hard drive is louder than the original Xbox brick - and warm, too. Who built this thing - a bunch of monkeys? I think I have a Falcon, but I'm not 100% sure. Manufactured day is 10-8-07 and have a BenQ drive.

Did you check the capacitors to see if it's a Falcon?

You shouldn't be able to hear the hard drive at all really. It's a lot quieter than the fans, which are a lot quieter than the optical drive :whistle2:(

Yes. I think I see only two inductors like they state in the article here. I think it's the fans that are making the noise. I've never had an Xbox 360 before, so that could be what I'm hearing. Plus, I was playing it late at night at 3am in the morning and at that time of night everything seems loud. It was louder only when I had a game in the disc drive. Without a game in the disc drive it seemed fairly quiet.

spideymike I found the easiest way to see the inductors was to have it sitting flat (like the orignal xbox). Use the flash light on the side and then look throught the vents on the top. It was easy for me to clearly see only to laying flat. Also I've read if you have a 175W printed on the power brick.

Yeah, the optical drive is what makes most of the noise. The fans shouldn't matter, since you can't hear them over the drive. You shouldn't be able to hear the hard drive over the rest of the system, unless it's dying or something.
Sometimes a red light can be just that something is loose somewhere, like a plug.
I hope that was that case. I have a 1 year warranty with gamestop, so I can exchange it between the time I purchased it and when it ends.

Thanks. I'll doublecheck that later on at night. I really don't want to have it out while my toddler son is on the warpath. I do have a 175w power brick as well.

I just bought a 360 elite for christmas and best buy online did not send the forza 2 and marvel ultimate alliance game and I already called tech support and I still did not get it yet.

That stinks. When you ordered the Elite, did it state that it would be included with your online order?

Yeah because on best buy online all the 360 on it are the forza 2 and marvel ultimate alliance bundle.

My amazon xbox 360 premium (175w falcon) had its dvd drive (hitatchi) die already. Have to ship it to back to amazon who has no replacements in stock so they're refunding me + some store credit. sucks though since I've played it for maybe 12 hours total.

I tired to get an Elite today but had no luck. Checked Best Buy, Target, TRU, and another store.

Is there any site that says the availability of systems? I know Wii had a couple sites, including one that showed inventory at Target.

Circuit City shows their inventory in stores, but that may not necessarily be foolproof, so you should prolly call.

Dang - that's horrid! Thank God for the MS warranty, but only 12 hours logged is inexcusable.

There is a chance 50/50 that when you order your elite you may not get the 2 bundles my friend orderd on and got it on christmas and got the 2 bundle games and i did the same thing :(

Because support said it was due to the manufacturers microsoft.

Bummer, have all these BestBuy giftcards but they no longer have the Pro Bundles. Guess i'll hold out for the rumored hd-dvd drive 360

do the new 360 pro have hdmi? because I went to best buy and they didnt have the 360 pro bundled with forza and ulimate alliance, they just had the 360 pro. I didnt see anywhere on the box that said hdmi. Thats why I didnt buy it.

It should say on the label that it has HDMI. It's just in small type somewhere, not plastered big, but it should say it.

I'd say it would be virtually impossible to get one without HDMI, as they've ALL had it since this summer, except Best Buy has this magic stock of ancient Summer 2006 360's they keep trying to pawn off.

So far I'm actually more concerned about noises my Wii's drive has made than my 360's...knock on wood.

It should say it on the box itself, in the feature list (I think it's on the side panel).

And I concur, I saw 2006 units at Best Buy after Black Friday - they clearly do not have HDMI. So it's very possible.

why did the title change to supplies running out? they're not going to package the marvel/forza2 together no more soon?

I went to 9 places yesterday to get a pro 360 and they didnt have any bundle or otherwise just tons of arcade units and a few elites here and there in the kansas city area.

Seriously, though, what is the deal with dropping the included games? I just traveled all over in Austin and the only place that had any Pro/Premium bundles in stock was Fry's (which were manufactured 11/28/07 and didn't include Marvel/Forza). What a mistake to wait a week after Xmas to buy the machine! I'm really bummed.

I'm really disappointed that MS wouldn't continue to include games in the bundles. One of the incentives for me to get an original Xbox was that it included Clone Wars as a bonus. I liked that they offered free games this time around, too and it's silly to drop the extra games. Makes me think having them sell bundled games with consoles was purely a stunt to get rid of a lot of older consoles with outdated wattage and older processors and not just a Holiday push.

I just picked up a Pro bundle tonight at GameRush, and it's a Falcon - 175w on both the box and the power brick. When I bought it, the clerk insisted that the box didn't have the games inside (despite the stickers on the box), and gave me a Forza/MUA pack he pulled out of a drawer. I got home, and of course the games were in there. I guess I'll be trading the extra set of games back to GR. :D

I wish I got a system earlier. The free games are a nice incentive (will buy it still). Hopefully I can find a system before the games are all gone. I'll try to get the clerk to say the games are in it and if they are not give the store trouble.

Hrm short on supply? Everytime I go into Best Buy they have towers of 360s (and ps3s of course) and all the 360s have the marvel/forze sticker.

Everytime I go to BestBuy they have a pile, and all the 360s dont have marvel and forza. YMMV

I wonder how many bundles they made

havn't seen elites and premium bundle for a while.

I just don't get it, why don't people just get the arcade? it's great value when the 20 gb is on clearance every where.

and forza2/marvel alliance is dirt cheap at eb now

I mentioned this here somewhere before, but I was able to sell my unopened Forza/Marvel for $40. So if you find one of those, and you don't want the games, you should be able to sell it to cover sales tax.

Although the free games are nice, I think the bigger issue would be to get a 175w Falcon unit. I'd take a Falcon with no games than a possible red-ringer with 2 games.

So how do I find out if I have a BenQ? I know I have a Falcon and the 360 was manufactured in mid November.

And for those of you looking for instore bundles check Target.com, you can check the inventory there and is how I got my 360. It said in stock, sure enough I dropped in and they had a Pro bundle with the free games sitting right there for the taking (I obviously took it).

All 360s are possible red ringers, the Falcon only reduces that chance dramatically, but RROD Falcons do exist.

Not that it helps. but the bundle still seems to be available at Walmart.com. Whether that's what'll actually show up, I have no idea, but it's clearly labeled as such.

Now... I guess my question is... why are people so amazed or upset that they can't find the bundles anymore? Every site I went to, and even Wal-Mart still has it listed as such, listed it as the Holiday Bundle. If anything, I'd say that MS timed it amazingly well, considering that now, after the holidays, you can't really find them.

Not really complaining, I just find it amusing, since I had assumed from the outset that they'd be gone after Christmas.

Yep.

"as a holiday special, every Xbox 360 will come with two free games"
costco always have the bundles
The Costco closest to me ran out of this bundle a week before Christmas. They started offering a bundle with the same accessories and only CoD4 for $40 more than the holiday bundle. Considering I could have bought CoD4 for $37 during that time it didn't seem like a very good deal to me...

My Falcon (w/ BenQ) Elite came with the games.
So how do I find out if I have a BenQ? I know I have a Falcon and the 360 was manufactured in mid November.
When you pop open the disc tray, the BenQ drive will look like a pure U and not have any other distinguishing marks on it. Check out the picture comparisons here.

Noone around here in CFL has any pack ins any more either that i have seen except for maybe GS/EB that keeps em in the back. Im sure glad i got my Falcon Elite when i did. I was at best buy the weekend before Christmas and they had about 10 Elites on the floor that they just got in which was the first time i had seen them since a bit before black friday. I didnt get the BenQ but i can live with the Hitachi since its so damn quiet now compared to my April 06 premium, and i didnt care about the free games as i already own Forza and would rather have the MUA Gold Edition but free is free and it was still a nice bonus.

do all of the xbox 360 pro bundles with forza and marvel have falcon chips 175w? because i cant find them at stores and I might have to buy it online.
do all of the xbox 360 pro bundles with forza and marvel have falcon chips 175w?
Nope.
I think they should put Viva Pinata in instead, a good way to promote their underrated new franchise.
Considering they put out a 2nd game that seems to get bad reviews universally, prolly not a good idea.
