• You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
• Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
  On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
• On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold. Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

What is this?

Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :

1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.

The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

It doesn't hurt that most of these are at a fat juicy discount. I've been toying with getting Immortals Fenyx Rising for a while and I don't think it can be any better of a time to do so.

I had no idea there was a birthday (in December) survey that you can fill out. Three quick questions for $10 in Dell Rewards isn't too bad. Got 500 Dell Rewards points for the Spore Hunter game today as well.

Thank you for posting this, I had missed it in my email. Little weird to get $10 instead of DRP, hopefully it shows up in my account and doesn't just vanish into the ether. I‘m finally ready to declare my game of the year. It was tough considering how many great games came out in 2023. My GOTY wasn't a remake or a sequel. No massive open world or thousands of lines of dialogue. The graphics and sound aren't cutting edge but complement the gameplay. The soundtrack only has one song and it's a banger. The addictive gameplay keeps you coming back week after week. No $70 price tag or overpriced DLC. Perhaps the most discussed game in this thread ever. Congratulations to Spore Hunter, my 2023 GOTY. Disclaimer: The $10 reward today may have influenced my decision.

Maybe I should have phrased it differently but the WB-Discovery merger didn’t exactly go all too well. WB’s stock is down more than half of its value since the merger. Paramount is down 40% in the last year.

But sure, merging the two is clearly a great idea and definitely comparable to Microsoft-ATV.

Just to add to this, unlike Sony and Embracer Group which are imploding, laying off people, closing down studios, with top level executives jumping ship to come work for team green, meanwhile Microsoft is the only one that is thriving and hiring. Clearly MS are doing something right. Also they were voted best company to work for in 2023

Digging around a bit, I think that post is just a troll. There IS a playable PC build, but I'd imagine it would take more time for someone to port the app to UWP.

Comcast is sending DMCAs notices to people who download the Wolverine exe, presumably through torrents without VPN. I kind of doubt they do anything to Downloader alone, only those who are distributing.

Apparently there is also a build of Spider-Man 3, but its basically just SM2 files since the game is so far away.

It really hit me with Forza Motorsport this year. It came out while I was deep into Sea of Stars, so I didn’t put a lot of time into it at launch. Unfortunately for me, the first timed showcase series reward was the Acura DPi I’ve watched race up close for the last six years at IMSA races with my boys. But I missed it, and I still haven’t bothered to put time into Forza.

Maybe I’m old, maybe I’m nostalgic, maybe I’m sick of marketing taking precedence over game design. But Sea of Stars and Wrestlequest are the most memorable games I’ve played this year by a mile.

I think I figured out the trick to reliably getting Dell to push through orders for Xbox Digital items (so far, I've gotten two games in the last 3 months). It's wild that EVERYTHING is full price, though (Ex. Far Cry 6 Game of the year edition? That'll be $119.99, please). I have $50 in Dell Rewards credit, and everything I'm interested in is either full price (Outer Worlds - Spacer's Choice, Atlas Fallen, Dead Island 2, etc), or not available on the site.

After my initial debacle with multiple paypal authorizations (I bought Assassin's Creed Mirage with $50 in rewards, but used paypal for the $3.16 in tax..and they kept putting $53.16 holds on my account every 10 days), I only trust Dell with orders that are fully paid for via Rewards.

I Feel a game that is about two years out is more work than it is anything close to being a playable preview demo or whatever. Like it's at the point where this is a full on job for game testers or people at Westwood College who gotta polish up the graphics on level three. Also I want the chicken fully cooked, not just rubbed in some spices and put in the microwave for one minute after having it in the freezer.

Horizon is definitely worse than Motorsport when it comes to timed content with the seasons added in FH4 and FH5. Don’t know why it hit me harder with the new FM.

I just want to play games and not feel like I’m doing chores logging in every day y o progress to unlock something.

I Sure as hell don't want that WB and Paramount to have a merger, but if WB does swallow the squirming writhing cheaper body of Paramount I wonder what that means for Movies Anywhere.

I hope they don't for a personal reason: they still haven't canceled my Paramount+ free trial from March this year. Imagine running a business so poorly that you literally give away lifetime free accounts due to some sort of issue with trial codes.

2. Order invariably gets stuck in their system (something about "pending validation"). This will NEVER process on it's own.
3. Call Dell Order Support (866-350-3355), and give them the Dell Purchase ID (since you won't have an order number yet).
The Order Support representative will tell you that there's something wrong with the order and offer to cancel it. DO NOT DO THIS!!!!
Instead, ask them to refer the Dell Purchase ID to the "Order Modification Team" (this is akin to a 'tier 2' support on their end). They might push back on this, but stand your ground and have the rep escalate the transaction to order modification.

4. Within 12(ish) hours, I've gotten an email from "[email protected]", quickly followed by an email from digital fulfillment that "your product is available in your dell digital locker".
5. Snag the code, and redeem it as usual.

Not sure why it's such a hassle, but any order for Xbox digital items seem to default to 'pending validation'. They require manual intervention to flow through the system. Cancelling and reordering will not work...at least in my experience.

It sucks that they push through a temporarily hold for the full amount with tax. It took several phone calls to Dell Finance (not their credit card division) to have them cancel the ORIGINAL Paypal transaction that is generating the temporary holds every 10 days.

It makes sense for F2P GaaS games to do this because they gotta make money. Something like FH is a bit iffier but at least you can still buy the cars you missed out on if you wait long enough for them to show back up in the Festival store. I put FH5 down earlier in like June but I came back later just so I can unlock the Rivian vehicles and then put it back down again.

The greatest grievance is something like Sea of Thieves doing those two week long narrative events (Adventures). I'm a story guy myself so it would be really cool to be able to replay some of these events in the future with some friends but as of now, I can't. I haven't touched Sea of Thieves since late 2019 so I missed out on a lot. If I'm not mistaken though, I think these narrative events are influenced by the community? Like how the community resolves an event influences the next event and so on and so forth? If that's the case then I understand why they can't be replayed.

I had that same nightmare. They kept authorizing the full amount when most of it was paid with Dell rewards. Paypal was useless in stopping it, Dell kept saying that it's not on their end. I had it stop by logging into my Capital One app and locking my credit card. Then they tried authorization again but it failed because the card was locked. I don't want to go through that again so I'm with you on rewards covering the cost in full.

According to TA, the Xbox One version of Journey to the Savage Planet that's on sale also grants access to the Employee of the Month Edition that has a separate achievement stack and is Series enhanced but isn't on sale. The XB1 version has a DLC with achievements that isn't currently on sale, but has been on sale a few times in the past 6 months. The Series version has all the achievements, but its GS has been rebalanced to 1K. I didn't play it while it was on Game Pass, but think I'll bite for the $8.99 / 70% off price in this sale for both versions.

Will also bite on Hades at 50% off, since I barely scratched the surface with it while it was on Game Pass. Was also looking at Defunct and River City Ransom, but I apparently already own them. Shredder's Revenge is on GP Core, so can wait for a better discount there. Interestingly, that had a date of mid-June 2024 (masked by the current sale), but the Dimension Shellshock DLC has a date of mid-June 2026. Wonder if the base game will move out to 2026 once the countdown sale ends.

Another GP departure I didn't finish is Infernax. Not in the countdown sale but the currently weekly at 30% off. Might wait, but it's all Dewritos and Rewards credit, so might not.

So I picked up the Series X from Best Buy when it was $340. How backwards compatible is it, from experience? I was curious, like if I wanted to buy the FF13 series from Xbox 360 would they play? Or is there some list criteria? I see a lot of conflicting and varying answers when Googling (because of course it's not that simple). It being a 4k blu-ray player is a nice bonus, but if I'm not going to get as much gaming use out of it unless I buy digital (which I can do, but prefer physicals if I have consoles).

If it is backwards compatible, would y'all have suggestions on good RPGs and adventure games? Fable, Dragon Age, Final Fantasy are all on the list already, but off the wall ones would be great. Thanks in advance!

There's a list you can check. Also anything older titles you see on the Microsoft Store are backwards compatible so you can never make the mistake of purchasing a non-BC title.

Just found out that Amazon won't let you purchase digital gift or membership cards using your Amazon account balance. This must have taken effect this year. I wanted to give my sister a x-mas gift. So frustrating.

I had that same nightmare. They kept authorizing the full amount when most of it was paid with Dell rewards. Paypal was useless in stopping it, Dell kept saying that it's not on their end. I had it stop by logging into my Capital One app and locking my credit card. Then they tried authorization again but it failed because the card was locked. I don't want to go through that again so I'm with you on rewards covering the cost in full.

Sorry that it happened to you as well, but I'm glad that I wasn't the only one. It took WEEKS to get it sorted out.

Came close to just plugging in a fake address in Alaska and paying for a $49.99 game with $50 in rewards.

Can't imagine buying ANYTHING sizable from them.

I have $50 right now, and I wish it was possible to buy a $10-15 Dell gift card in order to cash out. I don't trust them with any other payment method...and it's taking freaking forever to build up more rewards dollars.
