General info
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
    On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold. Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

What is this?
Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :
  1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
  2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
  3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
  4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
  5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.
The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

I'm Xbox first, but the dual sense is pretty badass if utilized well. Aside from that, the PS5 is basically my PS4 Pro Pro - I'm playing all the games I couldn't bear to on my Pro due to its jet engine fan. The PS5 is silent. It's glorious.

You probably already know this but Playstation Plus is giving the PS4 version of Final Fantasy Remake, and does not include the upgraded PS5 version of the game. But the PS4 version is still playable on a PS5 and it is a fantastic game.

I just finished a blind play through of Shadowgate Remake and it was just the right amount amount of comfy nostalgia. I like that you can switch to the classic music and retro screen transitions. There also seems to be some replay value with the puzzle's changing depending on your difficulty setting.

I was browsing the Optimized for series X games list and saw something interesting. I thought Halo: The Master Chief Collection had got all it's Series X updates but the game is still listed as in development. I wonder what other upgrades they might be bringing to the game. The list page looks like it is up to date, so I don't think it's a typo or anything

I read that they are increasing the fan speed in the firmware update for internal storage.

Not gonna lie: genuinely pissed I finally broke down and bought B5 via Vudu back when they had some ridiculous beef jerky deal + credits and then HBO Max just drops the entire thing onto the service months later. I had made it back through the first season and we just finished S2 last night. Some of the stuff doesn't hold up well, mainly fluff episodes but damn if it doesn't still have some punch with things I had forgotten in the last 25 years since watching it. Glad I'm finally getting around to it because a) I don't think I was ever able to see it sequentially and b) I definitely never finished the show because my VCR didn't record an episode somewhere right around the end of season 5 and I never got around to seeing the finale of the show because of it.

I'm on the exact same boat as you bro, i started owning multiple systems since the PS2 days and then i bought the Gamecube but when the OG Xbox came out i was oficially smitten and then Xbox Live launched and playing Halo online just took my Xbox love to a whole other level.

I continued purchasing Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft consoles every generation after that but my main was always Xbox, Playstation i mainly bought for MLB The Show due to the huge passion i have for baseball but i've always hated the Playstation controller and Nintendo consoles were mainly due to my wife's love for Mario Bros.

When i heard that MLB The Show was coming to Xbox i literally said i had no more use for Playstation due the huge backlog of Xbox games i own since I can play all of them on my Xbox Series X and S.

I was able to trade-in my PS4 Pro with a small bonus for using the credit towards my Xbox Series X on release day and i haven't missed the Playstation since.

I'm ecstatic i'll finally be able to play MLB The Show against a couple of Playstation friends on Xbox due to crossplay.

And i totally agree about Microsoft's pro-consumer mentality having a BIG impact on my decision to ditch Playstation this generation, don't get me wrong, I enjoyed some Sony exclusives like God Of War, Uncharted, Horizon, Jack And Daxter, Sly Cooper and Ratchet And Clark, but i just don't feel the need to own 3 consoles anymore due to my huge backlog of games and not enough time to play them all and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate combined with EA Play and Xcloud is more than enough gaming goodness for me from here on out.

Yes, I saw that as well. Hoping it doesn't make the fan obnoxious, lol.

Honestly, console fan noise was my biggest annoyance for both the PS4 Pro and One X. Eventually just opened up my X and replaced the thermal paste; made a world of difference.

You actually pay for Bing points/MS Rewards with your time. Not knocking what you’re saying, but it’s not exactly paying nothing. If you add up the time it takes to earn enough points to pay for a year of Gold and/or Game Pass, it’s probably much quicker to work for $30 to pay for PS+.

How much time do you think this takes to do? It is two minutes a day to do searches on Bing. That is not time I would otherwise spend doing something else. On top of that it is doing the Game Pass Quests (and not even all of them) which the longest might be 15 minutes a week playing video games.

For me taking the few minutes of time I would waste each morning and taking 15 minutes a week out of time I would spend playing video games and play a different video game I would rather do that than waste two more hours a month at work. Some of you people act like playing video games is such a painful thing to do.

Edit: You and I already spent more time posting on here than it takes to do the Bing searches each day :p

That's been one of the true joys of the next gen systems, almost complete silence. I can barely hear either one of them, especially over the volume of the game. The PS4 Pro was completely ridiculous in how loud it got. The XB1X was significantly quieter, but it was still audible at times.

I understand the logic, but yesterday I was sitting in a Doctors office waiting room and a woman was sitting 2 seats away on Instagram on her phone. I sat down and did my mobile bing searches in less then two minutes, when I was done I saw her off and on for another 10 minutes scrolling on Instagram before I was called back. I guess my point is, I don’t do Facebook or Twitter or Instagram scrolling, but I will grab Bing points and post on CAG and visit specific Reddit boards and True Achievements. I guess I don’t see bing as an alternate to my day job, it’s another useless site like so many of us visit, but it gives me free games or a free controller from time to time.

The only point I was trying to make was that Bing points aren’t necessarily free when making a value comparison to $2.50 per month for PS+. A Game Pass reward for one month is 12,000 points, or ~4 hours of searches if you do both PC and mobile.

Not trying to argue...I take advantage of MS Rewards like most of us.

Amen. The fact is that my obsession with The Show ultimately keeps me from finishing other games like most people do. If I was smart, I wouldn't get a PS5 for a very long time. The last big game I actually finished on PS was TLOU and I still have TLOU2, HZD, Spider-Man, God of War, Uncharted 3, 4, and The Lost Legacy, and FF7 to work through just to name a few. Maybe this year will finally be the year I fully mature as a gamer and get over the "gotta have it" mentality.

I decided to play some Far Cry 5 to see if I had left any missions out. Turns out I had left a few so I had a blast finishing those and earned a bunch of achievements as well. I would like to pick up Far Cry 6, I did some googling and it looks like its delayed until May 2021? Anybody have a firm date yet? I decided to try out Falconeer today. I played for maybe 10-15 minutes, the controls are not what I had expected. I think I just need to give it another go. Perhaps I will try out Dirt 5, I know I read some positive comments about it. I just compare all racing games to Forza. I don’t feel any of them even come close.

The One X is silent in the beginning, but that thermal paste wears off. Ms will replace it for that but I’m sure the stuff you added is probably better.

I have had had almost each system of a generation since I was 18 with the exception of the Wii U. I have strongly preferred the Xbox since the first came out and the 360 hooked me to their ecosystem. A couple of weeks after they announced MLB the show was going multi platform, I sold my PS4. I ended up only using it for the Show. I don’t know if you have seen, but they’ve announced the different editions of the game and the Jackie Robinson editions come with both Xbox and X series versions(same with PS5). As far as what I’ve seen, what you do on the older gen will carryover to the new one. So even if you don’t get the X by April, you could get started on this years game on the One. I don’t need the extra stuff that is included in the more expensive editions since I only play RTTS but paying a bit more so I could play on each system in either room is tempting.

Really enjoyed new dawn. It also has some new systems that I hope make it into Far Cry 6. One of those being to abandon an outpost which allows the enemy to retake it but it becomes more fortified with tougher and smarter enemies. Also, if you play it directly after 5, it's fun to see how the event changed the locations in the game.

Yea but you don't have to do that to get a 3 month GCU code every two months. I did not bother doing that and if there is a GP quest for a game I really do not want to play I just don't play it.

I'd put that as a one off or two off since they had one in October, and if you took 40+ hours you were doing things wrong. Downside now my alt has so many points I can't even give myself the 5000 each month unless I wait a year and a half. Just going to have to buy games and gift to myself.... Looking at you Fuser

You can just create another xbox profile and link your 2nd bing rewards account to it. Anything you buy is useable on each profile, I have 3 accounts going but only have gold on one, so that's the one I save for gold price sales or transfer points from other accounts to. The other 2 I use to buy sale items that don't require gold.

 
You can get Gold/Game Pass discounted just like you can get PS+ on the cheap if you don't want to do some simple rewards quests.

At least threre is a Microsoft Rewards program that has very good rewards you can get quite often.  Does Sony even have anything? I think I signed up for some rewards program when I got a PS4 a year ago. I still have not seen any rewards though. Nintendo has an ok rewards program I guess. Still no where near as good as Microsoft Rewards though in my opinion.

 I have got so much back from the MS rewards program. It is definitely worth the little bit of time I spend doing bing searches, daily/weekly quests,  and playing games. It's part of my morning routine as I get up each morning. Read some news and do some rewards points while having my morning coffee.

One of those being to abandon an outpost which allows the enemy to retake it but it becomes more fortified with tougher and smarter enemies. The best part of New Dawn was when it tied in directly into 5. I couldn’t help but reevaluate my opinion of Joseph Seed.
 
I made a meta-game out of figuring out ways to earn the weekly and monthly Game Pass Rewards quest without doing much at all.

Today, I went into the matchmaking lobby in Titanfall 2, left the screen open for 30 seconds, and completed the "Gain 21 Net worth" quest.

Then, I walked back and forth on the platform in the first stage of Human: Fall Flat enough times to complete the "Travel 500 Metres" quest.

And, I started GreedFall a week ago, and I fell asleep through all the talky parts (it's a talky game), so I might have to actually battle the 15 enemies to unlock that one.  :shock:

I'm pretty sure this list does get out of date sometimes, I believe I've noticed errors before.

MCC did already get it's Series update back in November. 4K up to 120 FPS. FOV sliders.

There are some more FOV/PC style quality of life settings coming with the next season, but I'm not sure that they're Series exclusive since FOV is also coming to One.

Reticle centering, and weapon offset (moves the weapon models). The other updates are just general content for all versions, new armors and maps for Halo 3 mostly.

It's so weird that rewards points arguments always try to steer the conversation to Bing searches, rewards quests, and the time they take... like, are you not earning 1,000s of free rewards points from purchases you make every month on sale games that you'll never play? I also shouldn't have to point out that there are 1,000s of quest reward points every month that require no additional time investment, and many times 6,000 points for select pre-orders.

Growing your backlog through discounts, and earning free shit. As CAGs, this is the way.

The Playstation rewards program is okay. Nothing compared to Microsoft. With Sony, $10 gift cards are 1,000 points. I think the give 1 point per dollar spent, but digital movie codes earn 45 points and every 5 movies earns a free one. They also have a couple 200-500 point one-time quests. I get about two $10 gift cards and a couple free digital movies a year.
