• You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
• Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
  On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.

What is this?

Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :

1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.

The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

From my time playing it, half of it is multiplayer stuff the other is single. The single player stuff is short like under two hours and really the most interesting one among them was the one where you go after the Zodiac Killer, but even then majority of the gameplay is still the same as the base game so you're not missing too much. Also the other one is the one where you kinda sorta team up with some of the cast of Watch Dogs 1 is a reminder that God that first game was so forgettable and Ubisoft trying to make their iconic character from the first game...uh...neck gaiter and baseball cap man into a thing is never going to happen and I don't know why they bother.

Fun fact after you buy it and install the season pass it grants you access to the digital version of watch dogs 2 so you can then sell the disc and make it cheaper (this worked probably 5 years ago, not positive it still does but worth a shot)

So it looks like everything in yesterday's State of Play (outside of Ghostwire, Forspoken, Returnal and newly announced Valkyrie Elysium) has confirmed a simultaneous release on Xbox, so that's cool.

Amusingly, they even showcased Trek to Yomi which already announced last year that they would be on Game Pass day 1.

It seems inevitable that Ghostwire will come to Xbox but I wonder if Squeenix will keep Valkyrie Elysium exclusive like Bravely Default II, or port it later like Octopath Traveler.

Apparently, Giga Bash, which was slated for Xbox and Switch when it was announced way back in 2019, got moneyhatted and is now PS/PC like Forspoken and Valkyrie Elysium.

As a data point for anybody interested:
A couple days ago when GS had their coupon glitch I ordered the AC Valhalla Ragnarok expansion. It actually went through and I got my code, but then didn’t redeem it.
I today noticed there was a punchcard for the Ragnarok expansion. I completed the activation step, then redeemed my code, and to my joy the second punch completed and I got my points.
So yeah… that worked.

I finished Elden Ring just now (and all achievements). It was a fun world to explore. With magic and summons only a few bosses were annoying.

I need to dig up what the story is. The only cutscenes in the game pretty much just say "get the elden ring and become the elden lord."

With the large world, it's easy to miss several side quests. There is no way to track them or know what you do will void that quest. Several times I got distracted and came back to an area to find NPCs missing or dead. They may pop up later like their quest is complete, but you have no reward other than starting the next leg of their journey.

Game timer says 104 hours. The last few areas I just ran past heavy hitting enemies and just fought bosses. I just lost the will to explore those areas too much. I had a build I liked and didn't care to change it.

Even with guides, areas I've thoroughly explored still had little bits of content hidden in valleys or corners. It's extremely frustrating for a game like this to have so much content when the point is supposed to be NG+ pushing. It makes me not want to finish the game because all the progress is reset except my level. That feels really bad after 80 hours of content grinding. I also looked up rememberances to see which I wanted to dupe before NG+ and there's like 50% on there I don't recognize which means I somehow have missed EVEN MORE content and have no idea how, or where it is.

Save states and the rewind function will make the original NES game actually playable and fun. There is a good game hiding inside of some terrible design decisions.

I refuse to play that game again. 8-year old me never got over that god dam seaweed. Whenever I did get past it I was limping with maybe one turtle left.

As someone who got to play the DLC for "free" via Ubisoft+, it is basically more Watch Dogs 2. I honestly can't tell you what the stories in the DLCs were because they didn't seem remarkable. Unfortunately, it looks like the Season Pass has never gotten cheaper than $16 on XBL. If you're a completionist, then go ahead. Otherwise, I'd say skip it and stick with the base game if you can get it for less than $10.

I was very excited about the release of this table when it was announced. I understand the reasoning behind the pricing but I can't justify that price for only one table. I will wait for a sale.

I’ve been all digital practically this entire generation due to game share w/ my partner so we both opted for the Series S this time around (the recent GameStop trade in for the One X was helpful, since I was able to essentially do an even swap). The lack of hard drive space is a pain at times on hers because she only plays a few games but of course she bounces to Ark and Sea of Thieves every now and then and that’s over 200 GB right there. Add in Destiny (so I can use the nice tv haha) and Halo, and we’re basically capped. I just have Destiny and mostly smaller stuff on mine, and an external for Xbone games, but I have a feeling we’ll be getting one of the extra SSDs for one console at least.

All FromSoft souls games assume you have the internet to look up guides, forums, talk to friends, etc. Because of that, they don't have to hold your hand and usher you to every little piece of content so they don't feel like they wasted dev time on something that got overlooked. Instead, they and us get to share in the joy of discovering something new later because everyone else assumed that hallway was a dead end. Personally, I'm trying to avoid guides or spoilers so I can find things myself on my initial wretch run. When you start with nothing and don't know where anything is, every twinkling sparkle on the ground, unopened chest, or new area could finally have a damn helmet that doesn't weigh 8 Miyazakis.

If 80 hours of gameplay and finding there's still more to discover feels like a grind to you, that's OK. You got 80 hours for your $60 (or less with discounts or punchcards). Personally, I'm looking forward to playing this game for the next year and continuing to find new things, or realize I should have gone to this area before that one, or that riding past that encounter means I missed a weapon art that's perfect for my build. I already just found a tower you can only open by killing space turtles and realized the one I passed over 20 hours ago probably worked the same way. Maybe there's a helmet in there!

If you watch a Digital Foundry video, they go into the changes that are made for games running on the Series S. If you don't have a 4K TV, you would not notice most of them. It is usually related to graphical features and frame rates.

I am in the same boat as some of the others here, if I could get a Series S with a disc drive, I would grab one for a second Xbox console in the house, but for now I will keep the One X as the kids console while I enjoy the Series X in my gaming room.

It's like they're optimized differently. If you look at some of the games that have a native Series version the split tends to be 4k or 1440p at 30 FPS on One X, while Series S is running 1440p or 1080p at 60 FPS.

The place you'll see the biggest negative is BC games, since Series S can't run One X Enhanced games. Often this means downgrades from 4k all the way down to 900p.

Honestly not sure what the Resolution or FPS boost situation is on Series S. I only know that OG Xbox games still get a resolution bump.

All FromSoft souls games assume you have the internet to look up guides, forums, talk to friends, etc. Because of that, they don't have to hold your hand and usher you to every little piece of content so they don't feel like they wasted dev time on something that got overlooked. Instead, they and us get to share in the joy of discovering something new later because everyone else assumed that hallway was a dead end. Personally, I'm trying to avoid guides or spoilers so I can find things myself on my initial wretch run. When you start with nothing and don't know where anything is, every twinkling sparkle on the ground, unopened chest, or new area could finally have a damn helmet that doesn't weigh 8 Miyazakis.

If 80 hours of gameplay and finding there's still more to discover feels like a grind to you, that's OK. You got 80 hours for your $60 (or less with discounts or punchcards). Personally, I'm looking forward to playing this game for the next year and continuing to find new things, or realize I should have gone to this area before that one, or that riding past that encounter means I missed a weapon art that's perfect for my build. I already just found a tower you can only open by killing space turtles and realized the one I passed over 20 hours ago probably worked the same way. Maybe there's a helmet in there!

My issue is that in past games they felt just about right in length so that I could finish a run, then come back for more to level up or pursue an item I couldn't get on the first run due to boss soul limitations, branching NPC paths, or for whatever reason. Now it's the opposite where finishing a run sets the stage for a daunting task of having to clear places again with no clear goal in mind. My build is complete, so now I could go through the game and just smash everything again BUT I wish I could reset my level to 1 so at least I feel progression again plus get invaded. Delete save is an option, but I'd want to keep all my items so there's no ideal path for me. At least Demon's Souls you could revert to level 1 with the soulsuck ability and a friend, but this is a different beast altogether. :???:

You could just make another save file. My son currently has 3.
