• You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
• Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
  On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
• On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold. Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

What is this?

Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :

1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.

The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

Has nothing software-related or internet-related ever failed you before? It sucks that it's on your one day to play, but it happens. Before today, who knows how long it's been since something like this has happened.

Things happen I agree, but all day? I have been trying to launch Mircroft rewards since early this morning. I have also tried to download Batman from GWG all day. Not cool it has not worked for me all day. I can accept some down time, but not an entire day.

I am currently gaming on other systems due to the total failure of Xbox today. What does that say about Xbox as a gaming platform? I regret all my purchases on Xbox up to this point and I have been a huge fan of Xbox up until today.

Having worked in the tech industry for *mumble mumble* years, I can say that while outages that last 10 hours, 20 hours, or longer aren't incredibly common they do happen. Multiple teams, sometimes multiple companies, have to get involved, and the more technologies involved the more complicated the issue is to fix. And you can issue a guesstimate as to when services will be back up, but it's usually no more than that - a guess.

TL;DR- They get fixed when they get fixed. At that point it's best to focus on something else.

Hey, it is a free game I should be able to download it today. I still have not been able to download this game unfortunately. Lots of errors and trying to figure out what I am doing wrong. Not cool no matter how you try and spin it as non trivial.

This is not a DDOS as far as I can tell. If it were I would imagine we would be hearing news about it. This is just sloppy service support from Microsoft

Sorry there is no sugar coating this unless Microsoft comes back with a detailed reason why their services did not work for a whole day over the weekend which is prime time for gaming .

What you are saying is it is ok to accept subpar service for something you paid for from time to time. When you sell applications that depend on a service running you need to provide a certain level of up time. To say 12-24 hours of down time is acceptable for a commercial service that depends on online connectivity to work seems very unreasonable to me.

Sony was hacked in the PS3 days and was down for weeks. My nephew was SOL. He only plays in PlayStation. I just played on my 360. I consider giving up on Sony then.

Neither has been up 24/7/365 both services have had partial or complete outages for hours at a time. Not sure is Sony's updates were better or what. Ultimately there has been times one or the other has been down and I couldn't play.

I’ve built enough computers and run enough networks and servers that I get they have outages. I actually couldn’t download several games today on my new Xbox One X but I saw on Xbox Status page that they had outages on purchase and purchase content. I figured it would be up by tomo and I have about 400 games already on my external drive that I can play with no issues now that I have a working console again.

The Microsoft Rewards app is back up and running now, but I can't tell if any of the three achievements that I earned while playing Streets of Rogue yesterday qualified for the 50 points on Saturday.  I'm trying to hit 4000 points by Monday, so I can cash out a $5 Microsoft gift card in order to buy Turok before it's not on sale anymore.

By the way, Streets of Rogue is not on sale anymore, but it is a very fun game kind of like a 16-bit version of Grand Theft Auto with bite-sized missions (no vehicles) in each stage.  Nothing that we haven't seen before, but the violence and the dark humor is where the fun comes in.  I hadn't spent $13.99 on a game in a while, but I don't feel ripped off having spent that amount last week when it was on sale with Gold.  I played it for three hours yesterday before my eyes started to hurt.

I think a big part of that is all the crap Microsoft is building into the OS on XBox One. It would be better to be more minimalist with changes and focus on performance and reliability. Nowadays when I turn my XBox One on I wonder what is going to not work as expected. When I experience an issue it just irritates me since all I really want to do is play a video game. That's the whole reason I buy game consoles and not buy gaming PCs. I just want it to work when I use it.

The only modern console that appears to not have these issues is Nintendo Switch. The OS is very simple and focused on gaming as it should be with a console in my opinion. I guess I am becoming less interested in Sony/Microsoft consoles because of all the crap they are building into consoles instead of focusing on the reliability/performance of the system

I do get that, I've been frustrated at things not working right myself. I also know that everything on the planet produced by humans has a fault rate percentage. It should be very, very low because a high one is no excuse. Humans eff up, I try to remember that.

Even if that means I have one day of downtime every year. If you play PC you usually have days or weeks of downtime when you upgrade your pc or when your video card fails etc. Technology is just prone to have issues sometimes.

If I went by your logic I would have quit Xbox when the 360 was in its infancy. My launch console got both the RROD as well as the e74 error later on in its life. My Elite also got the RROD, and it's Ethernet port went bad back in 2010 so I lost Live capabilities (too cheap to fix or replace it and definitely too cheap to buy the wireless adapter). Hell, my launch OG Xbox's DVD drive failed within two years. I should be suckling Nintendo's teat right now. Oh wait, my Gamecube drive also failed in a couple years. Don't get me started on how many cleaners I had to buy so my NES would read my cartridges properly. Don't worry, my first PS2 stopped reading DVD's as well, and I have a PS3 in storage that can't read any discs either. So I guess what I'm saying is I should join the PC Master Race. Anybody got 5 grand they can permanently loan me?
