General info
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
    On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold. Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

What is this?
Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :
  1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
  2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
  3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
  4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
  5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.
The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

My phone never went past the second question in Round 1. It brought up a "Prepare for Round 2" screen... and nothing. After 70 minutes of waiting (and watching the World Series) I gave up. WTF happened? When and where did they announce they were giving all participants 5000 reward points? They're not showing up in my account, and there's no notice (either text or email) to that effect.

What a s***show.

They stated on the stream that everyone would get the 5K MS points and we should keep an eye on our email as they intend to "make up" for the whole fail.

I absolutely loved that game and was so disappointed when they ended it. If they roll it out on certain nights after the new consoles comes out, I’d play every time it was on. Damn it was fun.
 
I had plans for my GF's birthday right at the time the quiz show started so I just started the streams for our accounts on my PC and let it run. Glad I didn't have the chance to participate in their fail. I assume we got the 5000 points but I don't know, I can't be bothered to keep track of our rewards points that closely.

So what’s the best deal on EA Access right now before the conversion? Everywhere I see it’s around $27. Was thinking there were deals for $23-24.
 
Supraland has been interesting. Thought it looked more like a kids game but it's a puzzle platformer. It's kept me entertained for a few hours.

Does anybody fully understand how the cyberpunk rockstar codes work? What does the 90 day expiration refer to? Can I redeem my tab codes as I get them and redeem the Microsoft credit in one batch at the last minute and have all $60 expire 90 days from then? Or is it 90 days from when I redeem each tab code?
 
You could probably wait til the last day of the promotion to generate the codes but I wouldn’t chance it, I’m using them to buy Cyberpunk so I’m not worried about the 90 days.

I bought 60 cans but I’m still waiting on someone to buy more than 60 to see if they can just make another rockstar account and keep adding them before I buy more.

Playing Mad Max and one thing I hope they get rid of next gen from a story telling stand point in open world games (especially ones where your character is moral shades of gray) is the whole take orders from an angry tough guy who leads a team of people who all talk shit when you're around, but are just the most incompetent bunch of idiots ever and really should all be dead. They're the most unsympathetic group of people and really drag the game down and is just so lazy in terms of writing. Like in Far Cry 4 there comes a point where you have to kill one of the leaders you've been taking orders from and they try and make a meal of how dramatic this moment is, but meanwhile I can't skip their dumb monologue so I'm just pounding on the right trigger eager to blast them in the head and have one less person yelling at me.

I wish I knew how home consoles worked with respect to Series S/X and Xbox One.  This would be a big factor for in deciding whether to sell an X1.  Can you have one home console in each generation, or does making a Series X a home console remove that from an Xbox One?

I would be very surprised if they limited you to 1 home console spanned across both gens. But not knowing is all the more reason to not buy day 1.

Jeebus bless the early adopters working out the bugs for us patient gamers.

 
My only concern is how it will affect game licenses. The current plan is to keep the X1X as home console, and log in to the XSX for normal play. Once I boot up AC Valhalla on the Series X though, will that alter the license to be upgraded or is it truly just a smart delivery service patch? I’m fairly certain it’s the latter but hadn’t seen the question answered yet so just an unknown for me.

I guess the reason it’s even a thought is because with how Sony has handled things, I could completely see them being a one-way street on licenses. “Free upgrade” really meaning no going back to PS4 for whatever reason.

Anything branded as Smart Delivery, which all of Ubisoft's games that are getting portsare, is supposed to be treated as the same entity by your Account, but it will download the version that runs best on whatever system you are on, One, One X, Series S, or Series X. I think the only game that currently has actually been seen in practice with the preview people that have the new console is is Gears 5.

I think the PS5 transfer is more messy as it sounds like a PS4 and 5 game are treated as two different SKUs, with different build branches or something. That's the only reason I can see save files not transferring smoothly as announced for Yakuza 7.

On either console, I don't think anything announced is planned to be a one-way-street style upgrade, but especially on Xbox I don't think that is going to be allowed. At worst, I think we may see some physical editions that come with a redemption code for next gen, from the shitty upgrades like CoD or the sports games. I also can see more games just getting a next-gen version with NO upgrade path.

That’s the impression I got. Smart Delivery so far has been the most user friendly third party method. I’m keeping my X1X but after a while I might set my XSX as home console if I can set my auto downloads to my external HDD that will hold this gen’s games.

Pretty much what I was thinking as well, but was wary of what little surprises we may find day one. MS has definitely handled communication far better than Sony so far.

 
Trying to play one spooky game before October ends. What's the general consensus on best game to play. I have both Evil Within games that I haven't yet played. Think 2 is supposed to be a much better game. I've yet to play RE2, RE3 remakes or RE7. What's the consensus here. Anything else I should play instead?

Not sure you can go wrong here. I did get bored with EW2 after 15 minutes, but played through most of the first game. Just felt like fragmented lesser games of Silent Hill and RE combined, so I’d vote RE7 as it was an excellent return to form after that garbage sixth game.

RE7 would be my vote if you're looking for scary. RE2 and evil within are also very good. RE3 was too actiony and haven't played evil within 2.

Played some Supraland last night. It was fun enough but I am not sure the controls are going to allow me to finish the game honestly. They are just too floaty for me. Plus I kind of got lost at one point and then died and the checkpoint was not even close to the area I was in and I lost a bunch of progression. I may hop on every so often and explore but I am not really that crazy to get back.

 
Finally saw the Rockstar Cyberpunk cans today at Albertsons Market today (ABQ area). They have them on sale 3 for $5 so I grabbed 3 for now. I'm going to keep my eye out for them at other stores (i.e. Dollar Tree, Smith's, Target, etc). Took them (Rockstar) long enough,lol.

 
Not ragging on any of you guys, but man, I don't know how y'all can drink Rockstar or any of those energy drinks that sponsor a music festival. The only time I bought them was when Wal-Mart had that deal with additional weeks of Game Pass Ultimate and cheaper than buying a subscription. Even then I just opened up the cans and dumped that into the sink.

I've never done crack but i imagine if I did it would feel about the same as the time I had a rockstar

 
Fred Meyer / Kroger has Rockstar 10/$10, and has the Cyberpunk cans. I have a friend that drinks a ton of the stuff, and has been sending me the codes, so I bout a bunch for him. Help out a friend, and get XBox cash in return. Seems like a good deal.
