• You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
• Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
  On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.

What is this?

Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :

1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.

The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

After putting 10 hours into Halo infinite I can tell you without a doubt it’s the second best FarCry game I’ve played this year.

I'm still having a blast with the Forza Horizon games. I was about 90 hours into DQ XI at the end of Act II, but I've been spending all my time this last week or so in Forza games, usually 3. Really wish they didn't abandon the Hub before actually removing it, it now won't track anything. So it's only good for collecting the weekly credits at the Tier it thinks I'm at, and only for FH3 and FH4 since FH2 and FM6 don't have any servers anymore. I'm glad I grabbed Blizzard Mountain for cheap before delisting, but I'm kicking myself for not jumping on FM7 before it was delisted.

I do have a question for Forza Horizon vets, is the only way for me to unlock the Warthog in FH3 by spending an obscene amount of credits in the Auction House? Every article I read was from 5 years ago, and it talks about Forzathons which I don't really understand since they seem to be different after the game was delisted. I haven't played enough of FH4 or FH5 to understand them there yet either, I spent 99% of my time with 3. I just saw one in the Auction House for 10,000,000 credits, and within 5 minutes it was bought out at 20,000,000. I don't have that kind of cash!

Every article I read was from 5 years ago, and it talks about Forzathons which I don't really understand since they seem to be different after the game was delisted. I haven't played enough of FH4 or FH5 to understand them there yet either, I spent 99% of my time with 3. Really enjoying as well and avoiding spoilers. Been doing the bases and freeing the soldiers along the way with trying to find the audio logs when there but if I can’t find one I move on (not using guides). While exploring I found a Halo Infinite arcade machine inside the side of a mountain playing an 8 bit theme music of Halo.

Did you fire up FM7 before it was delisted through Game Pass? People who did received a token when it was delisted. Don't remember if the token had an expiration. Unless you have a digital only console, you could also pick up a physical copy. The game had some car DLCs, but there were no expansions or any extra achievements, so a physical version will only block you out on DLC cars. If you want to try that route, some online retailers still have codes (CDKeys or eBay).

In FH3, the Forzathons used the XB1 challenge system to give out various things for completing objectives in the game. (Looks like State of Decay and Elder Scrolls Online are the only games to use challenges since January 2020.) Early ones in the game's life cycle ran a few days, but later on they ran for weeks or months. There were also autoshow discounts, which is the grayed out "#Forzathon Sales" section in the autoshow. The "#Forzathon ends in 28k days" part of the social tab in the menu was also where you'd find the challenges in game. When game support ended, they just set a date way out. Will Xbox Live still be a thing when that hits 0 in 76.7 years?

Looks like the Warthog was given out 4 times through Forzathons. The Forza wiki says it was also given to players who played Halo MCC or 5 during Sept 2016.

The gifting in FH5 isn't a new thing for Forza, it used to be in the 360 games. Don't know if they ever said why it was removed with the move to XB1.

In FH4, they switched Forzathons to Forzathon Live, if you're online, at the top of every hour, you have 15 minutes to complete 3 challenges, a mix of PR stunts or skill related challenges. Clear a challenge and you get Forzathon points to spend in the Forzathon shop that refreshes weekly. Forzathon events were tweaked again for FH5. There are 2 spots on the map that appear, there's always a drift one and another based on a different skill type - speed, air, wreckage and chaos (various random challenges). You have 10 minutes to complete 3 challenges. They run more frequently, maybe starting every 10-15 minutes.

The Forzathons in FH5 were pretty bad at the start, not sure if it was online connectivity issues, or people didn't participate (possibly because of connection issues). But they were near impossible to finish unless you looked for a group because the requirements were so high. But they pushed a fix that changed the requirements to scale with the number of participants (a gripe I had with FH4). They might've gone too far in the other direction, though, since you can clear them solo in 5-6 minutes now if you fast travel between the challenge locations.

Watching the Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League gameplay trailer has me legit excited in just seeing how Sunset Overdrive as it looks.

Also playing the old Halo games and goddamn Halo 1 really, really shows it's age in the level design. Shooting and everything still feels great, but Jesus either you don't know where you're going in a large open world or you're stuck in indoor areas that all look the same. Though didn't expect to get over lack of ironsights after the last decade of shooters, but the lack of sprint is weirdly the thing I unexpectedly miss the most in the older Halo games.

I don't think Grifball is happening until Forge is here. They'd have to make their own official map for it, which I guess is possible since Bungie did it in 3 and Reach, but I don't think it'll be a priority for them based on some of their other responses to playlists issues.

I also wonder if they're going to tweak the mode, or maybe have a Grifball variant of the Gravity Hammer. As is the hammer is pretty different from past games, no longer has a lunge, and I don't think it even has much of a launch force anymore.

Really the first few months I only expect the hidden modes already in the game to release. There are several modes that you can only see available if you play the game disconnected from online.

Has anyone had any crashes with Infinite on the PC?  I've had 3 in the past day or so and it isn't terribly annoying, because load times on the PC are quick off an SSD, but just curious if others have seen similar things.  

Edit: Two more crashes tonight.  Just weird.  It seems to crash more when I'm using the grapple shot.

I ran into this over the weekend. I’d never heard of it before. After playing a couple levels I really wish this would be brought to the Xbox. It seems to be an original story, and Master Chief makes appearances. Very interesting.

Couple months ago we found there's a Minecraft Dungeons arcade game that uses collectible cards as powerups. Every time you continue, it spits out a random card of rarity that can be a melee/ranged weapon, armor, avatar skin, or pet. Honestly the coolest arcade experience we've had in a LONG while. Oh yeah, and some cards can be in foil which will further feed your addiction if you're into CCG's. Highly recommended if anyone comes across it.

FH5 - One of the Series 2 challenges is global. We, worldwide players, must gift enough cars to other players to get two special prizes. The great thing about this is we can send a gift to someone on our list of friends.

Pretty sure it's not actually affected by players at all and just a countdown timer until Christmas. So far it appears to be moving at that rate anyway. I will say I'm starting to run out of things to do, but I absolutely devoured the game.

Death's Door finally went on sale for $15 Thursday so picked that up and love it. Haven't had much time with it yet but it's basically a Zelda clone with some souls inspired mechanics, taking only the best from each. Does feel a bit under-tuned on difficulty but I don't mind for a slightly more casual outing.

TBH I'm not sure you have to gift any cars at all, just be online to collect the reward when it unlocks. It's one of those social engagements to entice people into participation, which is fine. I just hope people appreciate all the Pontiac Firebirds I've been sending after robbing them of the wheelspin LOL.

Scroll to the very bottom of the page and in the lower left corner you will see a globe icon and the current country that is selected. Click there and you can change the country which also changes the currency to the default of the country you select. It may have got changed if you followed a link to a different country store page.

I've been enjoying it. The grapple shot seems weird yet satisfying to me; last halo I played was 3 and didn't finish it. Replayed 1&2 on OG coop about a year ago. Coming from the OG version this one feels really good. Not sure I care for the far cry lite open world but the combat is fun. I am more old school when it comes to shooters; I just cannot get into the new far cry or doom games but I think they used elements from those pretty well here.

What is your experience when calling and getting a refund for a digital game purchase? The terms of a refund are within 14 days and that you haven't played a significant amount of time with it. He meets both of those.

I think I remember reading if you play over 2 hours, they consider that significant.

As I mentioned, I’m probably not going to game as much on the X1X since it’s being used as the main media hub for my home, but I also already have quite a few physical games from previous Black Fridays, clearances and other sales that I planned on using as trade fodder for PlayStation or Switch games that I really wanted (obviously gotten before I owned the X1X). I’m also figuring that my library won’t be as big as my other consoles’ if I go digital because (1) I’m neurotic as hell and I’ll want to preserve space on my 2TB SSD, and (2) I don’t need my backlog any larger than it already is. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

My thoughts on digital vs physical come down to, in 10 years how easy will it be for me to access what I bought? I feel pretty safe buying from Microsoft and on Steam. Xbox has shown a commitment to keeping old games available through backwards compatibility, rather than letting them rot in an old marketplace (PS3, PSP, Vita, 3DS, Wii, Wii U).

Second - physical games for Xbox don't really go up in value all that much (with a few small exceptions), so if you really need a copy of Forza Horizon 4 in the future, eBay and the like will be able to supply one for no more than the original MSRP. I buy a bunch of physical games for Nintendo platforms since they tend to go up / become rare eventually, in addition to having unreliable DRM.

I have no data cap and the fastest internet Verizon offers, so the convenience of digital along with wanting to have less stuff means it wins almost every time, although I don't like paying $60 for digital games I may not end up enjoying. MS Rewards helps with that. Game Pass has gone a long way in getting used to digital as well.

It's still insane to me that they locked Arkham Asylum's framerate to 45 FPS.  What were they thinking?

They were probably thinking at the time "Oh who gives a shit. Let's just hope a few years from now Microsoft do the work for us. Also you see that Game of Thrones show? Man, I'm sure that show is going to have one hell of an ending and I got so many out of country vacation plans in Spring 2020 that nothing is going to stop it!"
