• You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
• Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
  On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
• On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold. Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

What is this?

Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :

1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.

The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

Brutal. I have few FH5 achievements left.

I did it all yesterday with Guilty Gear. I've never played it before so the tutorial, customizing an online avatar, and playing an offline vs cpu match popped all three in about 8 minutes and they counted for the card.

So apparently Xbox is still very hands off with Bethesda and had almost nothing to do with Redfall other than helping with marketing, saying no PS5 and putting it (naturally) on Game Pass day one. Zeni decided to push it out now at $70 most likely because they want to move on to better things rather then waste any more resources on a game that was probably always beyond the abilities of the team. Microsoft probably should have at the very least told them that it shouldn't be priced higher than $40 like Hi-Fi Rush and Grounded.

I for one would rather have games that are "beyond saving" like this and Crackdown 3 still come out for some people to enjoy rather than be canceled and chucked in the bin like so many have been suggesting.

Beat me to it. Weird situation where MS is taking the fall for a company they allowed to do business how they saw fit. I can't fault them for that stance, especially since they're shouldering the risk of tarnished reputation. That's quite bold of them actually, and I personally only held Arkane responsible for the outcome as publishers only make business decisions: not bad games.

Regardless, people don't get this riled up when a movie from Netflix sucks and is a testament to how stupid and toxic first-party exclusives still are for gaming. The only reason they exist is to restrict our freedom of choice, and Sony knows it. I'm proof that my PS5 would long be gone if they didn't still have a stranglehold on Final Fantasy. If it weren't for the fact Yoshi-P is helming this next one, I'd be done with the franchise and move on.

Yeah, I came to Squadrons as a big fan of the old Rogue Squadron games on N64 and GameCube, and I feel the same way. It feels like it was meant for the X-Wing vs TIE Fighter crowd from the PC rather than the console fans.

The problem is that, as the mouthpiece for a major brand and corporation, what he meant doesn't really matter because what Phil wants and what gamers want are not even remotely the same thing. The real context for gamers is where things currently stand with Microsoft's 1st-party offerings and what kind of value has been offered by their current consoles. It's easy to interpret what Phil said as "great games don't matter" when Microsoft has spent tens of billions of dollars acquiring big studios yet it's been years--maybe a decade now--since they've had anything approaching a consistent run of quality 1st-party titles.

I think a good question to ask about Microsoft's intentions right now is: what is more important, being third place in the console race or wrapping up the Activision deal and getting all that content on GamePass? As crazy as it sounds Phil's interview almost seems like the first step towards MS giving up the console race if that would help get this deal to go through and they can just keep selling GamePass on every other device known to man (a small first step since this would still take years but a first step nonetheless). And I don't think MS feels like it needs great 1st party games to keep selling GamePass, it just wants tons of known IPs and content, content, content.

Personally I think Phil is wrong on that point. If they kept putting out banger after banger consistently they would eventually draw more people to the platform. Not necessarily pull them away from Sony or Nintendo, but at least get more people that would stick with them or make them the "second console" choice. They just haven't been in that position in a long time, basically they managed this from 360 launch until maybe 2010 or 2011.

Really he shouldn't even be talking about this scenario, it's so far away it's not even funny. Sony and Nintendo have managed to get where they are by building up talent for decades. This has simply not been the case at Microsoft. It is probably the best choice to pivot to quality services, but that doesn't mean dialing down the efforts to get the games in order. I'd much rather they go back to the drawing board on projects than shitting out half baked junk like Redfall or Infinite.

Counter point to Phil Spencer, I had never owned a PlayStation until recently. Finally on the PS5 with it being backwards compatible I felt like there was enough exclusive PS4 and PS5 games to justify buying a PS5 on top of already owning a Xbox One, Xbox One X, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X oh and 3 Nintendo Switches, so yeah maybe they won't give up the PS5 to come to Xbox, but if the Xbox has enough great games, people will pick up a Series S or X to play them like I did with the PS5.

I even have one friend who is a avid PS5 gamer who just recently grabbed a Series S because he wants to be ready for Starfield to launch because he loved Fallout and Skyrim.

I Straight up don't think any of those people exist or not enough to buy an XBox console and make a difference. Conker games have never been huge sellers and I think sales wise, leans more towards a flop than an actual hit with both releases. Even then I don't think there are people who want "mature based" platformers and just only have a Switch. As for Banjo, it's been like what? 15 Years since he had a game. Consoles aren't exactly lacking in character platformers, especially on the Switch. Like I think you'll get a good rush of nostalgia if you were to announce one, but we're nearing 25 friggin years since the release of Banjo Tooie. I Just don't see enough people giving a shit to buy an XBox and subscribe or buy a game to relive those memories.

I play my Xbox more than my pc or switch and my ps3 and ps4 have literal cobwebs on them, but there is no denying they let their IPs languish while Sony thrived off theirs.

They own some of the greatest ip and they just let it linger, like there aren’t many passionate producers eager to make a new Perfect Dark, a game that is approaching 20 years since the last entry. And despite it selling millions of copies with fan interest, there is barely anything known about the game beyond its development issues.

I've been mainly Xbox for a while and I am still mainly Xbox, but I don't really play any of the AAA exclusives aside from dabbling in Halo and Gears occasionally. I'm here because most of my friends are Xbox and while Discord has made it much easier to expand beyond this platform some of my friends will probably never explore it.

Sure, but that just means don't give it a massive AAA budget. People do buy platformers they just aren't at the top of the mountain anymore. Give it to a midsized team at most, AA budget.

The 2TB is tempting at that price but right now I’m about at half on my internal and 1TB expansion card. If I bought it, I bet they’d come out with bigger storage within a year. If Microsoft had them regularly in stock, I’d probably go ahead and cash in rewards points and get it though.

It's definitely starting to feel like all of the good will and optimism from 2-3 years ago with Phil acknowledging the need for exclusives and buying up studios is starting to feel stagnant. I still think the Series X is the nicest hardware I've ever used and Game Pass is a third party and indie goldmine, but now that Sony has essentially committed to that model after dragging their feet on it forever, it's not the competitive edge it used to be. I'm actually on the verge of buying a PS5 for FF16 and PS Plus Extra is helping justify that decision.

TBH, a Banjo-Kazooie remake in 4k with modern controls could make a lot of people happy if they did it right. Between Breath of the Wild's roaming / exploration and Ratchet and Clank keeping up with the times, there are a lot of examples of 3D platforming done right. Even Sonic Frontiers and Kirby have made the transition into modern 3D platformer pretty well.

I own both a Series X and a PS5 and still play my X more. It’s not even a close contest. Sony really only has one type of game for their exclusives - the third person adventure game - and honestly they’ve become boring. Still play more multiplatform games than anything else and my Series X is definitely where I prefer to play those.

Anyway, still a lot of good exclusive games coming on Series X as well. Not going to let one bad game ruin my outlook.

PS Plus Extra is better than I thought it would be but truth is 95% of the games on it I’ve either played or have no desire to play. GamePass is still giving me great games on Day One like Hi-Fi Rush, Monster Hunter Rise, Wo Long, etc. Extra doesn’t.

I don’t care that Wo Long wasn’t an exclusive. I’m just glad I got to play it day one without paying $60 for it.
