• You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
• Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
  On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
• On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold. Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

What is this?

Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :

1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.

The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

Been keeping my GPU topped off at the 3yr mark via Microsoft Rewards. I wonder how they'll adjust the Rewards. As long as I can keep using Rewards to pay for GPU I'm happy

Is your goal to continue paying "nothing" out of pocket for Game Pass? Do you have a wife you have a hard time convincing that it's better to spend a lot of money up front to save big in the end? If either are true, carry on!

I just feel it's a lot better to do the 3 year conversion while it's still available because it's not going to last. Yes, it is $80-100 up front so that is a bit of a pill to swallow. I don't see any advantages in topping off your Game Pass via Rewards unless you think the Rewards pricing is going to go up and/or you want to keep taking advantage of the auto-redeem discount. At this point, I think you can just keep topping off because I personally don't think the 1:1 conversion is going to last another 3 years.

I'm in the January 2025 camp right now. I still think the safest bet is redeeming 3 month codes from cdkeys and eneba when they go on sale. They can often be had for less than $10 and convert to 50 days of GPU. Between those and MS Rewards I try and keep myself at least a few years out. I do play a lot of non-online games though, so having an active GPU subscription is probably too high a priority for me considering how hefty my owned games backlog is

If the car pack was something nice, like BttF cars or something of the sort I would have likely paid and just been a little annoyed that it was not included with the Premium version.

Imagine them doing that same thing for FH3, with the Hoonigan cars. And then make achievements that can only be won with those DLC cars. And then they stop selling the DLC after a few years. Could be worse I guess?

All this tells me is that you don't know the grace and power that Queen Sigma has made available to us. I have a character with ~1700 eggs to his name and I still like using her more.

I recently revived my PS3 and put one terabyte solid state hard drive in it. It's really hard to find PS3 controllers in good condition, the wingman EX3 adapter is a total game changer. Can you use any Bluetooth controller almost, including modern Xbox controllers and PS4 and PS5 controllers. They make them for Xbox as well and they are only about $40.

There are a few games in my backlog I want to revisit and this is basically made that possible.

No, not if you don't mind the less favorable conversion rate. 3 months of Gold converts to 50 days of GPU. The recent deals from CDkeys and Eneba means that you'd pay about $5/month if you already have GPU.

No the real reason is to be able to 1:1 convert any XBLG and GP and GP for PC and EA Access sub time to GPU. This is cheaper than just topping off GPU.

The reason to wait until expiration is if you were close enough to expiration, then of course you want the better conversion rate. A year of Gold was like $32-36, so that averages just $3/month. But that might go away in the future, so you can top off now if you'd rather not risk it.

The extra month from auto-renew is not reliable. No one should hold off for that.

Yeah, I'm going to go ahead and top off my GPU now.  $31.27 for 12 months of gold (200 days of GPU) on Eneba right now (after service fee / GoldenSummer coupon), so about $4.69 per 30 days of GPU (technically less after 3% back from PayPal CC).  Not as good as the 1:1 conversion, but I'm far enough away that I'm just going to take a good deal now instead of waiting for a great deal that may not be around later.

Used 13 3 month codes to extend to 6/26 - didn't get any auto renew free month offers.

They said the car pass would count toward X car packs, they delivered X car packs and never said there wouldn't be more. FH3 and FH4 had extra packs after the car pass, too (like the mentioned Hoonigan), and people griped they weren't covered. Borderlands 2 Season Pass owners getting Krieg and, IIRC, the first Ultimate Vault Hunter upgrade was the exception. Gaige, UVH 2 and the holiday DLCs weren't added, which, again, some people griped about.

I was a little peeved that I couldn't select those cars for custom routes to get pictures of them. Found a couple custom routes at the Festival Drag Strip that had them (Lotus - 154 651 759, others - 147 910 604, need an S2 2017 Acura NSX). Just need the 2 new variations of Alejandra's flatbed. Was funny, the update release notes said that they fixed the bug with the empty pic copy of the truck in the Promo menu, then had to retract that when people (including me) posted that it was still there.

Some oddities related to Rewards quests. The Rewards weekly set has checked off 3/3 on the Search on Bing activity even though it's only the second day. App launcher is still 2/3. Not the first time I've seen that. And the Crash Team Rumble trailer didn't have the YouTube app nag me about logging in or being a guest, just went right to the video. Hope that continues.

I think the only FH5 car I've missed is the recent Sierra one that required 160 series points.  I've only been doing the minimum 20 points per week to get the season exclusives.  I don't mind them releasing a car pack once in a while considering the amount of new content they give us for free.

Sharing a Dell experience for anybody considering something similar:

I saw they had the Seagate Series X|S expansion cards in stock, but at regular price.  Best Buy has them on sale right now.

Over the weekend I chatted with a rep and asked to price match, they said I couldn't do the 1TB one because it was "Low in stock" (currently says "temporarily Out of Stock") and their price match policy doesn;t cover Low Stock items.  But I could do the 2TB version.  So I provided the links to the dell item and BBY item, and they emailed me a purchase order.  Clicked the link in the email, went through the checkout on Dell's site (using my rewards dollars to cover a chunk of the cost and paying the rest on credit card) and as of today I have the 2TB expansion card.

It was then and is now a valid gripe for people to have. Just because it is something that these companies started doing does not make it right. If they planned to have additional car packs that should have been mentioned in the season pass/Premium version of this game so we at least knew before hand.

Same here. With FFXVI coming out today I was considering if I should try to stop bothering getting every car in FH5. It is only an hour or so but I usually only have about an hour per day to game. I did not want to lose a day of FFXVI just to unlock the new cars in FH5 and make sure I have every car. This makes that decision much easier.

I'm not sure if this is the case for you but sometimes I have trouble connecting to Xbox Live on 360 even though it's fine on XSS. I would have to spam "Connect to Xbox Live" multiple times until it works. Doesn't very happen very often but enough for me to get annoyed.

As a huge Fallout fan, I felt so burnt when Fallout 76 came out and it was a flat out unacceptable product.

I recently decide to go back, and I have been impressed at how good it is now. It's not Fallout New Vegas or even Fallout 4; it's really it's own thing. There have been several story expansions, along with them constantly adding quests and events in the world. The loop of questing and getting stuff to better build out your base is a lot of fun. I'm not really aware of any other RPG/online coop/base building games that scratch the same itch. It's far from a perfect game, but I certainly recommend checking it out if you have any interest. The community is also so nice. If you decide to play, don't be surprised if a random level 1000 shows up and dumps a bunch of supplies and building plans for you.

One warning though, some of the early quests can be a bit repetitive. I recommend trying to get to the stuff with voice acting and NPCs ASAP as those are the interesting quests.

At least the Marvel games were essentially second-party developments and Sony was heavily involved in the funding and development process. Now that Sony owns Insomniac, they are first party titles, and are high quality as hell. Honestly they are perfect examples of what an exclusive should be.

FF7R and FF16 though? Giant sacks of money to undermine the competition. The official Xbox Germany Twitter account even posted about FF7R shortly before the exclusivity window was supposed to end and then quickly deleted it.

So in short, I hate it and I want it to end...unless Major Nelson jumps a railing and roundhouse kicks someone in the face.

So my plan was to play some smaller indie titles, then move onto Nier Automata since I had just finished Far Cry 3. I knocked out Hoa and Adios, tried some Gamepass stuff and some other small titles and then put a little time into Nier, but then completely played through FC3 Blood Dragon Classic because I'm weak.

Hoa was nice. It is gorgeous and the puzzles were simple (and kind of repetitive at first) but things really picked up by the end. Only took an hour or two to finish.

Adios was interesting. Just enough story trickled out to make me want to see it through. Mopping up achievements was a breeze with the scene select. More of a walking simulator than anything. Only took an hour or so to complete. It's weird how shocking the ending is even though you expect it the whole game.

Blood Dragon was incredible. I love the sheer electric neon 80's-ness of the whole thing - all of the little nods and easter eggs and horrible dialogue. It's brilliant! Plus, the blood dragons terrified me until close to end game when, even though it drained my supplies, I could handle one face-to-face. I was crying tears of laughter and joy when I listened to the B.A.D.A.S.S. talking near the end.

I also started UnMetal which was something I've seen but didn't try until I found a stupid cheap Gameflip code. It's basically Metal Gear with Blood Dragon humor. NES stealth with 80's parody vibes. It's very good so far and more than worth the buck or so I spent on it.

All of this 80's stuff is making me hungry for Kung Fury 2. Can't wait.

Finally, Nier Automata. I played through the opening which was great and made my way into the open world city area, aaannnddd it felt like the whole groove disappeared. Does it get better? I mean, I know it's a convoluted story with multiple playthroughs and endings and all of that, but at what point does it sink it's hooks in? I'll give it a little while longer but I'm wondering if it just isn't for me. It might end up in the regret purchase pile.

You don't play Yoko Taro games to have fun, you play it to get depressed and occasionally a heiny will show up.

As a huge Fallout fan, I felt so burnt when Fallout 76 came out and it was a flat out unacceptable product.

I recently decide to go back, and I have been impressed at how good it is now. It's not Fallout New Vegas or even Fallout 4; it's really it's own thing. There have been several story expansions, along with them constantly adding quests and events in the world. The loop of questing and getting stuff to better build out your base is a lot of fun. I'm not really aware of any other RPG/online coop/base building games that scratch the same itch. It's far from a perfect game, but I certainly recommend checking it out if you have any interest. The community is also so nice. If you decide to play, don't be surprised if a random level 1000 shows up and dumps a bunch of supplies and building plans for you.

One warning though, some of the early quests can be a bit repetitive. I recommend trying to get to the stuff with voice acting and NPCs ASAP as those are the interesting quests.

My son is a huge Fallout fan but seems deeply disappointed in Fallout 76 because of their monthly subscription option which he references as mostly a cash grab. How important is the subscription to get full enjoyment out of the game?
