• You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
• Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
  On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.

What is this?

Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :

1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.

The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

If you go to filter options at GameFlip, there’s also a field for delivery and the drop down has “Automatic Delivery” as an option. That way you’ll only see games that have it.

I don’t usually restrict to automatic but will favor it over others for the same game if it’s around the same price.

I'm not. Been mulling just buying some stuff, but can hold out until my auto redeem credit gets close to expiring. After getting that delisting Warhammer game last week and Gato Roboto this week (never finished it before it left Game Pass), I don't have any credit expiring until the end of November ($6.06). I'm thinking of starting with Meteos Wars. I enjoyed the version on the DS, though I'm not sure that will play as well with a controller vs. a touch screen.

Have you tried the demo for Meteos Wars? That's one I thought about getting too, but the demo was not fun for me. I liked the DS version too.

I beat Chapter 1 of Trek to Yomi and...I think I'm going to pass on this. As much as I like the presentation, I'm not digging the repetitiveness. I tried to play it on the hardest difficulty at first and it was way too brutal. Putting it on easy mode was much better but I feel like I'm just on autopilot. 

Going to try to evade taxes with Turnip Boy before it leaves. Unfortunately, I still need to do my SoCal taxes this weekend

Finished up Legend of Tianding.  Pretty solid game.  Got some Lupin and Comix Zone vibes from it.  I'm pretty sure I have Trek to Yomi from PS+ so not going to bother playing it on GP.  I finally finished MK11 Aftermath story mode before completing the MK1 story mode (had to beat it to unlock the last character).  I appreciate that you can delete the story mode from both games to save space.

Next up is The Quarry before it leaves PS+ next week.

I Mean they're technically all valid (the means of using a VPN to get it from foreign country into your US account I guess is the gray area), but if you're talking you want to buy US codes from there then you just need to link your Google account or whatever and put cash into your account from it and that's it really. Though really Gameflip was just a great means to get cheap games from a foreign country and using a VPN to put it into your account. Their US region based deals are "eh".

Basically just so I can clarify if there's any confusion, buying the foreign codes from Gameflip isn't a problem, it's more you need the VPN to change the region of where you got the codes from so you can put them in your US XBox account. After that you can switch the region back to US and you should have the game in your account.

Though yeah even with the shut down on gifting, there are still some cheap, cheap codes up on Gameflip to be found as of when I did some "clear out what's left of my wallet" purchases.

Man reviews are all over the place on this one. Looks like a good game that is suffering from performance issues. Sounds like a game that will improve after a few patches. The dev team was something like 400+ strong so I'm expecting an ambitious game here.

Good call and sad to see. I could understand if it was in store only, but am surprised to see it seemingly being across the board. They called out the flaws like enemy variety and auto-lock being atrocious (I try to avoid using auto-lock if I can help it anyway), but otherwise extremely solid game and larger than a game like Dark Souls was. Still not sure how much I'll like the lantern gimmick but considering I'm getting a double-feature of Souls games this October, I can't complain. Apparently goes live midnight in your time zone, but maybe I can get the clock trick to work when I check later tonight.

I don't think this is the end of Physical Media. Walmart is still huge with Movies, Target still has a decent section and then there is Amazon.

The reason I said this is from looking at what else we know is on the horizon. The digital console and next-gen plans that were in the Xbox FTC. The fact that some streaming shows have skipped any home release. The big one for me is Disney stopping physical releases in Australia. They are a big power in the physical space.

Target and Walmart are basically the ONLY retail chains that have physical video sections anymore, even stuff like FYE has already given up.

I rarely went into a Best Buy store anymore but did buy some of their exclusive steelbook releases, particularly for 4K movies. It wouldn’t have bothered me if they stopped selling just in-store. But killing it online hurts a bit - not so much for video games but for the 4K movies I collect.

Yes, but they were always vastly overpriced. $5 premium for a steelbook is all i''m willing to bump. The $15-20 they frequently asked was hilarious. Wuold you like to pay $15 or $35 for the new John Wick?

I don’t know the details for the card but I’ll be sticking with 20% off gift cards from Costco.
