You guys aren't seeing the big enough picture here.
Voice chat doesn't work in MMO's, and even when it does, it only works when you have a small concentrated group of maybe 10 - 20 people chatting with each other, say for instance a guild. It doesn't work when you have 100 - 200 people all in the same place yelling at each other.
Having this keyboard, an *official* MS keyboard attachment thingy, is the first step in trying to lure over some MMO's on the 360... think World of Warcraft. If MS could get World of Warcraft on the 360, imagine how huge that would be for Microsoft.
And it's been proven that a good solid MMO means serious $$$, and the rumors have been around forever that MS is trying to get WoW on the 360.
Roufuss, I think you are dead on. Hasn't the new Conan MMO already been announced for 360? If so, of course people are going to want a handy keyboard.
I think there is a bigger picture here actually, expanding on what Roufuss said. I think, since this is an official MS product, it will be possible, in the future, for games to support it for game functionality. Let me explain.
We will never see this thing required by any game, of course. But I can see some RPG's like Mass Effect or Oblivion releasing patches that gives you the menu option to map commands and functions to buttons on the keyboard. Why wouldn't they? It would be relatively easy to add to any game.
