The article implies that developers have the option to turn off Kinect completely. Thus, gesture and visual recognition won't work in these instances until you go back to the home screen but voice commands wills still work.I don't really use the One Guide but probably will more when the twitter stuff gets added.
Just read that with Microsoft letting developers essentially use the Kinect's 10% GPU pull has already led to Bungie getting Destiny to run exactly how it runs on the PS4.
Some confusion as to if that then "deactivates" your Kinect. They say you can still say "Xbox record that" and it will still work but then in the same article say sometimes the game will use all the system GPU and that'll make Kinect not hear you?
I'm not totally sure if I'm understanding it correctly.
From IGN Article: "If a studio wants to go ahead and create a title in which Kinect plays no part, then gesture controls and visual recognition will be suspended while the game runs. Once it's minimized, however, it's business as usual."
That's because Mattrick and Co never envisioned a version of X1 without Kinect. It's apparent they had a totally different vision for the console and all their decisions (dare I say mistakes) have become massive hurdles that Spencer and Co are trying to overcome.Just goes to show again that they should have just built a microphone into the front of the X1 for all the voice command stuff and left the camera totally optional for people who wanted to use gestures or play Dance Central/Kinect Sports type games that require the motion sensor stuff.
People seem to love the voice command stuff, but a much smaller number use the gestures or care about games like Kinect Sports as the motion control gaming fad has largely passed it seems.
Good, maybe this will stop the stupid resolution issue that people can't tell anyways because they're human beings and not cyborgs... yet.Just read that with Microsoft letting developers essentially use the Kinect's 10% GPU pull has already led to Bungie getting Destiny to run exactly how it runs on the PS4.
While true, even the initial reveal that was focused so much on the TV/media features mainly highlighted all the voice command stuff and not that much of the gestures or motion control gaming. That's because Mattrick and Co never envisioned a version of X1 without Kinect. It's like you haven't been around here for a while... Microsoft made the first Kinect as an add on for the Xbox 360, then later bundling it with the systems. The development for the Kinect was splintered due to this so they decided to include the next Kinect, a device that's ten times better than the first iteration imo (like first gen iPod relation), with each system they sell so developers using the Kinect know the exact number of people using the device. While true, even the initial reveal that was focused so much on the TV/media features mainly highlighted all the voice command stuff and not that much of the gestures or motion control gaming.
I guess they just wrongly thought the motion control fad was still stronger and that they could get a lot of the Wii Sports/Wii Fit crowd since the Wii U wasn't selling well. Otherwise, no reason to force in the camera, vs. just building a mic into the console for all the voice command stuff.
bad idea. here's a few reasons.Just goes to show again that they should have just built a microphone into the front of the X1 for all the voice command stuff and left the camera totally optional
I'm using this. It's working great so far.
Seagate Expansion 3TB Desktop External Hard Drive USB 3.0
Also using a Seagate 3TB myself. I recommend looking at these and choosing the storage size you want.

Thank you. Appreciate the feedback.Using the Seagate 3 TB Backup Plus. It's externally powered, but works (and looks) amazingly well.
From the sounds of things it will be more like the old Halo with some new things sprinkled in. I liked the old school Halo and the new ways of Halo. Just hope the dedicated servers do a good job as they say they will. Everyone knows that was one of Halo's biggest problems, the standbying. I guess we will find out December 27th what they have done with the last couple of years.if halo 5 is anything like halo 4 no thanks
Comes out at the end of 2015.What about Halo 5?
Yep, Andrzej Sapkowski authored quite a few books and short stories. There is a 5-book Dark Horse comic mini-series about to wrap up. Heck, there's even an old TV show (in Polish, with English subs) - and a previous game from a different developer, that never saw the light of day.Kylearan,
Ohh I didn't know they had Witcher books. I still need to finish 2, on summer drought list, do you recommend reading them before I finish The Witcher 2 or should I save them for in-between 2 and 3?
I'm scared to read the third book knowing that the new translator got all the names wrong and is by popular accounts a much worse writer than the previous translator(s).Definitely looking forward to Witcher 3. That game will probably keep me entertained for Skyrim amount of time.
Have read two of the books as well, starting a third - which has increased my enjoyment of the games immeasurably.
it's possible but i got message yesterday saying it's coming in next couple days so not sure if i already got july update or what.Is this a beta thing u guys are having issues with?
Shortcuts for Commands / Features
Adding the ability to create shortcuts/macros in Smartglass.
Examples:
-"Xbox, Record That" via a shortcut key in Smartglass.
-Instead of having to load up the Game DVR application to record the past x amount of time in a game, being able to create a shortcut for set intervals.
This could be used for those who do not have Kinect to quickly navigate the Xbox One. In addition, it can also streamline applications like the Game DVR so that users won't have to "pause" during a multiplayer game to record time periods that are greater than 30 seconds.
Sorry to hear your situation is changing! Is Verizon the only available ISP in the area, or just the one your parents have chosen?Yeah good idea, voted.
I'm going to find out how much not having an Internet connection is going to hamper this system by the end of this week. Unfortunately it appears I have to move back home and that's capped Internet with Verizon. Well it was fun folks. Still looking forward to Dragon Age and Sunset Overdrive.
