But they didn't ban the kid, they took his online function off because most of the online function isn't ready. They've also made it up to him, very nicely from what he has expressed. In my opinion it's just people wanting to pile on Microsoft, again.

They banned his console, not "him". He was told he would have his ban removed on the day the console launched only AFTER MS had a billion tweets and Major Nelson had to step in and promise to get the ban removed that day. If Major Nelson wasn't putting out yet another fire he would still be banned on release day.

the xbox one will support external hard drives sooner or later so the 500 gb is no problem for me. Plus i almost never play more then 1 or two games at a time .
The same reason the PS4 does, not all of the features are there. They've said already that the consoles don't ship with DRM.

Sure. Should've said 'eventually get an external drive.' I was planning on trying to go all digital, but there is no way in hell that is going to happen right away.

The real problem with external hard drives is that most people do not want one. The majority of people would prefer to have their console box and not another box. That's a problem with the Wii U also.
I'm one of the people that only plays one game at a time. That said, downloadable games always stay on my hard drive because I don't trust these guys and their abilities to ban profiles, consoles, or simply shut down services without notice.

Oh yeah man, bringing back classic titles could be good. I guess we wait and see how KI turns out. I bet if that sells like bang busters it'll have more motivation for Microsoft to continue to pick forgotten gems out of their classic gaming library. Then again this is nothing new as Nintendo has made modern games of classics - one example being Kid Icarus - for years now but Nintendo was before Microsoft so they'd naturally have more beloved IPs to choose from.

I'm all for getting some classic IPs going again. I suck at fighters so I probably won't do much with KI, but there are some other Rare games that would be fun.
What Original Xbox IPs could they bring back? Project Gotham was always fun, but I think Forza, NFS and everyone else has that covered.

Yeah before E3 and before we knew KI was coming out there was a lot of talk about bringing back beloved franchises - there have been some job postings related to this direction to show some evidence in that matter. Like he said they'll talk about those at a later event. Either at launch, which I doubt, or reveal it at the VGAs, most likely what would happen.
What they could reboot:

Banjo-Kazooie
Kameo sequel?
Perfect Dark sequel?
I'd personally wish MGS would bring back Rallisport Challenge. I had Rallisport Challenge 1 and 2 and 1 was also compatible with the 360.

People saying that they will allow you to use an external harddrive eventually for installs/etc how can you be so sure? People have been saying the same exact thing about the ps3/360 for years. And if the internal harddrive isn't replaceable what the hell happens if it breaks? You really have to send the entire unit in rather than dropping $50 on newegg?

looking forward to my 1080p COD ghosts on the xbox one....oh wait...
Yeah I don't know guys. I think I might have to stick to my guns and wait for a $400 price point. The ps4 will be getting every single game that's on both and personally for me the only exclusive that i can't live without on the xbox platform is halo. If microsoft can somehow get out a $500 bundle with halo and maybe an extra controller by this time next year I'll probably jump in. But it's really hard to justify when they only have halo,gears, and a few unknown ips as exclusives and i'm lukewarm on gears. Gears of war is really fun in co-op but if none of my friends feel like buying an xbone then it won't matter at all to me. I really think sony has the better approach this generation. Cheaper price and a very large stable of in house developers. Microsoft seems to think that exclusive dlc is good enough.

So it's likely just that they're unsure of putting out another sub-par Gears game and really killing the franchise. They need to get the next one right, and not just rush one out like they did with Judgement.

Yeah but the Ps4 has the obvious inspiration for Forza which is a very close if not better competitor. I doubt dead rising is a system seller and it's capcom so will probably end up on ps4 eventually. And the last Gears sold poorly because it wasn't a proper sequel.

I'm a big Gears of War fan but I had no interest in Judgement. I'm kind of like if Epic isn't making it I'm not interested. Really there was a time when Cliff Blesenski was away from Gears of War 3 and he came back and looked at it. He noticed many nuances that people overlooked and put his finishing touches back into the game. Many people felt the Judgement game was a series of arenas, well in your face pacing but lack of a coexisting story line and what not. It's also pretty hard to review that title up against the master series from Epic Games.
There have been a few departures of the Epic Games studio and it looks like they're like any other studio and want to do something new and fresh aside from another Gears of War game (we saw this with Bungie and Halo, Infinity Ward (now Respawn) with CoD, a few years ago). They're still working on the Minecraft inspired Fortnite but that's Epic Games Poland who's working on that. There was some talk from IGNers at E3 saying there could be a new Gears of War for next gen - they love to become the fire for a new rumor mill - but we'll see.
Currently the new IPs that MGS is working on or with are:
New Exclusive IPs:
Ryse
Sunset Overdrive
Quantum Break
Kinect Sports Rivals (well kind of like a Kinect Sports 2.0)
Project Spark

Halo 5 (still a ways out but lots of potential there since I think 343 has learned from H4)

Knack (I've heard many mixed things with this game unfortunately.)
The Order: 1886 (This could be a promising New IP, very little is known other than the premise & trailer.)
Drive Club (With GT6 releasing on PS3 in Dec, DC, which was delayed, is Sony's Forza for the PS4.)
Indie Titles: Contrast, Resogun, The Witness, Octodad - all look good.
Exclusive IPs:
Killzone Shadow Fall (graphically looks pretty impressive)
Infamous: Second Son (looks pretty good)
Deep Down (not much known on this one)
Dark Sorcerer (other than looking like a good tech demo, not a lot of info is known here either)

You missed the entire Uncharted Series, Last of Us franchise, Resistance if it ever comes back, and God of War. I'm just talking about established IPs here. Most of which came into existence during the last generation. Gears of War is the only major IP that microsoft established during the last gen. Alan Wake was great but it seems dormant. Fable 2 was good but the devs seem to be going a different driection now. Halo was an existing ip when the xbox 360 came out and was my main reason for getting one last gen. I'm saying that gamers will buy systems for established franchises and as a result may or may not end up picking up a few new IPs. I hope the new ips do well for microsoft but people don't buy systems for new ips. Forza is pretty good but Gran Turismo is very similar. And like i said dead rising 2 came out on ps3 i don't know why the new one wouldn't come out eventually on ps4. On a side note I just realized that Quantum Break is made by same people who made Alan Wake. I hope it's as good and isn't one and done like Alan Wake

Ok people do buy consoles for new IPs but it's very rare. In fact I was one of those people who bought a xbox because my friend had one and brought over halo one day. It was like the good old days of playing Goldeneye all over again. I'm not going to argue over forza vs gran turismo but can we at least agree they are in the same genre and probably the most direct competitors? In fact I will probably end up buying an xbox one just because I don't think i could live an entire generation without a halo game (my nickname is elswordo ffs which is because of something dumb i said during a halo match). And if you think sony will just let uncharted fall by the wayside you're crazy. Maybe resistance might die off because insomniac is gone i'll give you that. As far as dead rising goes has it been confirmed to at least be as good as the original rather than turning into a generic third person shooter like resident evil? Let's get this thread back on track. Forza looks brilliant,I want to try the new insomniac game, I'll give Quantum Break a chance because of the developer track record, and Titan Fall from all accounts is brilliant. Don't know if it will get the same treatment that Mass Effect did and end up on ps4 after TF2 comes out

Yeah, there's no use in any pissing matches over games. The 360 and PS3 both had solid lineups of exclusives. And pretty different lineups of exclusives. So its really just personal preference on who's first party/exclusive stuff you like more.
And a lot of wait and see for this gen since things will change a lot with Bungie and Insomniac being multiplat, Cliffy B gone from Epic etc.

(shrug) Just goes to show which platform they were targeting. By all accounts Battlefield runs better on the PS4. This close to launch, whichever console the developer was shooting for is going to perform best. With a hard deadline, they don't have enough time to insure performance across both. Just have to pick your battles. This is probably part of the reason why Ubisoft delayed Watch Dogs. A couple extra months in the oven will have it running much more smoothly across every platform.
I'm very excited for the launch of all the systems. At this point, I would say we have a really solid competition on our hands. Nintendo is bringing out some of their bigger games, and will likely have better sales. (though still not great) The 360 and PS3 are still riding high. And the XBox One and PS4 are both going to benefit from the lapse between console cycles. The early adopter crowd is ready for new tech to play with.
I think the XBox One is going to be surprisingly popular with an older audience and AV enthusiasts, while the PS4 does better for younger teen and college gamers who are more budget-minded. As usual, Nintendo will appeal to the younger pre-teen and older nostalgia demographics.
Why oh why am I cursed with loving Halo so much? I' have two top tier first person shooters and another on it's way already and the ps4 hasn't even come out yet. I for one wouldn't be too sad if halo slipped until 2015. I started a checking account with the money i was just going to waste on an extra controller for ps4 and setup direct deposit just so that the account would have enough money to cover the system when halo comes out. Edit on a side note why are people acting like $100 price difference is such a big deal? It's $500 for something if you're like me put an hour a night into for the next 5 years or so. If my math is right that's something like 1800 hours/5 years = $3.50 an hour of entertainment. That's basically giving it away

Ghost is not only mp game ps4 is having issues with. I don't mind a game being 720-900 p native if I get 60 fps non stop.

I honestly feel sorry for you guys. My brain is about to explode in anticipation for the ps4. I honestly don't think I could go another week without going insane. I feel like i should buy a case of mountain dew which is giving away xboxes stay up all night playing ps4 and trying to win an xbone.
