Xbox One - General Discussion Thread

When you think about the content, content-delivery focus, and infrastructure that Amazon has.....buying the Xbox division makes a ton of sense.  They now have a huge user installed base just waiting to have Amazon's content pushed to them.  Amazon Prime is a perfect companion to Xbox Live, maybe they'd merge somehow. 

 
I don't see them selling, when you think about it as they've been saying for some time they want to create an ecosystem where everything works together and is woven together. Not to mention if they do sell Xbox, then what happens to Xbox Music, and Xbox Video? Do they go along with the division and thus no longer exists for WP8, and Windows 8, or are they exempt from the deal.

Id assume if they wanted they would keep it and just change the name since Amazon already has Amazon video and their own music too I believe.

 
awsome video went to watch other videos of his and are pretty sweet also with cool facts. Just by watching x1 and ps4 videos you really see tech wish how big this gen was.

Some third party games news has come out.

It appears Metal Gear Solid will run 60 FPS/720p on the Xbox One, compared to 60 FPS/1080p on the PS4.

also according to an insider leaker on Twitter Watch Dogs will be 900p compared to 1080p on PS4, both versions will supposedly be 30 FPS.

Also according to that same leaker, Witcher 3 will run 720p 30FPS on Xbox One, compared to 900p 30FPS on PS4.

Finally Thief is alleged to be 900p 30FPS on Xbox One, compared to 1080p 30fps on PS4.

im more concerned that most games on either system are only 30 fps. We know that just like 360 x1 has pretty good upscall making them to 1080p on tv. yes i know 1080 upscale is not same as full 1080 p native but 30 fps will not look fantastic in native 1080 p either.

 
Why? Perfect Dark Zero ran at 30 frames. Doesn't mean it showed everything the 360 was capable of. Early games are not exactly known for their technical prowess.

Or forever? lol. But seriously, companies will have to degrade their game a bit to reach 1080p either way. What's going to be REALLY interesting is 2-3 years down the road when even the PS4 will be under powered in terms of specs compared to high end PC games.

Defenitely going to be buying some games on PS4 when I get mine, but probably a majority for X1 still. The Witcher 3 news is the most disheartening. I think it can only get worst if Destiny ends up being 720p/30fps vs 1080p/60fps.

Well I read they are doing something to the Xbox One to make it easier to achieve 1080p in the games. Over time I think they will get there.
 
MS is giving developer an extra 8% power that was reserved for kinect, but I don't see it making a huge difference. Its sad to see all these games being hugely downgraded for the One. Hopefully in a year or two it will be to the point where 1080p and 60fps is much easier to achieve. MS skimping on the power inside the box and charging $100 is still annoying though.

people at game studios already came out and said sooner or later games will be 1080 p 60 fps o xbox one it will take some time.

if you look at the specs of the system and compare it to those parts in pc that pc could run games at 60 fps at 1080 p i know systems have other things to worry about then pc but it wil hapen.

in the end it's about the games. i loved dead rishing 3 and was not great in stat numbers and titanfall is fun and looks great and can't wait for quontom break and sunset beach.

well i hope not because i read on ign recently that a game studio guy said that will do nothing. i wil say that the cloud when it comes to gameplay can be great if used right. I love playing forza 5 with ai being people that really play the game and their play style.

 
Timbo, no offense but how old are you, your spelling and grammar is horrible.

Quantum Break and Sunset Overdrive  Starting sentences with a capitalized letter just makes for better reading as well.

Again, as this was posted back in April '13, you can read about how Titanfall's engineers have utilized Microsoft's cloud infrastructure here.

well sorry if my language arts skills are not up to people expectations here i guess we all can't be large noval writers. I will admit language arts was my most hated class. Now if we would talk in say math language or computer/electronic language i would blow your socks off by how well i do at that stuff. i would never deny my spelling sucks and so does my grammar not everyone is perfect at everything in life. :/

My grammar in my posts are not always perfect but I do try to spend the extra time to make sure it's readable and comprehensible. You should try to do the same. It is a part of effective communication skills that you need to have if you want people to understand what you're trying to say on the message board and real life.

It doesn't have to be perfect but just spend an extra minute on your post. This is so we can understand what the hell you're trying to say.

Its not really about grammar but more about spelling correctly and proof reading what you say. Timbo isn't always bad with it but sometimes it a little hard to make out what he's saying. It's not like people are simply correcting the use of your and you're.

Not acting like a dick or anything. Just an honest assessment.

Yeah, typos are one thing--especially with tons of people posting from phones which increases them.  However, it's another thing entirely when posts are nearly unintelligible.  But hey, that's what the ignore user feature is for.  *shrugs*  If someone can't bother to write clearly, I can't be bothered to read their posts.

 
Striders up!  Downloading now.  This game looks so damn good and a perfect blend of fast paced arcadey goodness with that old 16 bit Sega Genesis nostalgia.

For whatever reason, the adapter is unavailable on Amazon.

 
Anyway to set up the system to auto sign you in to your profile when you turn it on? I do not have the Kinect hooked up yet if that makes a difference at all.

Hopefully this is not like the PS4 camera and stock disappears everywhere. I have some Best Buy credit to burn. I was really hoping MS would put out a nice set of 1st Part headphones like Sony, but I guess that dream is over. I'll use my old Turtle Beach with that DS processor thingy.

as of right now it's not possible and not even in the first two updates which makes no sense. seeing the auto kinect sign in don't work half the time have to be right in front of cam for it to work.

yes im going to talk to kinect late at night when i mostly watch tv/netflix. plus that remote will control the tv and cable box so will be to have one remote that does everything.

but will be honest i don't use netflix much on xbox one seeing the app is kind of garbage not sure what netflix was thinking when they made the app. The video selection is god awful compared to 360 netflix app.

Could be one more hint at a possible kinectless model I guess.  But probably nothing more than acknowledging that some people just prefer remotes.

 
It's Microsoft's way to milk $25 for a controller.  I use my Harmony One.  Sony needs to release one though, since the PS4 does not support it.

MS accessories cost too much though, the controller seems like a cheap $5 Universal remote.

$80 for a Stereo Headset

$25 for a headset adapter

 
Ah, I missed that part.

And yeah, I just use a Harmony remote too.  But not for any of my consoles since I don't do any non-gaming stuff on them (I use the streaming apps on my Bluray player--quieter and less power usage).
