I am interested in buying a 4000 Xbox Live Points card, but I am not living in the US, so my idea is make a second Silver US account. Now, is it possible to play the games I downloaded through the US Silver account on the main european Gold account ? Thanks in advance..

Anyone with a racing wheel get a letter from Microsoft stating that they would send a postage paid box that I could send my wheel in for the retrofit? Seems like a lot of hassle. Has anyone here actually experienced their wheel overheating or smoking? I haven't, but I haven't put a lot of hours of use into it either.

If I buy a new 360 and sign in with my account, can I re-download everything I bought on my previous console?

Awhile back I got a message on Live about the wheel and a web address about the problem.

I called and they told me to only use the wheel with the battery pack until I receive the new retrofit. They never said anything about sending the wheel in.

No need to send it back from what I understand. Just follow the info on this page.

After about 20 min of crazy Halo 3 multiplayer i can barely hold on to the controller due to my damn sweaty hands. Im looking for something to help me w/ this and i was wondering if those controller skins help at all. If not, whats something else i could try?

Sounds like you are REALLY Matt Youngin' it!

Yep.
Is the Friends List cap still at 100 or was it raised an update or two back?
Still at 100.

suggestions:

1. Get the sweaty hand surgery
2. Turn up the AC
3. Don't sit so close to the Xbox 360 exhaust fan vents
4. Put the controller under your t-shirt like i used to do back in the sega master system days
5. Use a light coat of baby powder every half hour or so
6. Do like the Japanese and glue the controller to your hands
7. Give up and send all your stuff to me

I did that. I submitted my information on that page awhile back. So, I just receive a letter telling me that they'll send me a postage paid box that I can send my wheel in for the retrofit. Thus, I'll have to actually mail the whole thing in to have the retrofit installed.

A friend and myself got the notice too, seems a little odd.

I've been through 6 360's and now this, whoopie!

Not quite sure where to post this, or even if it's been answered, but I've got a question regarding Xbox Live Marketplace.

About 2 weeks ago I'd been meaning to buy Castlevania and some more XBLA games, along with some demoes and maybe some videos. However, Whenever I try to go to the Marketplace tab, or try to download more games via xbla, it says "The Xbox Live Marketplace is currently offline, please check back later."

It still says that..2 weeks later.

I bought a new 360 elite right before August, and didn't have any trouble with Marketplace (as I've noticed) until about a couple weeks ago. Does anyone have a solution to this problem? Or has this happened to anyone else?

Anyone here use the xbox to watch videos? I use mines with Tversity but all my MKV files won't play subtitles  Is there anything else you fellow CAG's use to watch anime/video and or anything to help my MKV problem.

I have WIFI in my home and boy, I love it. No wires=freedom. I will get my hands on a 360 in a while. Just I'm not paying a 100 bucks for the 360 adapter. So I was wondering, could I use another wireless adapter and it work the same way (like Belkin, Netgear). If so, I will buy another one just for that. Anyway, thanks in advance

You aren't going to find anything that plugs in USB like the 360 adapter does, but you can use any wireless device that has a bridge mode. One cheap and popular model is the Linksys Wireless WGA11B-FR, another option (if you don't mind using WEP) is to get an original XBox wireless adapter.

Essentially what these do is allow you to plug the 360 into this device via a network cable then it acts as your wireless adapter.

Pretty easy to set up and cheaper than forking out the $100 for the official MS one for the 360.

Can you actually setup the original xbox wireless adapter without using the original xbox?

Hey CAGs. I had a launch 360 that, through a great deal of luck, spent a long time without ever seeing the dreaded Red Ring of Death. However, about a week or so before the release of Halo 3, my luck finally ran out and my console ate it. Right around the time I went to get my repair set up, Microsoft had messages up on service.xbox.com saying that they were performing maintenance on the service and it wouldn't be available for a few days. So I called them up, set up the repair, got my info, good to go. But though in the first day service.xbox.com did show my 360's repair status, a day or so later, a click on the info page showed "No repairs scheduled." This caused me a great deal of concern, but I got my box, mailed it in to them, confirmed that they got it and that a repair was scheduled despite the absence of info on the xbox service website. They told me I'd get my 360 back in 12 business days from the day they received it, so that would be something like October 18th or so.

Imagine my surprise, then, when I checked the mail today and found my 360! But more surprising to me was that it actually wasn't *my* 360. According to a letter included in the box, rather than repairing my 360, they sent me a new one (and a free month of Xbox Live). The manufacture date on the back confirms that it's new--made 9/24/2007 (which is more or less the day I filed my complaint). So is this nothing new and I just haven't heard about this practice? Or is MS doing something new here? Maybe this is a way to get rid of the non-Falcon non-HDMI consoles? Whatever the case, I'm happy with it, I just thought I'd share this with the community in case this is news to you people. If this is standard operating procedures, then excuse my wasting your time. Now I get to go play Halo 3!

They do this occasionally. I have seen them send refurbs and new consoles. Depends how fast you want it back. Well they are delivering my tomorrow so hopefully ill get a new one which will make it easier to sell.

This thread may get locked. Just a fyi

Wait--you got an HDMI console back? Holy smokes! Maybe there will be an upside to my 360 biting the dust! Please confirm that I'm reading your post correctly and that you got an HDMI console back.

No, I did not get an HDMI console back--by suggesting MS was getting rid of the non-HDMI consoles they had remaining I meant they were doing this by giving non-HDMI systems to people as replacements for broken systems, not by sending just trashing returned non-HDMI consoles. Sorry for the confusion.

way to give me a boner and then smash it
I am going to send my coffin back tommorow. I really hope I get an "upgraded" system back.
thats about as likely as me getting mine back wrapped in a 350Z

Ok, so I just got my 360 today, and I already transfered my Live account from my regular xbox.

My question is, if my brother creates a new Live account, can we both play Halo 3 online together on one xbox, each signed into our own accounts? And if so, how? Would I just be signed in like normal, and then he sign in once already in Halo?

I ask because Halo 2 would let us do this, and since the 360 sees me as online all the time, the only way I can figure it working is if Halo lets him sign in and keeps me in too.

My new 360's S/N has been entered into the status page of xbox.com/support.

According to this website:
http://blog.iamjay.ca/2007/03/19/your-xbox-360-serial-number/
it was made in the 40th week of this year in China! WTF? How can I be getting a 360 that was air-freighted? More likely, they have given me a "Frankenstein" 360 that is made up of broken parts from other people's machines assembled in a little town just over the border in Mexico.

Anyone have thoughts on this? Mr. Logical, did your 360 appear to be new or a refurb?

This is why you just buy a warrantee from the store you got it from.

I am happily playing on my new HDMI premium with new heatsinks and BenQ drive.

Plus, they used the $50 from the price-drop to extend my warrantee two more years.

serious?, so if I have a 20gig hard drive it could be filled? Not that i want to but I'm suprised they would let people able to fill up so many gamertags on their system. Can anyone confirm?

have you never gone to the dashboard of a xbox in target or walmart and scrolled through all of the profiles people have made?

i cant bring myself to pay 25% of the purchase price for a store warranty..thats just fucking rediculous

Thankfully, no I haven't.

Don't worry, no one looks at them. ;)

strange issue, wondering if anyone here can help.

I recently purchased the elite and then bought a separate controller with the rechargable battery and play and charge kit.

The controller worked fine at first, but now I cannot play it for very long before the lights on the controller start flashing in a counter-clockwise fashion. it still works fine for a while, but then it eventually turns off. Now i'm assuming that this is because the battery is worn out, however it will do this even after the battery has been charged for a while.

so some specific questions to help me trouble shoot this:

1. if you have a controller with a battery pack, what does it do when the charge gets low? is that what the flashing lights means?

2. what is the best way to charge the controller? When I shut down the 360 with the controller still attached it seems like it's charging (but the fans also keep running). However if I plug in the controller after the 360 has already been shut down it doesn't seem like it charges that way. Are the USB ports only active when the 360 is on?

Both controllers work fine when they have AA batteries in them. However both fail after a while with the battery pack. My guess is that the battery pack is bad, anyone know if these are covered in warranty? (it's less than 2 weeks old)... I was stupid and threw everything out after I unwrapped it.

1. The controller lights spin when the controller batterys are low. Depending on what type of batterys you use it could last up to an hour of doing that.

2.In regards to the best way, I use the play and charge. If you have your console on and controller plugged in and you then turn your console off the console will turn off but the power supply will charge the controller. The console will only charge the controller if it is either on or was charging the controller before the console was turned off. Most people think that the power station is better for charging the controller since it can charge the battery in much less time.

My guess would be that your battery have gone bad. I have had it happen where one of my rechargeable batterys doesn't work at all. You will probably just need to buy a new rechargable battery.

Thanks, that was my guess too. But since this is less than 2 weeks old I'm sure as hell not buying a new one -- this one is going back :)

I believe it cost about 6 bucks or so to send the battery to them, and then you will probably have to wait 3 weeks to get another battery back.

Asked this in my own thread, but I'm sure it won't hurt to ask here as well.

Do all Elites have the newer heatsinks? How about the chipsets? Are they more reliable generally thus far than the Premiums?

3rd 360 just died on me and it's out of warranty (E74-one red light). I thought I had just better get an Elite, but wanted to order from Amazon. I don't need to be looking for a special batch of systems if I get an Elite do I?

Well, not the best way to ask the question, but I recently purchased an Elite system, have it sitting horizontally, and so far so good. However, I've noticed the manufacturing date as 6-18-07, and started wondering if I actually got one with the newer chipset, and if I should be concerned.

Thanks,

-B
