Yet More Craigslist Stupidity!
Well he lives in Rockville so I don't blame him... those don't even look like PS2 games though.. hmm.
It must be a rockville thing... everytime I go to the r-ville pawn shop they ask $15 a piece for PS2/Xbox games, if you're lucky you can talk them down to 10.

It's gotta be a Rockville thing. Actually no I take that back, there are stupid people on Craigslist from around the country. I read an ad a month or so ago asking $300 for his used XBox (not 360) and a few games, much like the poster above. Ridiculous!

$500 for an NES Top Loader and 45 common NES games...oh wow two have the box and instructions, whoop dee doo!!!

in my opinion, the offers for the systems and some newer games aren't too terrible... of course I'm basing that on the desperation factor(ie when you need fast cash and the pawn's are only offering you @ $10 a game or GS takes another %20 off the total). That other one though, that's just sad... even if I wasn't a gamer I could pick right up on the fact that he's trying to cop valuable games for cheap. I take comfort in the fact that people who actually own those games know they're worth more than that.

i just pooped in a bag (in a bag!)

toilet is broken, finals means can't deal with fixing it right now.

been peeing in the bathtub, thought that was a new low.

this morning, though, i realized.... far to late to flee the apartment, that it was coming. already on its way. oh, god, what do i do?!?

obviously the answer was to poop in a plastic grocery bag.

impressions:
1) thank god i didn't miss the bag.
2) poop smells waaaaay worse in open air than it does in a toilet. of course, that could be the havoc that finals wreaks on my digestive system as well.
3) having like 50 thousand plastic grocery bags in a cabinet did come in handy, after all!
4) i kind of want to move out of my apartment/life now.

This could OTT, but I'm selling a Wii on Craigslist for 280. The guy texted me with an offer for 250. I said, "Nah" and then he said, "Well, Target had 9 in stock, so I got one. Good luck selling yours." I said, "What's your point? You paid 20 dollars in sales tax." Then he said I was a reseller and to grow up. He keeps calling me a child, and he keeps insisting I'm trying to get the last word, even though he started our conversation and I'm just responding to his silliness.

I can see how "Good luck selling yours" can be read as a sarcastic comment in that context. I just saw it as something a lot of people say.
Some guy wants me to teach his kid Jiu-Jitsu.. cool.. I'm gonna have to write a waiver.
You should go all Jimmy Pedro or Pedro Senior on them and tell the kids its better to snap or nap than to tap!

1st move you teach them is flying armbar and then gogoplata or just skip it and go with a flying gogoplata and immediately award them their brown!

Now some other questions:

How much are you asking or planning on being paid for this? I'm a little surprised that somone would want someone with two years experience teaching their kids. Nothing against you of course, but I would expect most parents would want a more official academy setting with a more experienced instructor.

No, I completely agree. I wasn't expecting anyone to actually want to purchase lessons from me. I just wanted to trade Kung-Fu for BJJ knowledge. I mean I think I'm pretty good.. I'm probably the best at the university class I go to.. but I'm not that good. I never even went for my blue promotion. I was thinking $20 a lesson? For like a 1.5 hour thing?

I wonder if I'll have them call me Sensei Dima.. no.. that would be weird.

You could probably bamboozle the parents pretty good. Just have them spent 1.5 hrs meditating, doing some "katas", and switch it up with some random shrimping their hips out on the ground, etc.

I say go for it. I have no idea the legal ramifications but you would definitly need to figure out those liability papers. I personally don't know how they work but God forbid one of those kids managed to snap a joint (unlikely since kids are usually flexible when real young) or something else happened.

Keep us (or at least me) updated on how this works out.

Will do! No response to my last message as of yet, we'll see what happens. I definitely like teaching the noobies at my university class so it would be fun to have a whole class to myself. I think what I would probably do is have one 1.5 hour class of grappling and one 1.5 hour class of striking each week, maybe even a third class. Only problem is my striking is pretty pathetic haha. But that's why I put the ad up in the first place.. I wanted someone to teach ME kung-fu.

As much stupidity as there is on Craigslist, there's one thing I just can't stand seeing: it's people buying the clearanced games to try to resell them. Look at that ad - it's SCIV, MGS:IV, and R&C for basically twice what they paid for at the RadioShack clearance. :bomb: I can understand trying to make a buck, but COME ON.
Same thing goes on in our trading forums..

This guy is selling the hard-to-find Nintendo 85. I wonder if it has better graphics than the 64?

http://oklahomacity.craigslist.org/tag/963793095.html

Nintendo 85 - $400
Nintendo 85 in pristine condition, 1 controller, and tons of games: $400.00. I will deal in cash only. NO OTHER FORM OF PAYMENT WILL BE ACCEPTED (i.e. PayPal, money order, personal check, Western Union, cashier check etc.) If it is a local transaction, we will meet at a location specified by me and exchange money for the game unit. I am honest & you will get what you pay for. Under no circumstances will I provide you my home address or phone number.

I am seriously considering sending this guy a reply just to get an idea what he is talking about. I would also like to see his game list. If the Nintendo 85 is what I am thinking it is, then that garage sale this summer where I bought my Nintendo 85 at for $5 is a sweet deal!!

That's about $170 cheaper than what you're asking... and that's also assuming someone would actually want all those games, and let's be real with ourselves here, no one would. You're welcome!

Unless they forgot to mention it's a 360, they will not sell that.

Little used perfect condition wired xbox controller for sale. nothing wrong with this item. I will consider trade for a regular controller or wireless. I don't like the Bengals and the unit came with it.

I can understand trading for a regular controller. But there's no way in hell anyone would pay $30 for that ugly controller.

Nintendo NES-001 Entertainment System - $100 (Tillamook)

This NES-001 working 1985 system is complete with 2 game controllers, zapper gun and adapter with cables. Has 5 games: Lee Trevino "Fighting Golf", "Golf", "Casino Kid", Konami's "Blades of Steel", and Mario Brothers "Duck Hunt". Priced individually on Nintendo's website would be about $188. Will sell all for $100 incl shipping (to US) or make offer.
503-842-8073

How is all that worth $188? EVEN if everything is boxed and complete it doesn't seem to add up.
This moron is charging for a pack-in game and expects someone to cough up $60 for it, while they could get a used one at GS for $10.

http://dayton.craigslist.org/tag/973455376.html
Heh, only when you can actually find them used at Gamestop. I usually attempt to get the Wii Sports when they are in my vicinity, but now the closet ones are 200-250 miles away.

While I agree that the $60 is rather overkill, he probably could get $50 for it on eBay considering it's new. Used copies of Wii Sports go for $30-45 on eBay as well. The people who usually buy them are ones who were gifted a used Wii that didn't come with the game. And Wii Sports is the game most new owners want to play. It could be that they are oblivious to the fact that they could get one from gamestop for $9.99 or it could be that they are 250 miles away from one that has it in stock, so spending that money isn't too bad. Of course these could also be the same people I saw bidding $30+ for Order Up on the Wii when you can buy it for $20 from amazon.
