Yet More Craigslist Stupidity!

Well he probably won't be getting any buyers from craigslist. Maybe questions, but I doubt an actual sale. With the economy the way it is, I doubt it.

Now if he was selling everything seperate, that's different. Live and Learn I always say.
My question is how does someone accumulate that many games in the first place? I mean, you could easily do it I guess by purchasing huge lots off craigslist, but wouldn't that put quite the dent in the ol' savings account??? That just seems like soooooo much money wasted in the first place.
Yeah I know. Maybe it's stolen
or he used to have a lot of cash and really liked games

Update:

him - Updated with a few pics. I took 10 pics and it covered about 70% of what is there but I could only load 4 pics

me - I'll need a full list before I consider getting the money together.
WE ALL know little kids want games that are in super minty condition...

http://lasvegas.craigslist.org/ele/1068880914.html

Lol, this says buy low, sell high, and my kids are the tools to achive this.
Here is something REAL REAL... AND I mean REAL crazy.... that ad is legit!!! I have met this guy... He really is trying to complete a collection. That's why you don't see Earthbound or Mystic Quest on there... He puts this ad up about once a month... when he finds something to trade, he usually emails me...
The only problem is that most of the games I find that are on his list are the $1.00 variety... and I ain't driving five miles to his office for $4.00.

:grouphug:

Though this lady, I guess in her 30's, was nice, I met up with her last week... she originally asked for $10 per PS1 game but I asked her to sell me $8 each instead of $10 so I succeed getting Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo and Lemmings Oh no! No more lemmings each for only $8! There's other games I also got for $8 each from her... when they go for like $20+ on ebay. Cheap, good deal.

Not sure if this was real or what but is was weird nonetheless

Real Gamers Collection - $30000 (Coon Rapids MN)

Reply to: [email protected] [Errors when replying to ads?]
Date: 2009-03-10, 5:38PM CDT

I have a true gamers collection I'm looking to unload as I have lost the need for it. I have 1,800 games ranging from atari 2600 through PS3 and Xbox 360. I have several rarities in the collection and hard to find games. I have all the systems to play these on as well except an N-Gage which I have about 6 games for. There are also about 250 Guidebooks as well. Some of the more rare games I have in this collection includes. (all of these are complete)

Tales of Destiny
Tales of Destiny 2 (sealed)
Shining force 3
Albert Odyssey
Final Fantasy 3
Chrono Trigger (super nintendo not DS version) complete
Entire Suikoden Series all complete
Persona 2, 3, and 4.
Einhander
Ergeiz
All of the Grandia Series
Marvel VS. Capcom 2 (PS2)
E.V.O Search for Eden

This list could go on and on all day and has a crazy amount of RPG's in it. More than any sane human could actually finish in a lifetime. Would be looking at 30k for the collection or for a C-5 Z06 corvette or a C-6 Corvette. Feel free to email me with questions

He actually posted pictures of the collection now. Mind you, the one entire lower shelf looks like nothing but a glut of disc only Gamestop 75% off PS1/DC/Saturn/etc/etc clearance games since it's all one big yellow jumble, but I could be horribly wrong on that.

He's supposedly including the actual systems to play the games on as well, so really while this IS still overpriced if there were alot of systems to go with the games, I'd say it'd be worth it.

Holy fuck!

I think that yellow blur on the bottom is in box N64 games. In the years I've been flipping, I've only seen one collection NEAR that large outside of a store, and a significant portion of that was DVD's.

It's alot of money, but this guy's not joking around. If he's telling the truth that there ARE a lot of RPG's, what he actually lists in the article ALONE is worth at least 1-3k, no research done (Earthbound complete worth near $200, Chrono Trigger complete not cheap, PS1/2 RPG's worth $25-50 each....) If I had it, and if the rest of the collection is on scale with what he listed...wow.
The free section is watched day and night by pathological hoarders, ebay re-sellers, and junk collectors.
God they drive me nuts - my wife runs a local freecycle, and on a rare occasion, someone posts something of value - and they just get BURIED in e-mails, sometimes even nasty ones b/c they didn't reply within an hour or two.

An old friend of mine (hadn't even known who it was right off) posted a pink RAZR cellphone and got something like 50-75 e-mails within a couple hours - one of the people e-mailed her three times saying "Why haven't you replied, blah blah blah".

And the damned sob stories - it's sad, some people are in a bad place, but you just can't believe anyone b/c others are just trying to flip on eBay - this is why I generally tell people I'm a dealer right out and let them know that if someone else offers them closer to their asking price, more power to 'em, take it. I don't want to be this kind of slime.

That and scrap flippers - fucking hate scrap flippers - begging for shit like "aluminum pool", "metal swingset" or just 'offering the free service' of removing 'large metal trash'.

Service my ass.

/\ That sentence didn't come out right.
Haha I was able to sell my Crimson DS (used but well cared for), black CycloDS, box, stylus, Hori screen protector, 2gb microSD. For $170 cash, loaded with all the games they want. I guess you call that a bad deal for them?
No no no, you don't understand. What he was commenting on were people who are selling nothing more than DVDs of burned games or downloads onto memory sticks, for $7-10 a game, or $50-100 (or more) for "complete libraries of PSP/DS games". NOT including any PSP or DS system.

These are pirates selling bootleg ROMs, hacked ISOs etc. and asking crazy money on top of it.

And the $15 hacked PSP guys. Jeeze. Half of the CL ads are those in games and toys and electronics, and the other half are for overpriced Wiis.
It pisses me off the whole $1 fad. Do you guys see that shit elsewhere on Craigslist? They always put "$1" in their listing price.

This moron did it and then said in the actual listing "will not accept $1 offers". lmao
http://albany.craigslist.org/tag/1061276337.html
LOL, I just ignore the price if it's $1 in the "asking price", knowing that they just put it there as bullshit. But sometimes, if I'm pissed or whatnot, I will email them telling them I'll pay their asking price of $1.

As for the free stuff section, hell yeah especially in a city the size of LA, don't even bother unless you're a block away and see the ad before it's posted. Anything remotely decent is gone POOF!

Scrap flippers/metal/junk collectors, LOL you should see the illegals that drive around LA in their beat up pickups overloaded with scrap metal. Going straight to the scrap yard so they can earn their $25 per load and get themselves some cerveza tecate, LOL.

Does this sound like someone selling bootlegs to anyone else?
These are full version games.

Any 30 nintendo ds games you want. Older games or new.

Selling 30 NDS Games for only $60. For the price of 2 games in the store you will get 30 (a $600 to $900 value)

Trusted ebay seller for over 10 years with feedback to prove that I am an honest person to deal with.

Write for more information on this great deal.
Wow lol Honest.. He will honestly take your money for something he "stole/pirated"

Oh and it's flagged

Post any kind of game system in the free section and put your address, in less then 3 hours you'll have a RIOT outside your house. Anything like an electronic item or old computers, the hoarders know they can re-sell it. Some guy put up a motorcycle, shit load of people wanted it, then it ended up in the bikes for sale section with a $300 price tag.

I don't mind giving stuff I don't want away, but what bugs me is when all those re-seller pricks start bugging you and harrassing you for it.

Scrap metal - There is one guy that reposts EVERY SINGLE DAY, asking for it. Of course we all know what they do after they load it up, they head straight to the yard to collect their profit.

I was told it's not worth much now because of the economy, that's bullshit. If someone keeps reposting every single day with the same ad for it, then it is worth something.

fuck I just spent the last few minutes skimming through some craigslist ads in various cities and at least half of the damn video game ads claim "goes XXX amount on ebay":hot::hot::hot: I sent quite a few of them with "sell the fucking thing on ebay then!!!!!!!!! Asshole!!!!!!!:twoguns:Gosh, I have alot of rage. There is not a single deal to be had out there guys. Ah well, I suppose I'm no better. I usually research what I'm selling before I sell too :)

And to boost the values of those complete SNES games (CT, EVO, etc.) you can buy new copies of Vegas Stakes, cut the shrink open very carefully with an exacto knife and slide the shrink onto the rares games and sell them as "Open, but still in shrink wrap." It gives a false illusion of a game being more mint than it might actually be and will net you $25 - $75 more per game.

my craigslist area is a dud too. Any vintage gaming stuff is gone before I get ahold of the person, and usually, it's way to far for me to go pickup.

I just post wanted ads now, but all I get are dooshbag responses and flakes. Cash in hand motherfucker!!!!! why waste your time emailing me with an offer, then dissapear?

Flakes are on both sides of the table....

Playstation & Games 4 Sale - $500 (Bel Air, CA)

http://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/tag/1070870753.html

o____O; Sure, there are some good games like Super Puzzler Fighter II: Turbo which I just picked up last week for only $8 but a lot of games can have gone for like $5, some lesser, none are worth more than $10. Including PS2 system console, I would say the entire bundle for $150-200...?

Overall, it's little too steep overprice, it should be more than half of his asking price. However, he did say he's willing to negotiate.

Sega Genesis

I have a hardly used Sega Genesis that works great.. It would come with the game console (obviously)2 working controllers, a bunch of games (Aladin, tennis, wheel of fortune, animaniacs, lion king, sonic 1 and 3 ( i think it might be 2??), boxing, teenage mutant ninja turtles, and few more that I cant remeber off the top of my head) also it would come with a case for all the games and all the correct original cords..I got this when I was 5 and I've played it maybe 20 times.. works great! Make me a decent offer and it's YOURS!! =)

**Yep, I emailed this douche once and claims it's all worth "150 bucks"...ha ha yea right dipshit.

And those links pretty much sum it up. Those are all the classic game listings in my area. Absolutely ridiculous. I love this thread!!!!:D

LOL greenrocks, I was going to post that one but you beat me to it! And the clown is in Bel Air too...usually in the rich areas, people are either WAAAAAAAAAY too high or WAAAAAAAAAAY too low.

IMO no video game collection is worth a corvette or 30 grand. That's just silly. I bet you could amass a larger collection for 30 grand. Also a lot of those game's values (aside for a couple of those RPG'S) have been killed by online distribution versions. IE PSN or Xbox live arcade versions. Also you don't know what condition the games are in, how complete the packaging is, or if they're all playable. They could all have disk rot for all you know.

In any case when selling that many games at once you should give someone a bulk discount or just sell them individually.

Oh Bel Air. Hmm, how dare he ask for that much of money when he lives in that area? o_X; I live in 2-story house with 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms and if I were him, I won't ask for THAT much! Like I would overprice my stuff, it's just so wrong. People gotta remember Craigslist is almost like thrifty NET store, so there's people looking at good deals!

Ten bucks says the guy will get desperate and take 10-15k at some point. If anyone was planning to start a video game store, this collection would be an instant store.

My son moved overseas a few years ago, and left a few bins that I need to get rid of. I am selling this as a lot ONLY. I know the system and games are old and hold no real value anyone so I am open to offers if my price is to high.

I think it is fake or the story at least. My parents dont describe games as complete or use NES, rather than say nintendo. Also if they think it holds no value why ask 500

I mean come on, randomly having that specific collection of games (rarest of the rare for SNES and NES?) and not a single one is crap or non-rare? And not knowing the value? Ninja please!

Boxes of clothes and games and other stuff --FREE-- (Brentwood)

Reply to: [email protected] [Errors when replying to ads?]
Date: 2009-03-13, 6:48AM PDT

I have a garage full of stuff so I need to get rid of some of it.

Couple boxes of clothes for men (polos, t-shirts, jeans)
3 boxes full of baby clothes (pants, shoes, shirts)
some womens dresses (pretty)
Several boxes of books (mostly hardback)
1 big box of old video games my son used to play. (Gray square 1985 nintendo)??? The first one I see is Booble Bubble??? Also some black and blue ones.
dog leashes (short and long)
3 old bicycles (flat tires on them)
old paintings (look intresting)

This stuff has been in my garage untouched for about 10 years.
Please come and grab this stuff. I do not have time to bring it all to the donation center.
My address is 11972 Dorothy St

I will be home around 7:15 tonight. I have the boxes in the garage and I will set them outside then.
Please dont come until 7:15.
First come first serve.
Anything left after today will simply be thrown away.

That one has to be pure bullshit...it's just too much like our own CAG typical BS ads. The misspelled rare/hard to find/in demand game (Booble Bobble, LOL), the hint toward other rarities (the black and blue NES carts)...just screaming "BOGUS".

I'm sure it will fool a TON of suckers who might actually camp out at that address all day, waiting for 7:15 to roll around, though really it is very well put together but with obvious signs that it's a bold faced lie.

Beyond the obvious BS from the games listed, the other stuff listed is also very valuable potentially - old upscale/vintage clothing, boxes of books specifically listed as "hardcover", "old paintings" (YEAH RIGHT!), old bicycles...man what a gem. That address posted is going to be mobbed today and tonight.

Yeah, those ads aren't very cleverly disguised. There are all kinds of BS ads out there. I saw one on the Wash D.C. craigslist with "some grandma cleaning out the attic" and she had a bunch of factory sealed games she bought for her grandkids, but they were never interested in playing. Games like Chrono Trigger, Earthbound, Secret of Mana, Mega Man X....you know, all the good SNES games. Oh, and it was in the free section. :)Must have been a ton of tails waggin' that day. I later saw it updated as "Sold for $5,000!!"

Here's a couple:

http://chico.craigslist.org/ele/1069676619.html

I am selling my PS2 which is in great shape.
I am offering 3 deals...
1. The PS2 which will include the 2 Wireless Controllers - $75
2. The PS2 with all 9 games(Ncaa Football 06, Madden 06, Nba Live 05, Fight Night Round 3, Enter the Matrix, Battlefield 2 Mortal Combat, NHL 06, ATV Offroad Fury 2, Medal of Honor Frontline)- $75
3. I will sell it all to you for $90
I will only take Cash and meet with you in person if we were to make a deal
E-Mail me if interested
Thanks

The first one is the PS2 -$75, the second PS2+Games for $75? Or all for $90? I don't understand, the second says it has the PS2...

i am sellling a insignia 50 inch plasma flat screen i bought it 3 months ago worked excellenty intill my radio and dvd fell on it and broke the screen and now there is cracks in the screen powers on but no picture u could have it fixed and have a nice tv call mike anytime at 530-354-3824 am asking 300 o.b.o

$300 for a broken tv? And I then I pay to have it repaired (maybe)? Why don't I just buy a NEW TV. Wow.

Also, another question: is a 20gig HD for the 360 worth $30? I see some on ebay, looks like they are more around $40. I don't have a 360 but have been planning on getting an arcade + hard drive cheap instead of a pro. Seems like a good deal. Maybe I'll offer him $20 and see what he says...

There are alot of dumbos sitting in the free section. I think of them as vultures. They harrass you and bulk spam your email until you reply with your address. "why arent you replying i want the item give it to me now blah blah blah...." Die in a fire jackass!

For shits and giggles, list your neighbors address and put "FREE PS3, come and get it - no emails, i'll leave it in a box on the porch"

watch the riot form up!

Wii fit for more then it costs in stores! ha! weird how everyone is asking $110

No, it's not my ad. I don't live in Brentwood. It's like 30 minutes away. =P
And also, I don't give my address out publicly. When it comes to deal with people from Craigslist, I always ask to meet up at a local Starbucks or other similar stores such as Coffee Beans, etc near my home or their home. But I do have 2 ads up on Craigslist, though.

OK, so weird story here...

My friend sold his Ibanez guitar to some dude through a CL post for $300 yesterday. Today, my friend finds that the guy who bought his guitar now has faked a Steve Vai autograph and is trying to resell it on CL. The funny thing is that he's now selling it for $250, when just the other day he bought it for $50 more.

There's the new listing. I kinda want to send this guy on a journey to meet no one....

There's the new listing. I kinda want to send this guy on a journey to meet no one....
Really? If it's so, then I guess the guy obviously didn't do a good job as a saleperson at all. =P

This reminds me when my dad listed our old Mac for $1000 (in the local paper). It wasn't even worth $100. There wasn't even a modem nor network port on it. I felt so bad for the people who bought it. They didn't even try to negotiate a price. They were just looking for a computer that their kid could use for school.

OT: Someone was selling a Super Nintendo Slim and I was going to buy it.... Haven't heard from him in a few days. I lost all his information and need him to contact me. If "he" is you, please PM ME. And now... back to our blatant stupidity. --------------
