Yet More Craigslist Stupidity!

People on craigslist drop communication like dead flies. They speak with you for like 10 minutes then they vanish. Makes you wonder how they act in the real world.

Same laptop I have, bought brand new, except, I don't remember it costing $465!!!!!

http://boston.craigslist.org/nwb/ele/1074389262.html

Why do people jack the price up by $100-200 on stuff likes this for more then it costs brand new w/warranty?
There are alot of dumbos sitting in the free section. I think of them as vultures. They harrass you and bulk spam your email until you reply with your address. "why arent you replying i want the item give it to me now blah blah blah...." Die in a fire jackass!

For shits and giggles, list your neighbors address and put "FREE PS3, come and get it - no emails, i'll leave it in a box on the porch"

watch the riot form up!
Be VERY careful if you do this, because you can be found liable for any damages and even face criminal prosecution if you use someone else's contact information, address, phone number, name, email addy etc. If you are going to do something like this, be sure and do so from an anonymous/untraceable location, such as a public library and using a newly created throwaway email. Not that I'm advocating that. Remember that story about someone listing that a house somewhere in Washington state was "available to be stripped completely of its contents"? Everyone who participated in stripping that house down to its bare bones, along with the person or persons that posted that ad, were criminally liable. So just be careful...

But you could always argue, if caught, that you 'mistyped' the address or phone number, lulz.

Sorry to ask again, but is $30 for a 360 20gig HD too much? Is buying an Arcade + Cheap hard drive a good route to go? I haven't looked into 360 stuff in some time; last I did I had decided to do it this way but stuff always changes.

fucking spammers...there's some God damn video game store in Little Saigon (Westminster/Garden Grove aka Garbage Grove), down in fucking ORANGE COUNTY, just spamming the hell out of the Los Angeles electronics and games sections with ads like this over and over and over:

http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lgb/ele/1071901916.html

http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/ele/1072282561.html

Any of you guys feel like calling them up and giving them hell, perhaps telling them to post their business propositions in the business section of the OC region, instead of the LA person to person classified sections? I plan on calling them from a bunch of blocked and different lines at my office this Monday to find out what they're thinking. I doubt they've gotten a single person come into their place from LA, despite the weeks of incessant spamming.

I'm seriously tempted to post an ad with their phone number saying "we trade video game systems for stray cats and dogs, call us, Little Saigon Restaurant" :D

That and the douchebags constantly posting about selling PSP and DS mods/ISOs etc. I seriously want to put an ad with their contact numbers/emails saying "I collect used dildos (I pay more for ones with fecal matter/stains still on them), please call or email me if you have any to sell or trade. I will trade brand new PSPs, DSes, Wiis PS3s etc. for them"

Oh and the guys that are asking insane prices, perhaps I can set them up on a blind date with the assclowns that are on there asking for old RPGs and willing to pay $1 each. I'll contact both, tell the high price guys that I'm willing to pay their price, get their contact info and set up a meet, then email the lowballers and tell them that I have the stuff that the highballers are selling, will sell it for $10 or whatever, and set them both up to meet and let the hilarity ensue.

There was a great post when the iPhone first came out, where a guy contacted like 20 iPhone sellers and told them he wanted their phone, and arranged to meet them all in the same place at the same time, LOL. So they all showed up, waited, then started asking each other if they were looking to buy an iPhone...

classic NES, 2 controllers, zapper, power supply, tv connectors, and a few random games. the recent trend of homosexual teenage boys wanting to be "retro" has really made these things more and more valuable. most places sell them for 50+ dollars

Oh, and desperate much? Here's yet another one I need to call and enlighten as to why the two winner DS games she's selling will never ever sell, no matter how hard she tries and how many posts she spams the board with...

Just check out the search I posted...and these aren't even ALL of her ads. Many have no doubt been flagged off...seriously, there are 8 or more PER DAY!!! Someone, please for the love of God and the common good, BUY HER 2 SHITTY DS GAMES!!! Even more amazing, these are magical DS games that can somehow be played on Gameboy Advance units!

EDIT: the ads mysteriously drop off yesterday, so either today's and yesterday's ads have been flagged off, or this spammer actually found a bigger idiot/sucker out there to buy these two steaming piles of shit!

Actually I thought about lowballing him on the xbox if its a later generation one with samsung or phillips dvd drive.

Here's how it would go: xbox $40, chip $30-$40, and hd $30-$40 just guessing the values, I'd offer him maybe $75...or I'll just flag his ad endlessly.

Sadistic Nintendo 64 Console - Free

My Nintendo 64 only turns on when it feels like it, and freezes right when you're about to win a level in games. It is mean-spirited and old, but maybe someone handy or masochistic wants it. No games are included, just the console itself.

This guy had this listed at 50, then he went to 65, now hes at 70. Well keep raising that price dude, because you aint gonna sell it anyway.

Original Final Fantasy VII. Mint condidtion, complete with case and manual. Serious inquiries only. Please contact 202 957 XXXX for details.

Yiye is it that people in this area VA/MD/DC think their shit is worth gold? I mean yeah, FFVII is an expensive game, but to ask $125 on craigslist? Geez, I bet even if he cut his price in half he would have a tough time selling. Is there something in the water over there?:D

You must be new to this thread, welcome aboard - hang here long enough and you'll realize there's something in the water everywhere.

On that note, since you brought it up, if you're interested in what else you can get for half the price of that FFVII, check out what's going on in my local CL:

Gameboy color- purple - $65

Comes with two games (titles unstated, but I can tell one is "Bug's Life", can't make out the other) and a worm light.

I thought about e-mailing them offering them $10, then I realized that it was a waste of my time b/c

A: they probably just won't bother replying
B: I'd only pay $5.

If anyone wants though, I encourage offering the $5 (or $6) they're asking for b/c the price in the listing is "obviously a typo", right?

I think it's a fair asking price. No one ever sells for what they post, they highball, you lowball, it meets a midground.

$125 is not fair at all, there are sworms of them on ebay & amazon for well under $80 with cases and manuals all in good shape. Probably "black label" editions, too. And I especially don't think anyone on craigslist will pay even half that.

Ps2, Gamecube,Original Nintendo, Gameboy - $400

Selling one original nintendo with 4 games, game boy (original in box) nintendo game cube with one game and PS2 with seven games.

fuck :bomb: All of this stuff can be obtained for way cheaper then this. Enjoy your hall of shame ticket.

The other game is one of the Donkey Kong Land games, 1 2 or 3. Probably 1.

And you're right, $10 would be pushing it. $5, a decent deal. The guy obviously meant to type $6 OR $5, not $65 :D

I've been emailing back and forth with this guy, for a few days now. He puts up these long wanted ads to buy video games and he basically writes a book in the description. Strangely he uses that same "Did your kids leave for college and leave all their old games behind?" BS line. Anyways, I decided to have a little fun messing with him.

These emails were'ent recieved back to back, took a day for each one to come in.

Me: I have earthbound boxed for super nintendo, one of the rarest snes games. make an offer

him:
is it mint or just has box?

me: boxed with manual and cartidge.

him: how much? would you trade?

me:
make cash offer

him: c
ould you send me a link to your craigslist ad? I can't find it ( did you delete it?)

me: i dont have any craigslist ad. You put up an ad and said you buy games.him: sorry we have 2 people with nes games in the title and yours doesn't show replys, how much would you like?at this point, it looks like he was on to me. Wants to know a price before he throws a catfish offer.

*continued*

me: I'm looking for offers.

him: would you be interested in trading for a copy of zelda for snes?

me: Not really, I wanted to see what people offered me for it because I don't wanna go through the hassle of ebay.

him: could you send a ball park price? 10? (10 dollars? 10 dollars?!?!?!?!?!? :bomb:)

me: is that your offer? I'm not looking for any special price.

him: would that be good? I haven't check prices, but that seems fair.

I don't have earthbound boxed, but I do know that that game goes for WAY more then 10 dollars. :whistle2:#

Here's his ad:

http://boston.craigslist.org/nos/wan/1077948505.html

Amazing, yeoldmario. I think his twin brother must live out here in Long Beach, posting very similar ads, asking "I'm not looking to get ripped off so if you're looking to rip me off, you've got the wrong guy."

Turns out his definition of "rip off" is market rate or even market rate minus 20%. Lulz

This is the original ET movie with the orignal case, in very new condition. The movie has only been watched one time. Yes, the video plays well. I am asking $50.00 since this is an original and it is a classic and it's in the original cover. You can email me at [email protected] or call me at 316-522-2907. If calling, please ask for Mary.

Funny, I seen dozens of copies of ET at the salvation army for 50 cents a piece :)

Seriously, that's like the most popular vhs movie they have at SA.
Here's his ad:

There was his ad.

I can't blame him for one little thing though - part of haggling is forcing the other party to make an offer first.

Presumably he's a strong negotiator - by lowballing, he's forcing you to make the initial offer. Or he'll walk away with it for $10 - either way, he wins.

I just wish he would stop spamming craigslist 5x a day. It gets quite annoying. Hopefully he will give up after a while unless he gets a lot of 10 dollar earthbounds.

Insanity Saga Pt 1: I have an ad up on craigslist in Vegas stating that I want to buy games and consoles. "Jackie" emails me says she has 49+ (a noob would have said "more than 50" or had an actual number) NES games, a n64, AND a NES console for $50. Problem is she lives in BFE and wants me to come to her house. I am thinking this is a setup by someone playing games. No way does someone lowball themselves to this tune. She also included the "son left these when he went away to college" line...

I will let everyone know how it goes...

That guy annoys me as well. I wanted to test out how successful posting an ad like that was so I tried. Surprising I got a pretty big response, about 6-8 people a day, including him since I pretty much ripped his language. He said that I was scamming since I copied him, wait let me did it up (good old kong4000):

"Please remove the tags, you copied our list of things that we are specifically looking for and thatmakes your ad just a scam. please remove it and there will be no hard feelings
thanks,"

It was flagged a day later probably from his multiple accounts. I didn't get any good leads, mainly people wanting to sell a n64, game cube or ps2 for $80 at least with sport games.

I'e had much more success finding listings on cl than asking for them. One guy sold me his 60gb ps3 w/ 3 controllers and 3 games and threw in his ps2 games he didn't want any more (choice titles included gow I and II, warriors, FFXII, Shadow of the Collosus, silent hill 2, etc. that are going via Ebay plus 20 additional (along with 2 of the unresponsive controllers) into gamestop for $130. Gave him $340 but the kicker is he asks if I was interested in ps1 and I said why not. He produces 2 complete FFVII's, a FFVIII and a FF Anthology that he throws in. I sell my 40gb ps3 the next day for $300.

I wouldn't believe it if I heard it too and I couldn't believe this guy had 2 FFVII lying around. Here is another two recent plunders:

Tweeter (an overpriced home electronics store here the NE) went BK and some company did an auction of all the stuff from the corporate offices. I bought a number of items sight unseen including this gem for $55 (http://www.ciabid.com/cgi-bin/mnlist...auctions4/1361). It included the crestron cable ($110 ia ebay), 2 Cen-IDOC ($350 each on ebay), an IR Learner ($205 on ebay). All in all that auction netted me $2,000.

Recently I went to buy some $5 PS2 games from craigslist. Had some nice gems like Baulder's Gate 1 and 2, GoW I and II, Okami, Champions of Norath, Champions: return to Arms, Silent Hill 4, Shadow of Collosus, Midway Games (I wanted), The Warriors. Not a bad haul for $45 if it was just that. I asked why he was getting rid of and he said no longer wants to play games. I go check out the other ps2 games he listed to just make sure there isn't anything I miss. On the top shelf there are 26 ps1 games. I ask if he's interested in selling and he's like ok, I ask how much and he replies what I think they are worth. I scan quickly and see Silent Hill so I said since he's asking $5 for PS2 I would offer $2 each for ps1. I didn't want to be choosy so I pick them all up and we settle on $85 for the PS1 and PS2 games. All are complete and minty mint. Here are the valuable ps1 games:

Clock Tower, Oddworld: Abe's Odysee, Oddworld: Abe's Exodus, Dino Crisis, Parasite Eve, Fear Effect, Resident Evil Survivor, Silent Hill, Resident Evil Directors, Metal Gear Solid, Bushido Blade, Bushido Blade 2

:bomb:motherfucker, this is more of a ebay stupidity on my part. I bid on like 10 brand newDs lites about 6 days before auction end(Polar WHite, my wife wants one and doesn't like any of the current colors)...not thinking they would go for less than $130 (after watching them for a couple weeks)....lo and behold after forgetting about bidding on them.... I won two of the fucking things. for $122 and $102. about $10 shipping/insurance for each one. Now we own 5 nntendo Ds lite! Dang it!

Thinking about posting my used polar D lite for $90 on Cl or one of the new one's for $130-$135.

:bomb:I got the $90 price for the used ds lite, because not suprisingly enough I pulled this same stunt three weeks ago and ended up with two brand new Mario Ds lite bundles:bomb:.. I posted my daughter's blue one and it sold for $90 in like an hour.

Here's a sweet deal . I think the nutcase is actually asking $75 EACH for them, because he says he will give you a better deal if you buy both. Yeah, he'll use a little lube before he bends you over...

Just the ridiculous comments he makes..."hard to find".."very unique hard to get". Time to give this dufus a call...
