Yet More Craigslist Stupidity!
Got another winner here:
Nintendo 64 with 2 Controllers & 9 Games - $70

For sale is a Nintendo 64 System with 2 Controllers, Rumble Pak, AV Cord, Power Cord and 9 Games: Rugrats in Paris The Movie, Star Wars Racer Episode I, Army Men Sarge's Heroes, Rampage World Tour, Chopper Attack, Fighter Destiny, War Gods, Twisted Edge Extreme Snowboarding & Madden 2002 Football. Everything is in Great working condition, I have checked each game to make sure that they play properly.
There is nothing really wrong with that one. That's not a horrible price, $25 for the N64 with 2 controllers and $5 for each game is probably what he figures. It probably is worth closer to $50, but hey, it's probably someone that doesn't know game values, and is just going off an honest estimate. There is much worse in this part of the country.
^ What's wrong with that one? It comes out to $7 per game (if those are titles you want) and $7 for the N64.
Well all together the games aren't even worth $7, let alone $7 each. Though I would pay $7 for the system.

If you say so. But lumping that ad together with the guy who wants $150 for a 360 HD-DVD add-on is like saying the Pittsburgh Pirates are just as good as the Los Angeles Dodgers.
^ What's wrong with that one? It comes out to $7 per game (if those are titles you want) and $7 for the N64.
Most of the games aren't worth anywhere near $7 though LOL...

It's only a matter of time before someone posts a CL ad to make fun of, saying, "Look at this idiot selling this game for $40! I can get it for $39.95!"

Or has that happened already?
It's only a matter of time before someone posts a CL ad to make fun of, saying, "Look at this idiot selling this game for $40! I can get it for $39.95!"

Perhaps not to that extreme, however we have posted incidents where games that are advertised on sale, clearanced etc. have popped up in multiple quantities for much more than the selling price. I.e. games from the $9.99 Best Buy sale, showing up the day the sale starts or shortly thereafter, sealed and seller has multiples, and is asking $30-45 each for them.

We all get what you are saying, and yes, most of the 'deals' posted in this topic are far more blatantly ridiculous than others. You also have to remember that we're CAGs, so our optimum price for an item is pennies on the dollar if not free.

But you also have to remember this is craigslist, the yard sale/flea market/shady street corner black market of the web - so no one should see a used copy of a game for sale, asking equal to or even more than what you can get it for, and a new copy at that, at virtually any store, and see that as acceptable or fairly priced. So yes, if someone posts an ad for a game that I can easily get for the same price he is asking used at any and every Gamestop, or even worse, is asking for his used copy the same (or even higher) price that a new copy goes for, then I see no problem with that ad getting posted in this topic. Though I prefer to post the really outlandish 'deals' personally, as if I posted stuff like that I could fill this topic with ads posted for only an hour in LA.

EDIT: On a side note, I can't stand fuckers that list ads linking to their ebay auctions. Keep it on eBay, fucknuts!

Hi I have an Original Nintendi (yes the 1980's model) With 2 controllers and all cords. Its in GREAT shape AND WORKS! Im sad to see it go, but I dont play with it anymore, and my daughter is ony a few months old. Email me @ [email protected] if interested.
NO SCAMS NO CHECKS NO MONEY ORDERS NO SHIPPING> ANY SPAM OR SCAM EMAILS WILL BE FORWARDED TO ATHORITIES. PRICE IS FIRM, BUT MAY BE WILLING TO TRADE FOR SOMETHING LIKE A LAPTOP.

awesome! an Orignal Nintendi and I can just trade for a laptop, sounds fair.

I always price stuff to sell and eventually someone takes it off my hands. Generally the prices should be lower because it's an as-is deal with no refunds or recourse.

If I wanted to pay retail for an item I would buy it brand new in the package at a store with a return policy.

Seriously this dude needs to go fuck himself. Prefereably with a broken bottle right up his pooper.

"Willing to negotiate on the price"...yeah, I bet. Take 90% off your asking price and you'll get some "serious buyers".

Modded 360 with 19 games+accessories - $350400 (Frederick, Maryland)

Reply to: [email protected] [Errors when replying to ads?]
Date: 2009-07-12, 7:34PM EDT

I'm looking to sell -MY- Xbox 360, It comes with the following games and accessories.

All games are Stealth Burned and work on live..All accessories work and look brand new.

1- 60GB 360 harddrive
1- Xbox 360 Wireless Controller.
1- HDMI Cable(HDMI Port on the 360)
1- AV/Component cable.
1- Power adapter for the xbox 360.
1- Halo 3(Game)
1- Call of Duty: World at War(Game)
1- Prototype(Game)
1- Fuel(Game)
1- Tiger Woods 2010 PGA World Tour(Game)
1- Kung Fu Panda(Game)
1- Battlefield Bad Company(Game)
1- Fallout 3(Game)-No expansion
1- Deadrising
1- Red Faction Guerrilla Warfare
1- Xbox 360 console(No RROD's or errors)

I am looking for $350 CASH ON PICKUP. Or trade for a home theater projector/TV/PS3. This is a AWSOME deal.

I will PERSONALLY add 10 more games of YOUR choice to this offer for an additional $60. So thats $410 + All popular online games + games of your choice!

Again, I'm only interested in the following.

1- $350 cash on pickup
2- Playstation 3 with a controller and all neccesary hookups(atleast)
3- Home Theater Projector with low hours used and fully functional + screen.
4- Decently sized Television that is fully functional.

I am NOT willing to negotiate on price. This is a insane deal, All these games retail at roughly $40-$60 per game, AND work online. I am ALSO able to add 10 games of YOUR choice. Which is taking time out of my day to get.

Please do not hesitate to contact me via email "[email protected]"...I am CONSTANTLY refreshing my email so i will respond as soon as possible unless i am sleeping

He even gets a little snarky at the end... all of that stealth burning is taking up so much of his clearly precious time. This is just one variation of his posts too, he just recently posted another one where he ups the price of adding "any game you want" for only a paltry $25 a game!

Part of me wants to bombared him with emails asking if he can install Little Big Planet/Metal Gear etc/Resistance etc or maybe haggle the price down 400 bucks to an even $350,000, part of me also wants to send him an email telling him to cut the crap or I'll report him... of course part of me wants to just outright report him anyways. Maybe I'll do all three.

Sega Saturn - $350

Japanese Sega Genesis - $500

http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/vgm/1272109482.html

and finally, today's winner is...............

N64 games - must take all $65 OBO

N64 games, all working condition.

- Mario 64
- Mario Kart 64
- Bomberman 64
- Road Rash 64 (rare, paide over $20 a year ago) (yeah, like anybody gives a shit what you paid)
- Worms Armageddon (rare)
- Duke Nukem
- WCW vs NWO
- WWF Warzone
- Mario Party
- Blast Corps
- Extreme G
- Wave Race

http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/vgm/1271314824.html

I'm guessing this person checked for the highest priced copies of these on ebay and based them off those.

You know, while many of these CL ads are absurd, I understand some of them. Not selling a $10 game for $100, but more along the lines of seeing if you can get $30 for a $20 game or something like that. CL is free, so you don't lose anything other than time. Sometimes the best thing to do is to see if anyone else on your local CL is selling what you're selling, and just sell yours for slightly less even if it's still overpriced.

A guy about 4 hours from me posted on craigslist an ad for a HD DVD addon for the 360 for 100. He then went to 70 a few days later, and I emailed him saying $40 (he had some dvd's that came with it). He said he couldn't go lower then 60, and I said no thanks. It's now listed at 40 (about three days after I first emailed him lol).

What are you talking about... worms is worth about $40 alone. There's $100, possibly a bit more worth of games there in ebay terms, and they're even throwing up an OBO

Yeah that's not bad considering what you mentioned, you really messed that up Ye0ldmario even before I noticed Worms in the bunch I was scratching my head trying to figure what made that N64 bundle look that bad especially since it was a way better deal then the two you mentioned before it

Not game related.... but I was looking to get off a few Chiefs tickets... You thought game resellers were the scum of the earth??? Well, look at this scumbag, obvious reselling troll... who is even pimping out (if the "story" is to be believed) his/or someone else's unborn child...

http://kansascity.craigslist.org/tix/1271149898.html

I'm looking for 2 home game Chiefs tickets. I'd like something preferably on the Chiefs side and something not in the upper section (only sections in the 100's and 200's please) as I'm pregnant and it's too hard for me to walk up there and I can't breathe. Will pay cash for the right tickets (up to $100 per ticket) and looking to buy very very soon!

Please do not e-mail unless you have a valid offer and real in your hands tickets to sell.

Thanks.

if you're gonna try to buy it, be sure to do it like this: reply to his e-mail from the other day saying he couldn't go lower than $60 (keeping that reply above yours in the body of the e-mail) and say, "okay, i'll take it for $40."

first of all, eastshore4 was joking about the price, since the seller obviously meant $350-$400, but it could appear to be $350,400 (hence, the bit about the home loan). second, the creep is selling a bunch of pirated games, which, when subtracted from what's being offered, means you're paying $350-$400 for an Xbox Arcade with no extras.

so are pirated games worth that much to you, or did you not bother to read the whole thing?

This isn't as stupid as it is weird

i am looking for a xbox 360 games and more.. i am willing to trade a pitbull puppie for .. i am selling for 300 obo so xbox 360 + will do... i have 2 girls and 4 boys.... i live in manchester nh i will not ship puppie no where so please do not ask.. thank you.. if you want a pit puppie and have something worth trading you can send me a pic to my email address it is [email protected] i am willing to lower price if i need to and only if you pay a deposit on puppie... please only if you can have and take cair of puppie let me know....

Uhhhh...you do realize that ALL of the games he's selling in that XBox 360 bundle are burnt/bootleg, right?

"All games are Stealth Burned and work on live..All accessories work and look brand new."

First of all.. it's not an arcade.. it's a 60gb HDMI-enabled MODDED Xbox. In case you didn't know, it costs money to mod an Xbox. It's not free. Even if you want to do it yourself, it's still not free since you need to buy all the tools. And I don't know why you would automatically subtract the cost of all the games. Sure, the burnt games aren't worth the price of retail games, but they're not worthless either. They're worth the price of a DVD-R DL and the time/effort that went into burning/patching the games.

I know we're not supposed to talk about piracy on this site, and I'm in no way supporting it.. but that auction would definitely be considered a good deal for a lot of people.

remember that most members on these boards don't condone piracy and it'll be understandable that no one on here considers that a good deal. considering a modded Xbox can bear no warranty with MS, it's worth even less to a great many people. as for me calling it an "Arcade" system, i admit i screwed up the nomenclature -- Microsoft releases so many skus i have trouble remembering the name of each configuration. maybe it's a "Pro" system?

i'm sure the kidnapped baby of an oil czar is worth a pretty penny, but if it gets posted to Craiglist, it's still worthy of the Stupidity thread.

in this particular case, the guy's stupid for pirating it, and whoever buys it is stupid for perpetuating piracy. how do you not see the "stupidity" in that? we're not always talking about the price.

Well, I don't think there's anything stupid about it. If you think piracy is stupid, that's all good and fine but surely you must realize that it's a subjective opinion, not a universal truth. As far as the price, it's fair.

The morality of piracy is not the nagging point here... they're jacking the price up $150-200 for what? You know what, you're right, it's a great price. Wanna buy my itunes collection? $100.
Trying to sell something that's blatantly illegal is stupid.
This. I really don't understand why anyone would argue the other way on this.

This kind of upsets me so I had to post about it. If you see the pick, this guy OBVIOUSLY got the games from the $4.99 Hollywood Video sale. If he only wanted $10 each, then no big deal... but he prices them individually, some at $20 or more each + $2 shipping for each game.

Judging from the pick (and from what I've seen from going to Hollywood Videos) many of those games are often worn with those disc protectors on em, most likely not even complete, with no manual and a rental cover.

He bought 6 copies of Incredible Hulk for Wii.

I'd like to know what you smoke because it must be some really good stuff if you think you can sell your games at those prices.

lets see what I get in response.

I don't think piracy is stupid, I think paying for pirated games is stupid. And putting an ad like that on craigslist with your contact information is stupid. Who in their right mind would pay $10+ per pirated game? Hell, even $5 a game? If I wanted burnt games I'd buy a spindle and burn them myself. fuck a criminal's time and effort to burn some discs, big fucking deal. No one in their right mind should pay a premium for that.

Hell, I understand the premium for modding the system, but paying for a spindle of DVD-R's? Let alone half of full price retail for the games? Ninja please! $1-2 each, sure, if you have no clue how to find and burn your own.

I think one of the biggest mind blowing ads are those that state something along the lines of "I'm selling this for 50.00 but I will take less" or "I am selling this for 50.00 but I will take 40.00".

Why?

Just keep hoping that they don't sell a single one and get stuck with them, since HWV doesn't allow returns on used games unless defective and they only give store credit if you CAN return it.

Hell, I understand the premium for modding the system, but paying for a spindle of DVD-R's? Let alone half of full price retail for the games? Ninja please! $1-2 each, sure, if you have no clue how to find and burn your own.
Yep, I bet someone buys it though.
I think one of the biggest mind blowing ads are those that state something along the lines of "I'm selling this for 50.00 but I will take less" or "I am selling this for 50.00 but I will take 40.00".

Why?
Yeah...piss poor salesmanship. They are putting themselves behind the 8 ball and at the mercy of the buyer from the get go. I see an ad like that for something I want and think "this guy will sell it for whatever I offer..."
Well, I don't think there's anything stupid about it. If you think piracy is stupid, that's all good and fine but surely you must realize that it's a subjective opinion, not a universal truth. As far as the price, it's fair.
I have two friends that have 360s that are "hacked" and they didn't pay anything for it, I guess what I'm getting at is people in the know don't have to overpay and it would be tough to find a clueless sucker on craigslist that knows about burnt games on the 360 but is clueless and willing to overpay.

I think you underestimate how dumb some folks can be. Remember.. the average IQ is 100.

Game boy color
$65

http://kpr.craigslist.org/vgm/1274654440.html

SORRY, BUT I WILL NOT SELL INDIVIDUAL COMPONENTS--ALL OR NOTHING.

I have a like new Game Boy Color with all of the Mad Catz accessories, a Mad Catz carry case, and 7 games. The accessories are: a magnifier with screen light, household (AC) and car power adapters, two rechargable battery packs, and two multi-link cables. I am also including a Nintendo Game Boy to N64 transfer pac. The seven games I have are: Pokemon Crystal, Pokemon Red, Kirby's Dream Land, Kirby's Pinball Land, Super Mario Land II with 6 coins, Itchy & Scratchy Miniature Golf Madness, and Megaman Xtreme.

I looked up all of these items, games, etc on the internet and found that it would cost just over $200 to purchase everything USED. I will let this entire set go for the bargan price of $65. This system was hardly used as it was kept in my truck for the boys to use when they rode with me, but they rarely ever did.

If you are interested, give me a call at 509-460-8083. I'm available throughout the day.
