Your collection - post a photo - show us what'cha got!

gameboy, please post close ups of the n64 and snes games please!!!

and vt: i got the 12 holder at a garage sale(with paper mario, conker, 2 mario partys, and both gold zeldas for $20). the 24 holder i got off cuke here on CAG.

Gameboy, your collection is stunning. You've got such a fantastic variety!

But I agree with the fact your furniture (well, the sofa at least) giving me headaches.

what?!

i love his sofa!

(you should see my GC animal crossing house)

edit: looking through his pics again, ive come to the conclusion, that imho, gameboy has the best collection ive seen.

some really great stuff in there.

Awesome collection and setup. I always wanted an XBR960. Which makes me ashamed to offer any critique of something so awesome, but ... the spaghetti o' cables. :whistle2:#

Haha, most of my friends either love or hate my sofa too.
I found it @ a Salvation Army store for $100 and I just knew I had to have it!
It was the exact size I was looking for and had a pull-out bed to boot.
Once I got it home and started cleaning it, I was surprised to find out it's actually a Walter E. Smithe custom sofa. Good stuff.

And yeah, the cables are a mess right now but it's mostly because I had to pull everything out to get my PS3 free (so I could send it off for repairs....stupid YLOD!) and I haven't bothered to straighten them yet.

Anywho, here's the close-up pics:

Wii Games:
WiiGames.jpg

I left the space in the middle because I plan to pick up Mario Sports Mix and I'll probably get Mario & Sonic @ the Winter Olympics when I find it cheap.

Gamecube Games:
The smaller boxes on the bottom shelf are Japanese Gamecube games.

XBOX/XBOX 360 Games:
XBOXGames.jpg

I'm not much of an XBOX fan, but I had to get them for the SEGA and Capcom exclusives!

PS3 & PSP Games:
PS3PSPGames.jpg

My PS3 games are mocking me right now. I want to play Dead Space 2 so bad! haha

PS2 Games:
PS2Games1.jpg

PS2Games2.jpg

I'm surprised at how many PS2 games I've accumulated over the years. So much great stuff!
Most of the games in the 2nd pic are Japanese PS2 games. Notables include Pop'n Music 7-14, Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2 Final Mixes, and a bunch of JP-only games from Capcom, SEGA, and Konami.

PS1 Games:
PS1Games.jpg

Sorry for the awful pic, I couldn't really get a good picture with my TV in the way!
I have every Squaresoft game on PS1 and lots of HTF stuff like Klonoa, Tomba 1 & 2, Bust-a-Groove 1 & 2, both Castlevanias and DDR: Disney Mix.

N64 Games:
N64Games.jpg

All CIB and in great shape! :D
Bottom row has a few great imports like Sin & Punishment, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Rakugakids, Bomberman 64 (final N64 game in Japan), and Custom Robo.
Also a few 64DD games for the N64DD I hope to own someday!

Super Nintendo & Super Famicom Games:
SNESSFGames.jpg

SFGames.jpg

My favorite consoles ever!
I wish I had more Super Nintendo games, but at least most of the ones I do have are great games!
The case on top next to the CIB Earthbound is full of ultra-rare cart-only Super Famicom games like MajyuuOu (visible in the case), R2: Rendering Ranger, and Kirby Kira Kira Kids.

NES, Famicom, Famicom Disk System, and Virtual Boy games:
NESFDSVBGames.jpg

Top row has 2 adult Famicom games (Bubble Bath Babes and Mahjong) on the left and the rest are CIB NES games.
The next 2 rows are cart-only NES games and the next row is my Famicom collection (along with a Game & Watch and Donkey Kong Watch).
Below that are my Famicom Disk System games (including a copy of "All-Night Nippon Super Mario Bros."), Pokemon Mini games and the system, unlicensed NES games, and a few Super Famicom doubles.
The bottom row is my Virtual Boy collection.
I have every game released in the US except Baseball and Golf (but I have the Japanese versions of them) and 4 JP-only games.
On the far right are 2 of the Zelda CD-I games and 2 hard cases full of NES manuals.

Dreamcast, SEGA Saturn, and SEGA CD games:
DreamcastSSSCDGames.jpg

I'm pretty sure the only game I still want for any of these 3 consoles is the original House of the Dead and Guardian Heroes for Saturn.
I tracked down Burning Rangers, Clockwork Knight 2, and Panzer Dragoon Saga back in college. :)

JP Saturn, Neo Geo CD, Turbo Grafx 16, SEGA 32x, SEGA Genesis, and SEGA Master System games:
SEGAGames.jpg

Highlights include Radiant Silvergun for JP Saturn, New Adventure Island for TG16, Parasol Stars for TG16, Amazing Spider-Man: Web of Fire for 32X, and Michael Jackson's Moonwalker for Master System.

Blu-Rays and Misc stuff:
BluRays.jpg

My Blu-Ray collection. I don't buy many new movies these days but I'm a sucker for Steelbooks!
The bottom shelf has flattened JP GBA boxes on the left, and JP versions of Super Nintendo games I bought to play while living in Japan on the right side.
The box in the middle is a pachinko controller for Super Famicom.

Well, that's just about everything.
Then again...I do have some other handheld stuff (Neo Geo Pocket Color, WonderSwan, Game Gear, etc.) tucked away in boxes, so maybe I can add pics of that stuff later.

yep.

best collection yet.

so much attention paid to each console library.

i really like the snes and ps2 library most!

and SALT STEEBOOK!!!!!

I like when companies use nice spine art. For example, Dead Rising and Beautiful Katamari stick out on your shelf because they look cool as hell from the side.

those steelbooks are nice! I wish steelbook would sell the case themselves. i purchased a bunch of blus and then later they came out iwth the SB (best buy excplusives). I couldn't bring myself to pay $30 for each, esp when i already had the movie -.-

great collection!

Thanks! :)
I got REALLY lucky with the Salt Steelbook. On the day it came out, I grabbed a copy during my downtime at work and stashed it til I finished my shift. It sold out in one day!
I like when companies use nice spine art. For example, Dead Rising and Beautiful Katamari stick out on your shelf because they look cool as hell from the side.
Same here. It's sad that a lot of games have generic fonts for their spine arts these days too. Like Kirby's Epic Yarn, for example.

Yeah no kidding. I've lucked out in terms of double-dipping - the only Blu I've bought twice due to a Steelbook re-release is Resident Evil: Degeneration.
I pretty much buy all my Blu-Rays used unless they come in Steelbooks or are dirt cheap on Amazon.

Living in Japan for 5 years certainly helped me in building up my import collection!
@ Gameboy 415 - Great collection, but I'm dissappointed in you Xbox/360 stuff. Otherwise 11/10. Still 10/10 though lol
The only other XBOX games I might pick up are Fatal Frame 1 & 2, just for the extra content not in the PS2 versions.
As for 360, there are quite a few games I plan to pick up but I only have a Japanese XBOX 360 at the moment and most of the US games I want wouldn't work on it.
I actually had a LOT more Japanese games, but I sold them off in Japan because they were mostly JP versions of US games I could replace cheaply (Bioshock, Burnout, Kameo, etc.).
I'll probably get a 250GB Kinect bundle at some point and then pick up games I want like Raiden IV, Guilty Gear 2, Earth Defense Force, and Banjo & Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts.
Where did you score those DOTS figures?
I wasnt aware they made a Crono one. I have the Bubble Bobble ones.
The Crono one (and Yoshi, for that matter) are customs I whipped up myself.
I used pegs from various larger sets (like Ice Climbers) and sprite sheets to make them.
Honest question...
What do you do for a living? Are you married, single?
You have a lot of cash to burn!
Right now, I work at Best Buy (but am interviewing for better jobs) and am single.
But I made a LOT more money during my time in Japan (and had several girlfriends, for that matter!) so I was able to pick up a ton of stuff over there and during my trips home for holidays and such.
Here's the main reasons I have so much stuff:

1. Cheapassgamer.com! CAG completely changed the way I shop for games.
I used to pick up a couple games at a time at MSRP but now I've found ways to get 5-10 games for the same price!

2. I never traded in/sold anything as a kid.
I never understood why other kids would drag huge boxes of games into Funcoland and sell them for pocket change.
A smart move on my part!

3. New console transition periods.
As soon as the next-gen of a console is released, it's time to scoop up everything you want from the previous gen before they become hard-to-find/pricey!
When people were snapping up launch "gems" like Perfect Dark Zero and Genji, I was scouring stores for last gen games that were being sold for peanuts.
I'm currently doing this with DS games. ;)

I like the way you think.:)
I do regret not getting PS1 games when it was dirt cheap at Gamestop back in the day. Good luck with the interviews.

My Game Shelf
I don't really have the space to have all my games out :whistle2:(, so a lot of them (N64, Dreamcast, NES, Genesis, GameBoy, Nintendo DS, PSP, large CE's like: Halo Legendary, GTA4 Special Edition, Arkham Asylum, etc. etc. etc.) are in boxes and/or drawers around the house. I wish I had some of the huge shelves that some of you guys have, but that will have to wait until I get a bigger place. These used to be full of all my DVDs, but I decided to display some of my games instead.

collectionwh.jpg

Virtual Boy, Game.com, Tiger R-Zone
gamecomvboy.jpg

I like keeping this stuff out just because it's strange. I have the Virtual Boy, with some of the games I have for it. The remainder of the accessories/games/manuals are in the carrying case I have. I also have the Tiger R-Zone (head mounted version, which isn't pictured) and Mortal Kombat and Panzer Dragoon for that are immediately to the left of the Virtual Boy. Left of that is the Tiger Game.com. I had a portable, touch screen, dual slot gaming hand-held a good 7 years before the original Nintendo DS was ever released :D. I have the full box and instructions for the Game.com in the closet as well.

PS3 Collection
ps3cm.jpg

Wild Arms 1/2, Legend of Dragoon, MGS & VR Missions
rpgsmgs.jpg

Just some of my more favorite games.

Square Stuff
squaresoft.jpg

The SquareSoft shelf, FF7 is hiding behind Vagrant Story.

PS2/PS1/Wii Games
ps2psx1.jpg

rese.jpg

Just my PS1/PS2 and Wii games. Not to be outdone by the Squaresoft shelf, the survival horror games started forming their own area.

Xbox/Xbox 360/Blu-rays
bluxbox.jpg

xbox1.jpg

xbox2i.jpg

Most of my Xbox and Xbox 360 games. Some of my 360 games are on my desk because that's where my 360 is hooked up. My Blu-ray collection is small because I've been trying to make sure I only buy movies that I want to own... Made that decision after I've been going through my huge DVD collection and getting rid of all the movies I bought on the cheap to watch once and never watch again.

I'll start with my steelbook collection since most of my games are scattered around my room and the house.

img0542xd.jpg

img0544oe.jpg

My pride of that collection is the EndWar Steelbook signed by a couple members of the dev team. :D

First off let me say...Frickin Awesome Collection!!! I absolutely love all the boxes for all the systems and what not.

2. I never traded in/sold anything as a kid.
I never understood why other kids would drag huge boxes of games into Funcoland and sell them for pocket change.
A smart move on my part!

Second I couldn't agree with you more on the trading in of old games, I know that yeah you can get some credit for six or seven games and maybe buy one new one but forget that I say! I figure I paid what I paid for it, so I'll just keep it and keep it in my collection.

Good work man, looks great.

Thanks! :)

But yeah, about trading stuff in, it all just reeked of a scam to me as a kid and luckily I was smart enough to hold on to my games.

However, I did sell quite a few modern games (PS3/360) while I was living in Japan because import shops often bought them for more than I paid in the first place!
Stuff that could be had for $20 or less over here like Metal Gear Solid 4 and Rock Band sold for 4000yen - over 40 USD!

I was hoping to take a trip back to Japan last fall and bring a suitcase full of US games to trade in for a profit, but unfortunately I wasn't able to go.

Here's a link to the trade-in values at an import shop in Osaka if anyone's interested:

Do you track your game collection in any way? I'd love to see a list of everything you have if you have it tracked somewhere... I don't expect you to type anything up, obviously.

I used to use IGN's database back when I was a subscribing "Insider" or whatever, but the last time I updated it was in 2005.
I believe I was just over 1000 games at that point.

And this was BEFORE I got a Wii/PS3/360 and lived in Japan for 5 years.

It looks like I actually imported my IGN collection into CAG a while ago.....but I haven't updated it much.

http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/games.php?u=10220

I've been cataloging my games are IGN until their PoS website updated and broke the collection system. Everything is there, it's just that nobody's been able to add anything for months. They then added a new (significantly crappier) system which also doesn't work...

I just wish there was a way to download or import the IGN database to Excel (I'm not typing up 700 games any time soon). I tried CAG's Collection, but the viewing/organization options are too basic for a large collection...

I did it like this because I have no clue how to do it the way everyone else did.

Unfortunately many of my xbox, ps2 and 360 games have artwork, game and manual but no cases right now. You can see all the artwork and manuals in the pics though.

Wow and you could take home some famicom and super famicom and other Japanese exclusive games home. Maybe you could get enough to pay for your trip both ways -30 for red alert 3.

I'm surprised how many people have Greatest Hits all over their collection. Maybe I'm weird, but I'd rather just not have a game than have that version of it. >500 games and not a single one :D lol

Same here!

The only Greatest Hits-style game that I've bought and haven't replace with a black label/original packaging is the Pac-Man World 2/Pac-Man Vs. 2-pack on Gamecube as it was the only way to get Pac Man Vs. in a retail case.

Same here... over 300 games and not Greatest Hits / Platinum Hits / Player's Choice in my collection. Or regular edition of games that I know they have a Collector's Edition... and I also don't like Game of the Year Editions.

Just like you, I rather not have the game than have a version of GH / PH / PC...
