Zelda Breath of the Wild Special/Master Editions, Amiibo- Discussion

I really want the dx version. Probably safer to pre order now instead of waiting for it cheaper in the US. Does anyone know if they will bring both version to the US or just the regular version?

Do they charge your card immediately and not let you cancel? I think TOM was like that. I don't want to preorder something with $20 shipping if I can't cancel it.

While I really shouldn't post again... I should probably help some people out. ~_~

They charge $20 shipping, no thanks
They charge 2,000 yen, which is different. Why? Well, there are exchange rates that come into play. At the current rate it's about $17.6 to have it shipped, which isn't too bad when you consider it's EMS. Most of them offered in NA might have better shipping prices, but inflated prices.

For instance, the LoZ Majora's Mask one launched at, but it had a MSRP of 4,167 yen. This currently translates to $36.7 and with the shipping it's $54.5. The GameStop one is showing $46.99 as the original price, so you're only paying $10~ over, not including other possible things like shipping and finding it. Different ones have different rates, like I think getting Batman from Target is 1:1 and so forth, but I'm too lazy to do the math.

I'll just wait for it to be available here. All the other nendroids are readily available
So far only a few have appeared readily available at places like GameStop, Walmart and Target. Like I've seen Princess Zelda at a few places, Batman is at Target, GameStop has Mega Man and Isabella and so forth. However, I've also never seen Mario, Luigi, Kirby, Meta Knight, Batman (Dawn), X, Mega Man NT Warrior, any of the Fire Emblem ones and so forth. There are WAY more exceptions than included ones.

Impossible to say if we will even get a US version. The best advice I can give is to get the DX now if you want it instead of fretting over a couple bucks. Especially since these things are prone to getting Chinese knockoffs and in some cases sell out/become problematic.

They charge you a couple weeks before it ships and it's at the current exchange rate. So if it's $60 today, it might be $70 at the time or purchase or $50. Obviously it will not be that extreme, but you get the point. They're also VERY firm about that no cancel policy.

- How can I cancel my order?
We apologize, but we do not accept cancellation requests.

They don't charge you until a few weeks before shipping

I chose PayPal as payment method on AmiAmi but they did not attempt to charge me. The status shows shipping and total charges TBD.

Is that normal? Won't I have to approve the charge with PayPal at some point?

You can get the Link w/ the horse for about $55 on AmiAmi & CDJapan shipped.

They will let you know the shipping total once they're ready to ship, then they ask you to confirm payment.

CDJapan charges the same for shipping as AmiAmi at least in my experience so the total should be the same on either one.

If you chose the same shipping method.

i usually order stuff from TOM (tokyo otaku mode). They used to be cheap, give bonus points, and had free shipping. Then u have to buy certain amount to get free shipping. They keep raising that. Now you have to spend $150 to get free shipping. I havent been ordering from them for quite a while. Used to be spend $100 to get free shipping. Before that I think it was like $80 or less. I still got some points I need to use before it expires. Spend $150 to get free shipping is way too much. I might just buy 1 item and pay shipping and get it over with. I used to love TOM.

If you don't care about shipping speed I'd recommend SAL registered, takes 2-5 weeks. If you really want it as soon as possible EMS is the best route, but that will probably be around double the price of SAL registered to ship.

Amiami is a great seller.  Every single order I've ever placed with them has arrived in perfect condition.  I usually go with the cheapest SAL option.  Stuff usually takes 2-3 weeks to get to me (in IL).

Just don't preorder an item with them and then try to get out of buying it.  They will ban your account.  Not that I've had this issue, but it's a pretty common thing to see online.

It's for EMS shipping, which isn't a bad deal. EMS takes less than a week in most cases, which is pretty freakin' amazing. If you decide to get it elsewhere you can get registered SAL for about $16ish but it takes 2 to five weeks.
For a single Nendoroid, register SAL is going to be closer to $10.

Amiami is usually fastest and cheapest for small items and SAL.

Larger items benefit more from flat rate shipping.

Most JP figure companies don't let you cancel pre-orders.

TOM charges upfront, most others at release.

We'll likely get these in the US, but it's usually months behind. And it's not guaranteed we'll get both the regular and deluxe.

True, but it's surprising how many US retailers are selling figmas and nendoroids now. Even amazon is taking pre-orders for the twilight princes figmas, and they have both versions of the figma link between worlds Link. The Japanese figure market seems to be slowly growing in the US.

Holy shit at the eBay prices for the Master edition. Is it just me or do them seem unusually high for a rare/collectable Zelda game?

I might end up seeing if someone locally wants to trade their Switch console for my Master Edition lol

I dont think theres ever been a zelda ce this limited that wasn't a Nintendo store exclusive. Its also a main title with a lot of hype. The prices haven't even peeked yet.

I love love love the Zelda franchise but these numbers are insane.

I have one pre ordered at best buy and I think I'm just gonna sell it. It will pay for everything I got for the switch lmao

Like I mentioned days ago, it's best to just be indifferent at this point. If you get it, cool. But if you don't, that's fine too. I've done too much to try to get an SE. This isn't worth sleepless nights. Nintendo dropped the ball hard.

What did you guys think of the Super Bowl commercial? Pretty irrelevant right? Nintendo doesn't even have a handegg game for the switch.

Prices will drop pretty hard at launch. Everyone will continually undercut each other in that first week.
Not going to happen with these editions. Both will hold or rise. Demand far out weighs the supply of them.

I thought thr superbowl commercial was perfect. It showed exactly what they wanted. You can play whenever and however you want. Im actually hyped for this now. Wasn't at first.

I mean, that's kind of not the way to do it. No one is going to make that face to face trade with that much of a $$$ downgrade for a brand new system. Just quietly sell your master edition online for $400 or whatever and go to the store and buy a Switch.

No one is going to get gouged that hard in a meetup lol.

Yup, sell it now. It's simply not going to get more expensive. Not when people see the normal and special editions for $60-100 on release day. Things tend to cap out at 3x their MSRP. It's hot and peaking now. I'm not usually one to start flipping discussions on here. But this is a no-brainer. It'll pay for most of your Switch. Go to Ebay or Amazon and sell yours immediately imo.

It'll pay for this month's rent.

exactly like Nothing371 said... when release day comes, people are going to scramble to make a quick buck and undersell each other because majority of people are naturally impatient.

the people offering preorders are hoping to sell theirs before the release day tsunami comes in. less competition allow them to set their own price.

Amazon has listing disabled for it, otherwise I probably would have sold it on there already honestly.

Looks like the undercutting has begun as well, BIN listings in the $350 range are popping up. It's hard for me to see it going for less than that, though. This is a huge deal for Nintendo, and no Zelda collection is going to be complete without it. (And everyone has a Zelda collection.)

The Special Edition is averaging $190 and the Master Edition is averaging $400. So the secondary market is valuing that damn statue at over $200? Lol, I didn't even wanna pay the extra $30 for it, let alone $200

This brings up a fair point. Wonder how much just the statue would sell for? I mean, that's all anyone really seems to want, right?

that statue looks like something you can find for $20 at most in the kid section of target/walmart. it's the whole rarity of the package that's upping the price.

Today is actually one of the days with the most competition, since there's 30 days until release and pre-orders can be listed without breaking the rules.

It's not about what the statue would cost separately. You can't look at a Collector's Edition and come up with a value of what's inside based on what it would cost on eBay for a Chinese knockoff. The value comes from the whole package of it being an official release, and in this case being the best version of the game available. Collector's and Zelda fans want to have the best version.

Demand is and will remain insanely high because it's Zelda and this is America, where the series is biggest. We all saw what happened with the Fire Emblem Fates Special Edition, and that is a much smaller series and a SE that probably had more copies available than the Master Edition. That was available at a bunch of different stores, unlike the ME.

The master edition is also the only ce to come with every item. All the other ce's, international included, are a mix of the items. The master edition will be in demand from international buyers as well.

People thinking the master edition will drop are crazy. That thing will only jump in price. It might drop a bit on launch with all of them in the wild but after the first run they will disappear.

The price will get up there if people have the patience to wait it out...

That's a good idea. I may just trade it for a switch rather than resell on eBay at 87% value.

Oh yeah? Show me a list of games in the last 20 years that currently go for over $400.

Ni no Kuni Wizard's edition is still going for $250-330 dollars new, much less than it was during release week. The Fire Emblem Fates SE was going for $290 on release week and it's cheaper now.

Nintendo could make a bunch more Master's Editions any time they please.

Those games are not a Zelda game....

Nintendo might re release it but something will be different. I do hope your right as I plan on selling mine asap. However I really feel like this will have lasting appeal.

Of course Zelda ME will have lasting appeal.  That doesn't mean it's going to achieve the TLOU: Pandemic Edition status that .01% of video games ever get.  Again, 90%+ of these super special high demand collectors releases peak in price right on, or before, release week.  The majority of people will buy standard edition copies of the game and get it out of their system.   Also, if Zelda reviews to anything less than 9s and 10s across the board, the hype for mega-expensive luxury editions will be over instantaneously;  half of people won't even buy their Switches.
