If you still have those iPods, you could always put in new HDDs as well. Just a thought.

My aluminum Zune case came today. Adds a good bit more girth to it, but now I can not hesitate to throw it in a bag or a large pocket.

Man. The Zune software eats up resources too? That's one of the things I hated most about having iTunes run with othe programs.

Also, if you sign up to Zune with the same e-mail as your XBL name, do you get to share points?

Yes, it even shows up on your XBL Account, your Marketplace Membership and your XBL Points

All the points you got collected on your XBL account can also be used to buy songs and Videos on the marketplace.

I always Ctrl-Alt-Del to shutdown the Zune software when im not using it, doesnt hurt anything and saves resources.

Right. But I like having music run as I use my computer.

Can you actually buy exact point amounts on the Zune marketplace?
 
i might spring for the 80g. its that or the 80g ipod, im replacing a 3 year old 20g ipod. which i need to pull my music collection off asap.

one question, which im sure has been answered somewhere in this thread -

will my 360 be able to play all my songs from the zune or only the first however many like ipods?

I Think each song is like 79 points each, Whole Albums vary in price range, Music Videos are beteen 100 - 150 Pts, There is also some Freebie downloads on Indie artsists and Artists that signed a Zune Exclusive contract. and other songs that are DRM free...Not a lot a variety on those.

Plays em all, Almost the Exact same interface as on the zune when you running it through the 360 Choose between, Genre, Album, Artist, Songs, or your own Playlists. Works fine while you play games as well.

What sucks is there is no feature so you can transfer selected songs or videos onto the 360 hard drive.

If you got some Videos on there, you can play em on the 360 as well.

Now if only the Zune allowed Xvid and Dvix like the 360 Id be one happy camper:applause:
 
Is it just me, or does none of the online FLV converters work?

I want some music videos off of YouTube, but can't get anything to work.

SUPER worked out great for me... and gave me flexibility in quality and videos looked much better than the other "quick" and free converters

My friend just told me about vixy.net a few days ago so i tried to use it this morning and it was a no go. I can't even find where to download that SUPER crap. Hopefully vixy will start working again.
 
i just picked up an 80gb. seems solid. when looking at the screen, if i run my fingers down the left side the seam between the front and back seems to stick out substantially more than the right side. is that normal?

Mine doesn't do that...it's perfectly flush.

I'm gonna say it's not normal. Bring it back!
 
Anyone have any issues with the v1 remote? When I push the center button, 99% of the time nothing happens. All the other buttons work fine.

May be a little sneaky and buy a remote from Wally World and return this one.

im actually expecting my dad to buy me an ipd for xmas, im interested int he zune and figured id grab one and check it out if i really like ill retrn the ipd. if not ill return it =)

the zune software is pissing me off though, i cant rename an artist, well i can in the "list" view, but when i revert to browse it goes back to unknown, aggrevating. also i cant figure out how to batch edit.

Yup, got mine today from Dell and its a White Zune substituted for the Brown one I ordered on Black Friday. This is too funny because when I called customer service when they bumped the estimated ship date out from early december to early February they pretty much laughed at me when I suggested to ship a Black or White zune instead of the Brown. They offered me $10 off if I agreed to cancel my order and order a White/Black one for 200. Now they just do what I suggested. Oh well, now I have 2 zunes for the price of (almost) one. :D
 
Yes I got a White one as well from Dell for no extra charge. Unfortunately this comes after buying a Brown one off a fellow CAG (this is a Christmas present for my Mom as I have a 30 GB IPod Video Classic.) Anyone want a Brown 30GB Zune for $100 shipped?

There might be a more efficient way around this, but this is how I did it. I went through all the "Unknown Artists" in the Zune software, and found their respective files. Then, I right clicked the song, went to properties, then to details. There, you can enter some info for the song. If you want the artist's name to show up correctly, fill out the ALBUM ARTIST part, you can ignore the part where it says artist, whatever you put in there is not where it will show up when you open the Zune software.

ah, thanks holmes. so far the zune itself is awesome, my only issues have been with the software, though like itunes itll probably get easier the more i use it.

Where can i find my WEP Password/key thingy?

I need it to enable the wireless sync, but i cant seem to find it...it shows up when my latop connects to the network but only as arteisks and nothing else, it wont let me copy it either.

I've also noticed that the animations when navigating through the menus on my Zune are much smoother since the update.
 
I know most ppl would rather buy the $99 brown one, but if anyone is interested, i'm selling a new black 30 gig w/ a used (but in great condition) Speck Toughskin case for $140 shipped. If theres anyone interested, just send me a PM.

It may also come with a 2 year warranty. The reason why i say 'may' is that i used the warranty once already and was told it'd be my only exchange, but online it still shows as active.

My 80gig is the same way. So im guessing its normal. Didnt even notice anything until i read your post about it.

Did anyone else have a problem with their Zune duplicating tracks every time it syncs?

Mine was doing it when I first bought it and I thought I had fixed it...but now it's doing it again.

Just wondering if anyone knew of a permanent solution.

OK, I updated some videos using dSHARPIE. Now, how to get the software/firmware to recognize the changes? Do I have to remove from the library and reload?
 
Excited about the new firmware, I hope it really helps the battery life.

Also, I just figured out that I can copy songs(none of my songs are bought from the marketplace) from my device to my collection on my work computer. While I still wish I could play directly from my zune, this at least makes it possible to listen to my stuff while at work.
 
Got my Zune 80 today, its all loaded up. Everything looks great, sound is something else though. I'm not a fan of earbuds that go directly into the canal. I preferred the headphones that came with the Zune 30 much more (if anyone know where i'd be able to buy a pair, please let me know).

Having no equalizers sucks, I always used the electronics setting on the 30 (made it sound a lot better). But other than that, I gotta say I am liking the 80. I put in an order for an Incipio Black Leather Flip Case. Hopefully i'll have that sometime before the new year. I know they say that the glass screen is a more scratchproof than the plastic, but i'll be damned if im gonna let this thing have a chance at getting scuffed at all.

Yep, I usually just update the info, take the video out of the folder, load up the Zune program, once the video is gone from the Zune program then I just drop it back into the folder.
 
I'm getting used to the premium headphones. Theyre sound isnt as clear as the ones that came with the Zune 30 were, but that could also have to do with the Electronics equalizer. Theres a lot of noise when you move around the cord as well. I think i'm going to hold onto them til I find a pair of headphones i really like.

Can't stand regular earbuds either. After using a set of Shure E2C's for 2 years that finally died, I'd be glad to lose the quality of sound and use the packed in canalphones. Buds are just so uncomfortable.
 
so my zune has just shut off on its own, right in the middle of a cagcast ywice.
it was on for 10 minutes or so. connected to speaker untouched and it just shuts off.
when i restart it and resume the podcast it resumes where i had started it before it shut off (10 minutes before it shut off)

i updated to 2.3 this morning. it shut off for the 2nd time this afternoon.

try wiping the zune, let it charge and update it... then copy the stuff back on...

I ashamed to admit mine does the same , way too often .

I never had trouble with my 20GB iPod .
