Test Drive a Chrome Notebook

I agree with the inefficiency of using nukes and the eventual machines to wipe out humanity. I didn't expect that, too old school for today's technology. With the implementation of the test self driving cars out on the streets however that is just the beginning of the Skynet-esque destruction of the human race.

Completely prepared to laugh when half of the test group for Google's new Chrome Notebook is CAG's.

Some sources say it's been pushed back to mid 2011.

And how great would it be to have all CAGs as the test group? Haha.

It would definitely be bad for Google, since it's not like anyone here is actually signing up for this with the intention to actually really test these things and submit feedback, which is the point of the whole thing.

It might actually serve them well, as a group CAG's tend to be more technologically inclined, spend good amounts of time on the internet (which is the main purpose of the notebook apparently) and most are willing to fill out surveys. As a test group, I'd say we're better than average actually.

Engadget posted it a few days ago so I'm sure they'll have plenty of people. They said the initial run was something like 60,000 netbooks

CAGs will fill out the survey they need to get the free thing, but that's it, for most of them. They won't keel doing them, without additional rewards.

What are the odds that choosing something other than "individual" will get you the best shot at the notebook? I feel like 99% of the people who apply will choose "individual" and I thought about using "business" so that I would be in a smaller pool of candidates. What does everyone else think?

Speak for yourself ;). Some of us enjoy testing!

I signed up when I found out about this (not through CAG) because I do think that my attention to detail and love for user experience would help me give Google some good feedback on the OS. As it is, I'm moving a bunch of my tasks and files to using cloud resources, so what the heck, why not?

I'm perfectly content with my vaio z though :applause:

ehhh I disagree on that one. As a marketing major I know just how important this can be to the process of making a solid product. If asked I will fill out a survey EVEN that dead space 2 one... For those of you who didnt see it, it was around 16 pages, asked for details on everything and anything, and had 1 - 10 for things as minor as attack speeds, to speeds, to add ons, to look @_@

As far as the cag community, a lot of people here are very vocal about shit that no one wants to hear.

"I cheated at the subway contest, won 5 games and 2 ps3's and got nothing wah wah wah"

I can easily see the same marketing segment from here doing the same thing...

"This OS is a piece of shit and laggy as hell wah wah wah"

I felt the survey was going really good until the "Hey, write a short story of why you would make a unique user of this laptop!" I was just like.....erm....I'll surf the internet and watch Netflix with it when I go to bed to replace my recently cancelled Cable TV. Something tells me there are much more interesting people that they want to have uses for :(

I'm appalled at all the people applying just to get something free and thinking of it as a contest. I hope that people who use it but don't help test and give feedback get told to send them back or be charged a fee.
