I know I don’t post much on the forums, but please hear me out. My wife was diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (also known as RSD) around a year and a half ago. It’s a terrible chronic pain condition in which your body is reacting as if you are being injured in some way. The pain receptors keep firing and the pain never stops. It can be located in a certain area of the body, or all over. My wife has it all over, from the top of her head to the bottom of her feet.

There is no definite cure for CRPS. There is one hopeful procedure though. Ketamine is a drug which has been used by several doctors to treat this condition. There’s multiple ways it can be administered, but for the most severe cases (like my wife’s), we have to travel out of the country to Mexico, where she is put into an induced coma for 5 days, while ketamine is pumped throughout her body. This procedure is illegal in the USA (I believe because the max amount of days for an induced coma here is 2 days). It’s supposed to kind of “restart” your body to the way it was before the condition. They’ve had great success. Dr. Schwartzmann in Philadelphia, PA informed us today that about 1 out of 2 patients have had complete pain relief and the pain has not come back. The other patients have had complete pain relief but only for a certain amount of time (1 year, 2 years, etc.). These patients come back periodically for booster shots, and this helps them get near levels of painlessness. So it’s pretty much a win-win situation, although obviously we would shoot for the no booster shots method. :)

If any CAGers would care to donate, we would greatly appreciate it. I’m trying to let as many people know as possible, because… well I forgot to mention, but the cost of the induced coma is $50,000. Yeah… $50,000. We have nowhere near that kind of money. But as of right now, she doesn’t have anything even closely resembling a “life”. The couch is her life right now. Burning pains, stabbing pains, an ungodly amount of pain (the kind where you puke or even faint when you do a little too much activity.. let’s say like half an hour some days, maybe walking around).
If you have any questions about her condition, please feel free to ask.

I figure most CAGers won’t want to just straight out donate though, so I figure I should post some games up for sale. All proceeds will go towards the donation fund. I know compared to a usual buy/sell list the prices may seem high, but remember, this is all going towards the $50,000 we need to raise in the next half year to nine months. You are welcome to just donate as well if you don’t want any of the games, that would be very kind of you. :)

I cannot guarantee that the used games will work. Most definitely will, but I haven’t played them all. If you have a concern about a game you wish to order, message me and I’ll double check the condition of it and let you know. Cart games are my main issue. I don't have the appropriate hardware anymore for most of them (genesis, nes, etc.). Don't worry though. If there is a problem where the game doesn't work, I'll refund you minus my shipping cost for it (which should only be like $2 - $3), plus you get to just keep the game. I don't really want to lose money towards the fund, so I figured I should at least break even, eh?

Just a little advice though, you might want to run the donation part through CheapyD or one of the other mods, I really don't know if they will allow that here. If you already have then ignore that part.
 
I feel for ya.

I've had 5 surgeries in the past 3 years on my knee, and if I didn't have such good insurance, I would be sunk.

Hey I am not trying to be a smart ass, but if I was you I would move to a state where marijuana is legal for medicinal purposes and get a license to buy/grow it . This would ease the pain TREMENDOUSLY !!

P.S. Denver Colorado is a GREAT place for medicinal marijuana (They have soooo many places to purchase the product legally)
 
Thanks for the free bump. I would certainly like people to donate a few bucks and then get a game or two out of it. :)

And yeah, we've had several people tell us about marijuana and moving to another state that has it legally. Neither of us have ever tried it, and we live in a state (PA) where the laws are pretty harsh on it. :( Just bought a house here several months ago as well..

Medicinal Marijuana is a blessing from no one other than God. Seriously without it I probably couldnt stand living haha. I understand that it might be scary for someone who has never used it before to want to try it but it is totally worth it.

I was sorry to read about the situation your wife has been going through.

Things never seem to be that great for us either, but our money troubles are nothing much at all compared to the health of a loved one, so I really feel for you.

It's probably not going to be much, but I am currently holding a lowball here. It ends in just a few days, and I will donate the proceeds of the single highest selling item to you afterward. Right now, it's only $20, but there is still time for things to go up! I wish you luck!!!
 
Sorry to hear about the situation; looks like I'll be taking a look to see what we can do to help.

Out of curiosity, have you already tried some of the less risky medical procedures? In the case of Ketamine, it appears that there is a series of low-dose out-patient infusions that is viable and legal within the US. I've got to think that you're not jumping to this level of treatment and this expense without looking and possibly trying other options, but was curious if your wife has seen any results from prior treatments.

Thanks for the interest. :) Yeah, the low dose out patient method was ruled out by Dr. Schwartzmann at Drexel University. He said if her pain was in one limb, or a small portion of the body, that method is the one to go with. However, being a case of severe, full body CRPS, he recommends going straight for the ketamine coma. They will be doing a 10 day, 5 hours a day, low dose ketamine infusion though in the next few months at Drexel. It's not meant for a ton of pain relief, it's pretty much to see whether or not her body has any bad reactions to the ketamine. Ugh... there's another $2,000-$3,000.. :p

I'll do what I can to help as soon as I can get to my laptop. My wife and daughter are the most important things in the world to me and it would kill me just to even know that mine was in pain like that. I tip my hat to you for doing this and god bless all you CAGs that donated for helping this guy!

Hmm... I'm not at home right now, but I'm pretty sure the only two PS3 games I was willing to part with were Unreal Tournament 3 and Lair. Both definitely have their original case as well, although I can't remember if the manuals are there or not (I will check). I guess $10 shipped for either one, or more if you are feeling generous :)

I'm sorry, but if this story is really true I would be prying the boards off my floor, gathering all the jewelry/watches, dvds,speakers, ANYTHING I could sell and using it towards this surgery. Hell, I might just consider stealing if I thought I could get away with it.

You're saying that CAG is your only hope? Do everything in your own power to help yourself, sell all of your games,systems, and luxury items before asking others to chip in.

Hahah, yeah the "CAG is my only hope" is just a reference to Star Wars, that's all. Believe me, we've gotten rid of a ton of shit already, and still are getting rid of more. ;)

And the "willing to part with", well I only have two other games which are Little Big Planet and Metal Gear Solid 4. I like both of them quite a bit (wife loves Little Big Planet), and they aren't huge money makers so I'm not parting with them quite yet. I don't feel I have to sell absolutely everything I own... YET. Trying to get donations, setup fundraisers, etc. etc. before I quite get to the "alright we aren't keeping anything anymore" phase. Right now it's "OK, time to go through games and movies I've never played, never will play, don't like, willing to part with for a good price, etc." phase.

That would be the Dreamcast version. It really is in fantastic condition, with the exception of the outer slipcover. That has some shelf wear and such, but still looks pretty decent.
