[quote name='SlammedNiss']On may 28, 2009, while returning from a x-country motorcycle trip with some friends, I went down about 1 hr NW of Phoenix. I was life watched into Phoenix where I was diagnosed with a complete sever of my L1 vertebrae. From that day on, I was, and always will be a paraplegic.
What does this story have to do with yours? Well, ever since the accident, I now get what is commonly referred to as "phantom limb pain". I get the exact pain you describe in the OP. Sometimes it's in my feet, sometimes my knee, sometimes my calf, etc. The pain is often so intense it brings tears to my eyes, and I'm a 36 y/o guy. People just don't understand how painful it can be, especially considering I'm paralyzed and don't feel physical pain in either of my legs. Luckily, it doesn't happen but every once in a while. However, when it does happen, I usually don't get much rest.
Is she on any medication? I'm currently on 1800 mg of gabapentin daily, which is supposed to help in battling nerve pain. Common pain meds like Tylenol or Ibuprofun don't work, because it isn't a physical pain. Also, to those suggesting marijuana use, don't bother. I'm on a
SCI (spinal cord injury) forum in which others with the same issue as myself have tried marijuana and they say it doesn't do much good. They said the pain is still there, and just as intense.
So, with all that said, I will be sending $20 paypal because I know first hand what she is going through. With that $20, I would like to purchase the following.
Grand Theft Auto 3 (PS2) - Complete
GTA San Andreas (PS2) Bradygames (this sucker is big!)
Meet the Robinsons (360) - Complete
Good luck with everything and I pray to God, for your sake and hers, that this procedure will be your answer.

Thank you for your kind words. Yeah, she was on gabapentin some time ago, but is on Lyrica now for the nerve pain. It has helped somewhat, I guess.. it's helped most with the skin sensitivity issue. I can actually touch her now without her yelling/eyes watering
