Dont know if you've actually played it, but if not, you're more right than you think.

Was hoping for a choose-your-own-adventure.

So, watched the first two episodes of Cobra Kai. It's better than I thought, but there's no way in hell I'm paying $10 a month for YouTube Red for it.

Cobra Kai is on youtube.   Go Johnny!

TIL that:

YouTube Red is a paid streaming subscription service exclusively for YouTube in the United States, Australia, Mexico, New Zealand, and South Korea. It provides advertising-free streaming of all videos hosted by YouTube, offline play and background playback of videos on mobile devices, access to advertising-free music streaming through Google Play Music, and access to "YouTube Red Original" series and films.

More paid digital subscriptions pls !!!  Great job, Youtube. Do people seriously pay for this kind of stuff? Who are these reported 17million American Hulu subscribers? What am I not understanding?  These people must subscribe to just about anything and everything.  So you cut your cable bill and pay for 3-4 digital services plus internet service instead lol. AKA: a cable bill.  Apparently I'm the weird one for going and buying the Handmaid's Tale on blu ray for 18 bucks.

I guess it's for the "clean living" millennial types that hate cords and disc cases sitting around the house.  I didn't know that people paid monthly fees to rent South Park, Seinfeld, and what was on CBS and NBC yesterday. Netflix, CBS All Access, Crunchyroll, Hi-Dive, HBO Now, Amazon Prime, etc and now Youtube Red like holy shit. Yeah Youtube is really gonna rake in those subs with Cobra Fuck ing Kai.

Regarding Cobra Kai, yes, I just watched the first 2 episodes.  You can try you tube red for free trial if you want.  I actually liked the set up as I was a teen when the movie with the 2 actors came out and now 34 years later, there is another story.

Regarding digital subscriptions, Nothing371 is correct that the subscriptions are the new cable bundles.  I have amazon prime and Netflix.  If you noticed recently the mobile companies ie AT&T are bundling their mobile service with a subscription service.  Digital media has taken over whether it be video games, movies, TV.

By the way, Hulu (owned in part by Disney) announced that they will soon have the ability to download content and watch offline like amazon and Netflix.  Also, Hulu announced a deal with Dreamworks animation, which again makes sense as Disney owns a major share in Hulu.  It was already announced that Disney was taking their content off of Netflix and was going to have a "Disney-flix" type of service.  I think it would be silly to have 2 different services ie Hulu for the "adult" content and a Disney-flix for the children content, just park it on Hulu to grow the subscriber base.  Hulu is having to play catch up with Amazon and Netflix.  It will become a competition of content and distribution.

Sorry to ramble.  No gaming sale news for now.  At least we have the last reveals for the May Humble Bundle coming out tomorrow along with the reveal of the headliners of the June bundle.

I just got done watching the first two episodes.  Youtube streaming over wi-fi sucks.  Default video was 1440p, constant buffering, changed the resolution to 4K, more buffering. When it switched over to next episode the resolution defaulted back to 1080p again, more buffering, after switching it to 4K again the screen drops out and the video crashes so I had to restart it. More buffering, more buffering.

I can't believe they think they're going to charge people $9.99 a month.  The show actually wasn't bad, it was pretty good.  But more crappy paid digital subscription services really leaves a bad taste in your mouth.  Only ep.1-2 are free btw, if it wasn't mentioned already.

*snip*

yeah that's cool.  I just have Prime and also use a friend's Netflix account.  Netflix is soooo much better then Youtube.  Especially now with Dolby Vision in 4K everything looks great.   Prime and Netflix have excellent streams by comparison.

I actually use Hulu far more than Netflix. I like the fact it will run for like 6 hours before stopping...
Seems like Netflix will run for 3 episodes. Amazon I use more for things other than streaming but it sees some use.

The other thing about Hulu is I can watch Fox, NBC, and ABC programing the day after with no issues... CBS if they're weather issues than I'm left looking for another way to watch. Usually CBS website which sucks something awful.

YouTube? Fuck that shit.

The only thing that has been on my radar for Hulu is the Handmaid's Tale.  Since you're paying to have all the basic network shows on-demand I guess that Hulu is mostly a service for cable cutters with no DVR huh?

Razer Game store flips over tomorrow, too.  While not super amazing, there's been pretty decent deals (generally better than best ever price on isthereanydeal) to be had if you actually want any of the games that come with the $15 voucher.
Everything else has gotten really weak, though.

I've a feeling that more likely than not I'll just end up floating the $15 voucher week to week to use on the next's week's game with $15 voucher.

If only the stupid $10 vouchers for their other stuff (mice, etc) stacked. I'm never going to pay what they're asking for those products, but if I could stack 4 vouchers and get one for like $10+shipping? Then maybe.

Regarding streaming services, I think some argument can be made for shared accounts- while I have Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime and have to pay for them, my parents and brothers and sisters don't. Sure, it doesn't help me, but each of them saves $20+ a month thanks to me having the account. Can't really do that with cable, especially when people live in different cities and states.

For razer hardware the only time it's worth buying is during their annual 50% off sale, I think it's usually early-mid january because of some convention.  That's the only time you can pay what the prices should be for the kb/m/accessories

That's a great way to look at it. It also has next day access to WWE programing so it's good for that. Their own Network often has delays on when they can upload their show so it's sways weeks/months out of date. (Outside of NXT)

Yeah, I would have jumped on it for $10 but having to scratch around for another five or six bucks worth of stuff I don't actually want makes me think that I'll just hold.  Half hoping one of these weeks has Kingdom Come as a featured deal, even if the discount itself is average, to stack the voucher with.

As Sasquatch said, the only time Razer stuff might be worth buying is during the annual 50% off sale and, this last year, they disabled the ability to use zSilver during the sale "for maintenance".  Frankly, the one time I bought a mouse from them (some Death Adder series) it was kind of garbage and broke within a year.  Needless to say, I'm in no hurry to buy their other products and I'll just stick with Logitech.

Streaming issues over WiFi is a "your" problem not a "their" problem.  Go plug your stuff in directly if you want uninterrupted streaming.  If it works when physically connected and not over wireless then it's on your end.  My wife talks about canceling the cable but it's largely an empty threat and the difference between just (fast) internet and internet/cable/phone is pretty nominal for us.  We also have Netflix, because everyone does, and Prime which is mainly for the shipping although I enjoyed The Tick and The Amazing Miss Maisel and sometimes there's actually a movie I want to see on there.  We also have the streaming Starz app because she was writing recaps for a publication about one of their shows.  Which reminds me that I never watched the final season of Black Sails.  As JSweeny pointed out, we have both of our mothers mooching off our various streaming accounts from their homes.

Agreed that Hulu really feels like a service for cord cutters despite their attempt to lure people in with Handmaid's Tale.  I might find it interesting but not interesting enough to justify another subscription.

But, if you buy Elex you'll get another 15$ voucher to wait for kingdom come. Not saying Elex is a good game or something like that, I'm already full of games on that style in my backlog (currently playing Witcher 3). I may grab battletech, love turn based tactical games and mechas.

I mainly pay for streaming Crunchyroll and HiDive since I like anime. I also have Amazon, mainly for the prime shipping for now, but have watched a few original things. I have been thinking of Netflix, but there isn't anything I really, really want to see on there, so I usually just forget about it. I had the WWE Network once as well, but yeah too many services for sure. Also we have a limited time for entertainment, so I will pick and choose from certain things.

If not for the $30 minimum requirement, I'd go for it.  Having to stuff the cart just to use the voucher makes it less of a deal and since I'm not dying for a chance to play it, I can wait for it to be in a Humble or something.  It's a Focus game.

Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage are good. Iron Fist was so bad it almost made The Defenders not worth watching, and after seeing his story arc in season 2 of Daredevil, watching a show whose "hero" is The Punisher held little appeal for me.

Lost in Space is . . . interesting so far. I've only seen the first one.

Stranger Things is pretty great, especially if you're old enough to remember the '80s. However, I found myself a tad disappointed (albeit unsurprised) that they are making a third series. I thought the show could have ended perfectly with the close of the second series.

I have not tried to get into Black Mirror or Travelers or Altered Carbon but they all look like things I'd like.

I'm enjoying The New Soup, er, Joel McHale Show.

Netflix has a food show called Ugly Delicious.

The first episode's title: Pizza.

In the first episode of Netflix’s Ugly Delicious, chef/host David Chang and his pals visit restaurants all over the world with one goal in mind: to determine just how important “traditional” ingredients and cooking methods are to creating the dish we know as pizza.

...After serving up slices of raw fish, chef Ryu Yoshimura makes a tuna and mayonnaise pizza

Spoiler

After a commercial for a compilation of regional pizza styles, Dave, Mark, and Peter discuss the origins of pizza, and whether it’s an Italian or an Italian-American dish.
...Chang meets with Wolfgang Puck in the kitchen of his landmark restaurant Spago, where they make a smoked salmon pizza

It might be time to quit the Humble Monthly subscription.  Like the regular humble bundles, things have gone downhill.   The "headliners" are simply obvious bundle candidates.  It has been a few months since I have received a game that I actually wanted.  They seldom include the good indie games on your radar.  It's 2days-old bakery bread at this point; mostly stuff everyone either already bought or that they were never going to pay money for.

To their credit, you're paying 2days-old bakery bread prices.  Some people recently were happy at buying Destiny 2 for $10ish.  So $12 for it and other games is a good deal.

That doesn't make sense.  If people already bought Destiny then they aren't excited about it being bundled now.  They're buying day-old bread that they already ate

The only people that are excited are you guys that never bought it at either $10 or $20 or more.
