Best Buy DotD The Witcher III: Wild Hunt - XBox One $20/$16

I just got to sample the game through GameFly and decided to buy it when the price drops. Unfortunately, I played it on the PS4, so this is a bit disheartening. :(

I was going to wait till I visited home and borrow my Dad's PS4 version but since I game more on the X1 I think I will just pick this up and then I won't feel like I need to rush through it.

Is this because xbox one is less popular than ps4 and they have excess stock? weird that sometimes the great deals are only for xbox one (like Fry's Dark Souls II SoTFS for $10 but only for XBOX One...)

We have to assume so. Funny as MS did a marketing deal with WB on this and had 2 Gwent decks be exclusive to the XB1 CE until the upcoming GS Gwent set release with the new expansion.

Not necessarily. Last gen Xbox was more popular and typically we saw much better 360 deals than PS3 deals. Sometimes too the ps4 version will be on a sale and not xb1. Despite what the Internet will lead you to believe, the x1 is doing very well, even better than the 360 at this point in its life, but the ps4 is just doing incredibly good. Mostly due to the initial blunder of the e3 reveal pissing off a lot of fans, it being inferior in hardware, and higher priced. Tbh I feel both have been underwhelming compared to the PS3/360 but I digress.

Maybe Amazon will step up tomorrow and match it & put it on the PS4, I'd buy it again since I wanna try out the DLC.

Would anyone recommend this over the pc version? Like is 60fps the only advantage it has technically or is the ultra graphics setting not as "pretty" as it should be. Why or why not. Thanks

I believe X1 tanked because of lack of special software. Pretty much everything on the X1 is on the competing platform and/or PC but it cannot be said the other way around. That plus the lost of Japanese support really hurts it. PS4 has far more exclusives, expecially games from Japan, thus its a better system overall worldwide for people to enjoy a much greater variety of the games. Last gen, the 360 was like the PS4 now in terms of software so it was a great success worldwide except for Japan. Even though Japan didn't care for the 360, Microsoft's heavy marketing there helped established great Japanese software support which helped the 360 succeed internationally. X1 is fairly successful in the west but failed to capture the eastern audience which they were able to capture with the 360.

Amazing game, definitely worth a buy. Going through it again to get the platinum. If you do ever want to go for plat make sure to start on the hardest difficulty.

The XB1 version looks pretty good but the PC version is significantly better. It's a PC port anyways.

XB1 version is at 900p resolution, 30fps, probably equivalent to medium settings on PC

If your PC can handle it well, that is absolutely the version to get.

Hmm... I haven't opened my PS4 copy from the 5/7 sale.  $7 savings to swap versions.... Guess I'll be stopping by BestBuy after work.

God I'm cheap.

Actually if you have been following NPD's and global sales and not buying Microsoft's deceptive PR, you would be aware that it actually isn't doing that well and certainly not better than the 360. Sure it is ahead in overall sales than the 360 launch aligned, however the Xbox One had a very bloated launch of around 4 mil while the 360 barely reached 1 mil in its first year. Basically if you take away that initial 4 million and look at sales on a month over month and year over year basis the Xbox One is doing considerably worse than the 360 especially outside of its home territory.

The Xbox One coming off of Microsoft's most successful system in the 360 should not be matching its numbers anyway, the 360, a console that came after a technically failed console in the OG Xbox. By years end the 360 will actually surpass the total Xbox One numbers if sales remain at the pace they are at and it has been recently projected that the Xbox One will barely be able to reach 40 mil lifetime, less than half the 360s total installed base.

Slept on it and decided to pull the trigger this morning. Now time to march into work and quit so I have time to play it.

Well if your PC can handle it, it's the superior version by far. Runs incredibly well and maxed out ultra graphics at 60fps is a night and day difference. Did you ever play battlefield 4 on PS3/360 then play the ps4/X1 version? It's that big of a difference.

That said, if you've only got a console, it's still 100% worth it

Well I have already beat it but for that price.... I wanted to play through again with the dlc anyways!!!  :D/

I guess today is the 1 year anniversary for the release of The Witcher 3.  Still does not explain the lack of PS4 sales.  This was Tweeted by The Witcher twitter account.

Went ahead and picked this up again. I'll get to it eventually... Yeah, right...

I don't feel bad holding $10-15 games physically in my collection until they get played, though.

Yeah between this game and my copy of Fallout 4 (with Season Pass) I really could not play anything else for the next 3 months.

You guys didn't get this during Black Friday? It was the same price then, AND you got a free Steelbook along with the normal case.

Unless.....unless that was just for the PS4 version....

Hmm.

Good deal if you have never played it, I think I'll wait a year and get it on PS4 with all the DLC included since I already played through the game at launch. Would still be tempted if it was for Ps4 or if I had a Xbone.

Until Dawn, Street FIghter V (price error), and Dragon Age Inquisition were all <$15 and they are still in plastic. One day...

Where was it $15.99? The BF price at BBY was $24.99 ($19.99 with GCU).
