So I got an early access code for Chorus, which I’ve been dying to play as a huge fan of space shooters. Not sold on the story yet (not mention the hushed inner voice of the main character that annoyingly sounds all too much like Hellblade’s voices). But the gameplay and visuals are phenomenal.
Probably the best space combat I’ve ever played with some unique features like a Dishonored blink-style action and a drift mechanic that adds a lot of cool ways to move around enemies. And there’s a lot of other moves (“rites”) to be unlocked.
Aside from the brilliant and challenging combat, a code feature of the game is exploring Zelda-like dungeons with puzzles that you need to pull off fast maneuvers to get through.
I’m still very early in the game but, outside of the story that I’ll have to see how it progresses, it’s seriously impressive and the kind of space game I’ve been waiting for. Heck, it’s got some really nice new ideas for the genre.
Anyway, with Forza, Halo, GOTG and a million other things to play, might seem crazy that I decided to dig into something else. But I really hope this game doesn’t get lost in the shuffle. The devs probably should have waited to release it later.
Oh, it’s also gorgeous to look at even in performance mode.
