Guess I'm not playing any Bethesda games. I put it that way this time because they probably get paid if I'm playing it "free" through GamePass, right? Sucks.

It's unclear how GamePass works for MS owned studios. As far as I know, Stadia was the only service that specifically paid for the time people played a game. I don't think Bethesda would get money for GP plays, at best the largely worthless "engagement" stat goes up.

Been a whole lot of meh so far with Black Friday deals compared to previous years. A few good ones here and there and guess we will see how next week goes.

The punchcards and daily point offering are really tanking. It used to be $10 per 1,000 points or spend $50 get 5000 points. Now only half that. This is going to encourage me to spend on other sites GLA Gameflip amazon etc rather than going through Microsoft. The punch cards were a great incentive.

I think it would be more like 4,000 points if you spend $40. This is a weak punchcard but I haven’t seen one worthwhile recently that’s required purchases.

It was already canceled, but the explanation is new. Makes sense, the sweet spot for streaming sticks has been $50 and under and with the advent of better and better smart TVs, have become increasingly unnecessary.

At this point, better for them to just take the Steam Link approach and make apps for TVs like they are with Samsung.

Just an FYI as Gameflip is dead for cheap Xbox games as MS turned off the gifting feature for Argentina and Turkey so none of the sellers on there can get codes anymore at the cheaper prices.

I checked with a few sellers who insist they can get Argentina codes again. Had seen a few newly posted listings for Goat Simulator 3. This is from this morning. So hopefully we’ll still be getting them. Fingers crossed!

I've seen very little concrete info on GamePass. The contract seems to vary from game to game, aside from bigger deals like the Yakuza or Final Fantasy arrangements. I get the impression that it is mostly lump sums for whatever period of time.

Game Pass deals are done on a case-by-case basis, but as Phil Spencer said I imagine most want money upfront.

Our deals are, I’ll say, all over the place. That sounds unmanaged, but it’s really based on the developer’s need. One of the things that’s been cool to see is a developer, usually a smaller to mid-sized developer, might be starting a game and say, “hey, we’re willing to put this in Game Pass on our launch day if you guys will give us X dollars now.” What we can go do is, we’ll create a floor for them in terms of the success of their game. They know they’re going to get this return.

 

[In] certain cases, we’ll pay for the full production cost of the game. Then they get all the retail opportunity on top of Game Pass. They can go sell it on PlayStation, on Steam, and on Xbox, and on Switch. For them, they’ve protected themselves from any downside risk. The game is going to get made. Then they have all the retail upside, we have the opportunity for day and date. That would be a flat fee payment to a developer. Sometimes the developer’s more done with the game and it’s more just a transaction of, “Hey, we’ll put it in Game Pass if you’ll pay us this amount of money.”

 

Others want [agreements] more based on usage and monetization in whether it’s a store monetization that gets created through transactions, or usage. We’re open [to] experimenting with many different partners, because we don’t think we have it figured out. When we started, we had a model that was all based on usage. Most of the partners said, “Yeah, yeah, we understand that, but we don’t believe it, so just give us the money upfront.”

That's just 72 of the XBox ACA Neo Geo Collection games on XBox. I'm sure I have a bunch of them already from Twitch Rewards though as well, but regardless more! I Still need to buy that stupid horse racing game that I'm not even sure if it's a betting simulator or an actual horse racing game, but I'm terrible with money and I need it for cheap!

That said, anyone else play Weird West? I'm really enjoying it. Feels a lot like an updated Fallout 2.

 

It has it's share of flaws, such as dodgy AI and a sameness to location designs. 

 

However the story is good, the artwork is great, and the gameplay is very addictive. 

 

I kinda want to play Gotham Nights but the reviews are so awful... I feel like it'll be on GamePass within 6 months.

I really liked what I played of weird west I need to go back to that. Honestly I played a few hours of Gotham and didn't think it was as bad as the reviews, still not an amazing game by any means but I liked what I played, I think one of the big things is not going in expecting the combat to be like the arkham games. 

 

edit: I tried requesting a refund so I could rebuy it at the sale price but they didn't give it to me, I feel like 40 is a much better place for it then the 70 launch price
