In HS I gamed more on a my Atari computers. Kid I went to school with had a couple hundred games he pirated.
I think I will check out the Atari 50 game collection. The documentary part of it will likely keep me more interested in it then just a collection of 50 year old games. We have one of the retro consoles and I think used it less then 2 hours. But the history part playing through it as it evolved sounds cool. And I missed years of Atari games.
Nice post man I always dreamed of owning an Atari computer back in the day. I ended up getting a Commodore 128 I pirated many C64 games. Those were the days. Go to a friends house and copy games to floppy disks
I spent a good hour playing games and checking out the extra content in the Atari 50th Anniversary collection just now. In my opinion this collection is well worth the $40.
First console also was a Colecovision and I loved the shit out of that thing. Had all the stupid controller add ons for baseball and racing. Those were the days when something like Donkey Kong Jr. was able to be on every console out there.
The Colecovision was another console I desired back in the day and never got to play on.
Since my birthday is in January, starting in my preteen years, if I held onto my Christmas money, I'd usually have a good amount by late January when the birthday cards came in. I think it was 1988 when I used the double windfall to get a 7800. The first console I bought myself. Not sure where I have it. I think it was included in a bundle of stuff I got from my parents a few years back when they wanted to clear stuff out of their house. My parents had bought a 2600 for the family, and my grandparents did as well for when we visited, which my parents got when my grandmother passed. I have at least one of the 2600s, maybe both.
Thanks for sharing that. That's cool how you worked out your Christmas/Birthday gifts. I was never that smart lol.
