Think I mentioned that I got Sonic Frontiers and really like it. Well, liked… Goddamn why did they make the first major boss in this so fucking hard! It’s Sonic not Dark Souls!!!

Apologies for breaking up the merger talk. I have some older HDTVs I’m looking to sell. They’re sitting around unused and I’m clearing things out. What are some options in order to get it done? It’s the first time I’m attempting to sell such items.

FB marketplace works, bought my PS5 through there. Mercari is another one I've used that I don't think I saw mentioned. Nextdoor as well depending on the area. I just went to the guy's house to buy the PS5, paid with cashapp as I wasn't going to carry cash to an unknown place. I've seen ads want cash and some want electronic payments, it's up to you in the end.

I know go to a police station is the classic advice bit that feels a bit outdated for a wide variety of reasons that I am going to leave at that. TVs are awkward, I wouldn't want to take them somewhere. Record the transaction/make it known you'll record as a deterrent to shenanigans?


Vampire Survivors got a lot better after reading a guide for a few minutes. I figured some things out, but it was much more rewarding after a nudge in the right direction. Garlic is awesome and can be very satisfying.

They can have CoD if that's all that's the big deal. Damn.

As far as the use of a police station, I understand where you’re coming from. Not too long ago a guy got beat up by another guy at a bus stop right outside of NM State Police headquarters. It was all caught on one of their cameras facing the street. They arrested the assailant a small distance from the scene of the crime shortly after. Guy that got jumped was waiting for the bus and minding his own business.

Late to the merger talk after spending last night at the Pacers game with the family.

I don’t think the FTC’s action had anything to do specifically with MS, ActiBlizz or the wider gaming market. I think the FTC has been seen as weak and ineffective for many years, allowing so many tech acquisitions that have killed many potential competitors to companies like Facebook and Google (to name a couple) in the cradle. For example, Google snapping up Waze to eliminate a competitor to Maps. The current administration has been keen to prevent such consolidation, and this merger has become the poster child for that.

I don’t believe Call of Duty is the market force that Sony would have people believe. Remember when Halo 2 and 3 were the shooters that everyone wanted to play? Tastes change, and PS player would likely just switch to something else.

I think the bigger driver in console choose these days is the storefront itself. I’ve got 15 years of purchases that only work on an Xbox 360 or X1, and I’m far less likely to switch to PS because of that.

And of course, the most amusing think about all this is Sony’s disingenuous complaints about games becoming Xbox exclusive while their biggest selling point is their exclusives. Sony was forced by one of their licensors, Major League Baseball, to release their game on other platforms or risk losing the license. THAT is bigger sign of abuse of market power than anything Call of Duty could pull off.

Personally I wish the merger wasn't happening because I don't really give a shit about any of the games. Never liked CoD, Blizzard has ruined themselves over the last 5-10 years, and anything else would be hypothetical. Old IP with no one to work on them. Old studios that got absorbed or turned into CoD sweatshops like High Moon or Vicarious Visions. Maybe Crash or THPS get a more permanent revival but that's all I see happening.

I get the impression MS gave up Eidos to Embrace due to this deal as well, which would have been a much better acquisition as far as functional studios and well rounded IPs, but it's hard to argue against CoD money.

But most of Sony's arguments as to why it should be stopped are bad, even self-inflicted. About FPS, let's ignore that they just bought the studio that built the FPS strength of Xbox, and remember that they tried for years to make worthwhile shooters and finally gave up at the start of last gen. Sony has clearly put all their eggs into third-person narrative action game basket over the last couple generations, and that was their own call.

I still have luck on CL (it's where I got my new office chair) but a lot of sketch on there. I avoid ads where people don't post much detail, and usually ghost anyone who is short and abrupt over email or text. I'm not meeting up with anyone who can't answer basic questions or meet at a public location.

Anything should work, so long as your buyer doesn't end up having to rent a U-Haul to get the 50" flat screen (but not flat-panel) from the site where it sat prior to its government auction and then not ultimately have the right space in a van to get it to college from home, forcing said buyer to dispose of it at the electronics recycling facility next to the local landfill.

 

Not that I'd know anything about that.
