Does anyone know why we cannot use gift card currency to purchase design lab controllers; is this a permanent thing now? I used my Microsoft currency just last year and purchased two custom Series controllers... It seems odd they would not allow gift cards to purchase them - how are you supposed gift someone the option to create their own?

 

Edit: Holy hell...this was actually on the design lab FAQ - who is running this operation?

 

"The best way to do this is to have the gift recipient design the controller, add to cart, and share a screenshot of the "Show Details" section found in your cart. Once they have done that, you can build the controller to their specifications and purchase it for them."

It's because they changed vendors/merchants or whatever to handle Design Lab instead of the Microsoft Store. That's why the store died at the end of last year and brought back with a different site. It sucks but it can always change in the future. I wouldn't be surprised if a Design Lab controller was added as a new redemption option for Microsoft Rewards in the future.

Interesting. The bonus points for "play a PC game" do not require the PC game to be launched from the Xbox PC app. Just that you be signed into windows with your Live/GPU email and play a game on that PC, from any launcher.

Can confirm. I get this by launching Solitaire or AoE2 from desktop shortcuts, not the Xbox app.

Indianapolis dweller here. Been dam cold here also. Was a dumbass and did not drip my faucets and now I have a frozen pipe somewhere in bathroom. No hot water from the tub or faucet and no water at all from the tub. Got some heaters going and the main water turned off, but I have no idea when this might thaw.

I can’t remember who brought up As Dusk Falls. It was interesting enough to finish but I don’t know what to point to but it fell flat. The QTE’s felt unnecessary and unless. It would have been better not to have them. I can see how they tried to replicate the Telltale games but they just didn’t measure up.

FLight Simulator and Immortality are the only exclusives i can even think of. I don't think they really start coming out until mid next year. That said.

 

Elden Ring, Hades and Midnight Suns were my most played and favorites of the year.

Sports/racing games are a great showcase for the load time improvements. Playing in seconds instead of minutes. Deathloop is the first next-gen only I can think of that's definitely worth a look.

Normally I would be excited about free Xbox money, but dealing with Dell is a nightmare. They seem to cancel orders for no reason. Then you have to deal with customer support to get your rewards credited back to your account. Nothing is ever explained as to why the order gets cancelled. They will just "look into it" and try to push it through many, many times.

I had some $20 credit from something a year back and used it for Xbox credit but the transaction would always hang in that the order would be placed, then they'd place a temp charge on my card and. . .it never resolved. So I ended up contacting CS, they canceled it and gave me the credit back. So knowing fully well that it was just going to happen again, I tried the same order to see if it would go through. Exact same thing happened, and I had the fun of seeing a recurring temp charge for TWO MONTHS while it tried to resolve. It finally stopped trying and the order was never fulfilled.

I'm glad this is getting exposure because Sony is just hanging themselves with all this dirt coming to light. I'm actually surprised that Starfield is going to be exclusive but this gives them the perfect excuse to come forward with that info now. Really explains why SE is scared now to put any title on Xbox regardless of whether they're getting paid; pathetic.

What I did the last time I bought a $50 Xbox gift card from Dell was to contact customer support and tell them I was going to make a purchase and to please not cancel any orders I'm about to make. After that, my order didn't get cancelled

I have the 25 in my Alienware but it won't transfer to the Dell account with same email. Problem with Google voice numbers is you have to have a real number to connect with to create one.

Just finished the 142 main achievements and tiny update for Vampire Survivors. Did it without using any codes also so feeling proud of that. I actually am feeling a little burned out now on the game so I will come back and play the DLC later. Still a bunch of fun.

I guess they are getting thousands of people joining to use the feature. Not sure if it is going to bounce back eventually but I like it.

I got Powerwash Simulator co-op working today. Always got a network connection error when my wife and I tried to join up together. Called MS support and they had me clear my Series X mac address, restarted the console and then the game - we loaded up together no problem.

Looks like they've added about 100k accounts since earlier this week.  They posted that there were 20k registrations on Tuesday after they posted about it and another 50k on Wednesday after people like Phil Spencer tweeted about it.  A post in their Discord from early Thursday morning shows they were at 972k then and they're at 997.5k now.

 

The numbers will probably continue climbing over the next week, maybe longer.  They said they have a hard limit on how many games they recalculate ratios for a day (was 1,400, bumped to 2k, with 8,622 tracked on the site) to ensure the process finishes in 24 hours before starting a new batch.  So the games processed after the first big group of registrations will probably cycle through again in a day or two.

 

I've picked up about 5k from the ratio inflation.
