I fired up Hollow Knight in an attempt to unlock an achievement for the 500 points, and I was brutally reminded at how frustrating that game is.  There is an ever so slight delay between button press and game reaction, but it caused so many needless deaths.  That game is all about close quarters combat in tight spaces and leaves little room for error.

For GPU codes that can only be used for new accounts, does anyone know if they can also apply to lapsed accounts?  Used one for a dummy account, when that expires in a month will I be able to use another one?  Haven't signed up the extra account for MS Rewards, but I could probably do that and earn enough points each month on it for the auto redeem GPU.  Need to read up on having multiple accounts in the same household.
 
Already have Blaster Master Zero 1 and 3, so I guess I'll pick up 2.
 
Thought the Steamworld Dig games were part of the countdown sale, but their discounts have ended, so I guess not.  Will take another spin through the countdown list before they end in the morning, but not sure if I'll get anything.  If the punch card had been 5k instead of 2,500, I might've pieced something together centered around the New Tales of the Borderlands.  Though New TotB vanilla was in the countdown sale for $23.99, with New TotB Deluxe (which includes the original game) is in the new sale for $24.99.  Similar to the Ace Combat 7 bundle awp mentioned.  Haven't gone through all the bundles in the new sale, but I wonder if there are other instances like that.

Microsoft nerfing the punchcards to 2,500 kept me from buying stuff that would just sit in my backlog forever. Not always but I was more likely and did spend over $50 in the past but now, they are saving me from spending money.

It was a tough start for me and it turned me off of it a time or two. I finally powered through and learned how to play it a bit better, then I was hooked to the end. There were some rage moments but very satisfying after successes. It's a fantastic game and handles easier after you beef up your play skills and your character a bit.

How Long to Beat has Diofield at 28 hours for Completionist, so not as bad as P5R or most of the other JRPGs lol

Diofield is mediocre unfortunately.  That game feels like it's unfinished on so many different levels especially with how you can use a single strategy for the entire game.

I had a week off of work and spent most of it trying to get through God of War on PC. The FOMO is real thinking about the state of exclusives on Xbox right now, that game really is incredible. It's also very long. I lost a lot of sleep to it and still didn't finish!

I also bit the bullet on a 4K computer monitor with HDR for PC gaming. The Series S also looks incredible on it, especially for 360 games that have upscaling and HDR added.

So Game Pass quests have been revamped again. No more singular game quests for Monthly Quests and Quest Completionist has been knocked down from 1k to 500 points earned. On the other hand, weekly quest now has one usual play specific game for 5 points and the other is basically a former monthly quest, but now worth 250 points and is a weekly (in this case, earn 20,000 Sellswords in Black Desert).

These subscription services are nice and all but I am way too slow getting through these games for it to make sense for me. I have a mountain in backlog games and retro games to get through as it is. Starting a game on Gamepass or PS+ extra service with a deadline to finish probably doesn't make sense for people like me since I can eventually just buy these games cheap and complete them at my own pace later. I am genuinely curious what percentage of gamers are like me. I feel like I would need to quit my job and disown my family to be able to keep up with some of you in playing/finishing these games as they come out new.

Trying to "defeat" your backlog is a losing battle. I've taken several weeks off from work and it barely made a dent in my backlog lol. Mathematically speaking, there simply aren't enough hours in a day to play every single game. That's why I always highly suggest to play whatever makes you happy and brings you the most joy at the moment. Why play a 6/10 game just because it's leaving game pass when you could be playing a 10/10 game from your backlog? I won't even start a game that's slated to leave game pass unless I know it's really short.

 

That being said, game pass has been a real blessing. I've discovered so many great games I wouldn't have otherwise. Even without a plethora of 1st party AAA games, a nice 8-10 hour AA or indie game is where it's at for me. A game like Hades, Death's Door, Tunic, A Plague Take, High on Life, etc...

I  only have Game Pass Ultimate because of the free upgrade from Gold when it first started. I keep extending it using rewards points. I rarely play games when they first release on Game Pass, but every once in a while I find a gem of a game I would not have considered were it not for a free try on Game Pass. 

 

I know some members here "complete" game pass games before they leave the service every month. I have not had that kind of free time in my life for a long time.  I have a full time job and lots of other responsibilities that makes playing all these Game Pass games impossible. Maybe when I retire I will have that kind of time to play games, I seriously doubt it though.  I will have other things I need to do as always. I enjoy playing video games, but it is a hobby for me and not a super important thing for me to stay current with. I feel like a lot of the modern games on game pass are not my kind of game for the most part. 

 

Just play what you enjoy is what I always have said. I will keep Game Pass to try some new games out now and then.  Game Pass is definitely geared towards people who want to play a lot of games all the time.
