PS+ Extra and Game Pass felt like the same services to me with the difference being the first party games. I think the reason Game Pass is more successful is because Microsoft markets it so aggressively while Sony just says PS+ Extra is an optional tier we have.

Apparently early access on Xbox Diablo only works for the primary account. My son tried to play and gets a license error. I looked it up online and it’s a known error and says couch coop is the only option until Tuesday.

I just noticed that Lost Judgment Ultimate Edition is $27 on PSN and it's the second time it has hit that price (first time being in April). It hasn't been that price on Xbox yet though I'm expecting it to show up next week (based on Bloomy's omniscience/precognition). I'm going to feel a little sad for buying it for effectively $32 last July and not even touching it (barely touched Judgment for that matter).

there is a minor workaround if you are around each other, its annoying but works

 

pair a controller on your sons xbox so it logs in as you

run d4 on your account with your controller, login and everything

start a coop session, have your son log in on his controller and join your coop session

quit out of the game with your account

 

he can run it now on his own session and level and stuff and even join you on your primary system whenever.  

 

Its a bit hacky but lot of people doing the extra few steps, after tuesday he should be able to just launch and play without needing you to start a game session.

The back compat team dropped the ball so hard here! Ryse Son of Rome, Sunset Overdrive and Crackdown 3 were literally some of Xbox One's high profile exclusives. There's no reason any of these games should not be running at 60 FPS! Going back to them recently was extremely painful

I'm not a graphics snob either but when you get used to playing games at 60 FPS, it's like going from watching a black and white TV to a color TV. It'd be hard to go back once you've experienced color. It's doable, just not as enjoyable.

We can't necessarily blame the BC team for a lack of FPS boost on those games. It depended on the engine supporting it and no bugs as a result of the boost.

Sunset Overdrive runs on a proprietary engine that has no other Xbox releases.

Ryse runs on CryEngine, of which I think Prey 2017 was the only boosted game.

Something I'm glad more developers are doing (I think) is being more forward thinking with dynamic resolution scaling and unlocking framerate. I'm waiting for the next Xbox to play Hogwarts Legacy

I have PlayStation Plus Premium and it’s better than I thought it ever would be but it still doesn’t work for me like GamePass does. 90% of what is added to PS+ Extra are older games that can be bought dirt cheap like Ubisoft games (or ironically Bethesda games recently).

Even if most of them are indie, probably 75% of what is added to GamePass is new so I don’t own them already. And it’s often stellar indie games like Cassette Beasts, Chained Echoes, Planet of Lana or Fuga 2 that I would have bought. Not to mention great AA/AAA games like Wo Long, MLB The Show or Monster Hunter Rise. To me AAA first party games aren’t the biggest draw.

Anyway, PS+ and GamePass are still completely different animals IMO. If you are new to gaming or either ecosystem then both complement each other quite well. I just personally find more of my needs are met with GP.

It has been dead for a while. I can’t remember what exactly happened since it’s been several months. From what I recall, the studio that was supposed to bring the restoration content got fired or were cut. That’s after not fixing the bugs. It sucks because now the only place to play Kotor 2 patched up is on PC.

What did Phil Spencer say in regards to FF 16? Last I read, he was quoted saying that he's trying to improve relations with Square Enix, whatever that means.

 

I mean they released Crisis Core on Xbox and at the end of the game it says, "continue the story in FF7." How are Xbox players suppposed to play FF7 if they won't release it on Xbox? Hello? McFly!?

 

Will be interesting to see if FF 16 will break records or if it will fail to meet "expectations."  when they clearly limit themselves to releasing to only to a small demographic while intentionally skipping other platforms.

 

Selling a game at $70, during a year with multiple generational titles while simultaneously making it exclusive to only PS5 and surprise Pikachu face when the game doesn't sell as well as FFXV. Square Enix is truly a meme at this point.  Let's hope they don't close down their dev team like they did with Flopspoken.

 

 

I wonder what this would mean for UK gamers. Would they just not have Activision Blizzard titles available on Game Pass, or not at all?

Quick update but business insiders are confirming that Microsoft is willing to completely pull Activision out of the UK in order to get the deal done. UK gamers will still be able to buy games via 3rd party resellers, just not through Activision directly. Changing the region on your Xbox might be an option as well. 

 

Activision and Microsoft have an agreement that Microsoft must pay Activision 3 BILLION dollars if the deal doesn't go through by July 18, so expect the deal to close before then. The CMA has the ability to agree to the deal any time it wants.

Square ENIX is one of the most baffling companies to ever exist. They completely ran Final Fantasy into the ground, mismanaged some of the best games in the past decade and sold the Ips, had the rights to make a game based on the highest grossest movie ever and just floundered it.


And they made a collection of some of the greatest games in history and just go out there way to make sure it’s not on all platforms and that physical editions are hard to obtain.

My longest streak is 159 days apparently. Who knew? Lol

 

Probably back when I was going for the 50 rewards points for scoring  an achievement a day. I don't mess with that anymore since they changed it to Gamepass games only and you need to use the mobile app or something.

1,128 days for 2,622 achievements and counting. I also started during COVID and the 50 bonus points was the motivation which got me my series x

I just want to play through the game and I could care less about multiplayer aspects. I paid for the ultimate edition. I should not have to wait to play a game that I paid for.  I hate games as a service so much. This lack of a game starting should be illegal. Get the network resources up and running correctly or don't require online connection to play.  Seriously thinking a refund is in order at this point.

 

Now I am just stuck at Game start pending after the 10 minute timer ended. The game is fun, when I can play it. Not a very good first impression for me at the moment.

I knew when I saw the message pop up in the game about login issues (which by the way I had no trouble logging in) there would be some kind of issue. My issue is the game won't launch even after the countdown timer ends.

I've been getting in no problem since yesterday even with couch co-op. Surprised to hear people are still getting stuck in long queues.

I was having no problem this morning. Played for a bit and was enjoying the game. Wanted to pick up where I left off and now I can't start the game. Not an ideal experience to be sure. It must be region based if you aren't having any issues.

 

I guess I should have known not to be an early adopter for this game. I usually don't jump in like this. You would think by now a company like Blizzard could work out network play after all these years.
